The initial diagnosis on Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty’s injured knee is a torn ACL. He’ll undergo more tests later today, but it sounds like he’ll miss the entire 2010 season. It’s a tough blow as Cleveland was counting on this guy having a sizeable impact this year. RB Jerome Harrison is obviously the big winner here. He could be a 20-touch guy and is a legitimate RB2 in fantasy leagues. RBs Peyton Hillis and James Davis will also see increased roles, but neither is a fantasy option.

Browns RB Montario Hardesty left tonight's preseason game with a leg injury. The rookie was making his NFL debut after missing the first 3 preseason games with a knee injury. He looked impressive before leaving the game, picking up 25 yards and a score on 7 carries.
Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty has practiced in full the past two days and will play in the team's preseason finale. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer is on record that the Browns had Hardesty "penciled in as a feature back" before he suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago. That's still a role we expect him to take over by midseason at the latest. Hardesty is an absolute bargain at his current ADP of 9.12.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger met with Commissioner Roger Goodell this morning and officially had his suspension reduced to 4 games. This was expected all along, but it’s nice to have confirmation if you’re drafting this weekend. The Steelers have a Week 5 bye, so Big Ben will make his season debut in Week 6 vs. the Browns.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will reportedly request that his suspension be cut in half to 3 games when he meets with Commissioner Roger Goodell tonight. The suspension was originally announced as 6 games with the potential to have it reduced to 4. But Roethlisberger believes he’s done enough to have his punishment knocked down to 3 games. The Steelers host the Panthers tonight at 7:30 ET. Check Shark Bites after the game or early tomorrow morning for an update on Big Ben’s status.
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will meet with NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell after the team’s preseason finale on Thursday. At that point, Goodell will announce the length of Big Ben’s suspension, which will range anywhere from 4 to 6 games. Given Ben’s recent good behavior, we’re inclined to think the Commish will keep him off the field for only 4 games. And with his ADP in the 10th round, he presents solid value on draft day.
Broncos rookie WR Eric Decker posted a whopping 10 catches for 114 yards in the team's preseason finale on Thursday night. It caps off an impressive exhibition campaign, but Decker will still enter Week 1 as the 4th WR on the depth chart. That being said, he's capable of quickly moving up the ranks. He's a better option in keeper leagues, but we did just add him to our 2010 rankings.
Broncos rookie WR Eric Decker suffered a left foot sprain at practice yesterday. At first, not much was thought of the injury. But doctors found a pre-existing high ankle sprain to go along with this new injury. Decker is expected to have an MRI done later today to determine whether or not the foot sprain has any relation to the Lisfranc fracture he suffered not long ago. If the two are related, Decker could miss substantial time. Decker wasn't a fantasy option outside of keeper leagues anyways.
Titans WR Kenny Britt dropped two passes and was flagged for a false start penalty in the team's 4th preseason game Thursday night. He finished the game with 1 catch for 7 yards. Despite clearly being the most talented WR on Tennessee's roster, it looks like Britt will open the season #3 on the depth chart. We just nudged him down our rankings, but we still expect him to enter the starting lineup early in the season and post decent WR3 totals.
After sitting out Friday's sessions with a hip flexor injury, Titans WR Kenny Britt was back on the field today. This is pretty surprising considering Britt said yesterday that the injury could potentially sideline him for a number of weeks. We think the early return has something to do with Britt realizing that his starting job may not be so concrete after a terrible offseason. We'll be keeping an eye on the injury.
Titans WR Kenny Britt's miserable offseason continued on Friday when a sore hip kept him out of practice. "I don’t understand it. It’s not even something I did on the field," Britt said. "I just woke up with it (Thursday). It was a little sore and then I ran around, aggravated it some more during (Thursday’s) practice. So they’re just giving me some time off to see how I do." It doesn't seem like a serious issue, and Britt's hoping to get back on the field on Saturday. We love this guy's upside -- and we really love his value in the 10th-round of fantasy drafts -- but he needs to get things turned around quickly here. He's still 3rd on the depth chart behind WRs Justin Gage and Nate Washington.
Cardinals RB Beanie Wells left Thursday night's preseason game with a knee injury. He actually stayed in for another play after suffering the injury, but then went to the bench to be looked at by trainers. He was later seen standing on the sidelines, and then with an ice-wrap on the knee. It didn't look serious, but we'll update his status when we learn more.
ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that although RB Tim Hightower may be the starter in Arizona, RB Beanie Wells is likely to get 75% of the team’s carries. This isn’t a sling-it-and-wing-it offense they’re running in Arizona anymore. The Cards plan on implementing a ball control style in the post-Kurt Warner era, and Beanie Wells looks to be the main beneficiary. Hightower will still get 3rd-down work, but look for Wells to be the bell cow.

All indications are that the rib injury suffered by Cardinals RB Beanie Wells yesterday is not serious. "He just got hit on the ribs, and that’s football," said HC Ken Whisenhunt. A CT scan revealed no breaks or fractures. Wells should be back on the field within the next couple days.
Should we worry about a perennial Pro Bowler who is struggling in the preseason? And how much stock should we put in a no-namer who is putting up huge numbers?
This really is the most confounding situation to handicap this year. And part of the problem is that looking at last year's situation will make you dizzy. Truth is, both backs were hampered by injuries- Stewart early and D-Will late. And Delhomme's ineffectiveness really hampered the teams offensive production, which limited potential touches for both guys early on.
You can look at the split of carries up though week 13, and say "well it looks like it'll be a 60/40 split with D-Will being the lead guy". Yeah, maybe. But remember that Stewart battled that achilles all season and practiced sparingly. Will the split be closer to 50/50 in 2010? Should we expect it to be split any greater than 60% in D-Will's favor? I doubt it.

The Cowboys backfield is starting to remind me of Denver's from several years ago. You knew that they would produce some points but figuring out who's going to produce the points was a headache. I'm wondering if they are worth messing with?
