DraftKings scoring was down in Week 1. Sub-200-point rosters won tournaments. The cash line in 50/50s was somewhere around 120 or 125 points.
Week 2 will not be low scoring. Patriots-Saints will shootout. So will Packers-Falcons. The Steelers are at home, where they almost always score big. The Raiders get the Jets. The Seahawks get the 49ers.
Expect lots of points this weekend. It’ll take higher scores to cash. So we should be seeking upside in our lineups, even in cash games.
On to the Week 2 picks …
Play of the Week and Value Option: Philip Rivers, Chargers ($5,800)
I did a double take when I first saw this price. Rivers is sitting 15th among Sunday-slate QBs in salary. He’s 7th in our Week 2 Rankings.
Rivers just tallied 18.68 DraftKings points in his toughest matchup of the season in Denver. Now he returns home to face a burnable Dolphins secondary that allowed the 4th most fantasy points to QBs last year.
I wouldn’t recommend going cheaper than Rivers — at least in cash games. But if you’re so inclined, Joe Flacco ($5,200) is worth a look. Don’t expect big passing volume in a home game against the Browns, but he could toss 2 or 3 TDs. The Ravens have a solid 24-point implied total — tied for 13th highest on the week.
