Looking Back at 2012's First-Round QBs

There's always been a sect among Fantasy Nation hell-bent on using a 1st- or 2nd-round pick on an elite QB. But the strategy became a full-on craze in 2012. Like Beatlemania or something.

According to MyFantasyLeague.com's final ADP data, 5 QBs were being selected among the first 12 picks in fantasy drafts last summer:

1. Arian Foster, RB, Texans
2. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers
3. Ray Rice, RB, Ravens
4. LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles
5. Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions
6. Tom Brady, QB, Patriots
7. Drew Brees, QB, Saints
8. Chris Johnson, RB, Titans
9. Darren McFadden, RB, Raiders
10. Matt Forte, RB, Bears
11. Matt Stafford, QB, Lions
12. Cam Newton, QB, Panthers

Of course, one of the pillars of the Draft Sharks strategy has always been waiting until the middle or late rounds to grab your QB. 2012 was no different. In fact, our First Round Bust call was to avoid all of these guys -- save Aaron Rodgers if you could get him at the end of the 1st.

So how did that call pan out? Was grabbing one of these top QBs in the 1st round a winning proposition? Let's take a look at some numbers.
