Think drafting this early is crazy? You’re probably right. Player values will change — often drastically — between now and September.

But your competitors are in the same boat, so there’s no disadvantage to you. In fact, I think folks who are acutely tuned into the NFL actually have an edge in these early drafts.

Knowledge of the incoming rookie class and an understanding of who might benefit or be hurt by free agency can lead to some big values. Last year, for example, Jordan Howard, Michael Thomas and Rishard Matthews were all super-late-round picks in February and March MFL10s.

Below are the rankings I’ll be using for MFL10 drafts. They’re certainly on the conservative side, but that’s by design. At this point of the offseason, you want to be rostering guys who are relatively secure in their roles. Remember that there are no in-season roster moves in these leagues. So when that hotshot sleeper RB that looks tempting now ends up riding the pine all year, you can’t replace him with a waiver-wire add.

You’ll also notice the overall rankings are top-heavy at RB. I remain a believer in landing as many stud, workhorse backs as possible in best-ball leagues like MFL10s. We’ve found that it’s difficult to find useful RBs in the later rounds of these drafts.

Alright — enough blabber. Let’s get to the rankings. And good luck in your MFL10s! (When you’re not drafting against me.)
