Fantasy Football News 2018

Bills K Dan Carpenter will face competition for his job in training camp, per the Buffalo News. His competition comes from undrafted rookie Marshall Morgan, so Carpenter is the favorite. But he’ll need to show improvement after missing 6 extra points in 2015. Early drafters can safely avoid this situation.

The Bills re-signed K Dan Carpenter.  The former Dolphin excelled in Buffalo in 2013, drilling 33 of 36 FG attempts.  He added 32 extra points.  The 28-year-old isn't known for his consistency, though.  Kicking for an unpredictable Bills offense, he won’t be a recommended fantasy option in 2014.

The Bills have placed K Dustin Hopkins (groin) on season-ending injured reserve.  Dan Carpenter will continue to fill in.  He’s nailed 11 of 12 kicks thus far, but Buffalo’s QB change will make him a shaky fantasy option going forward.

Bills K Dustin Hopkins injured his groin in Monday's practice.  His status for Week 1 appears to be in doubt because the Bills signed K Dan Carpenter. We'll see who ends up getting the Week 1 nod, but it's a situation to avoid in fantasy.

The Jets released K Dan Carpenter.  It's the 3rd time he's been released this summer.  Nick Folk will open the season as the Jets' K but isn't a recommended fantasy option.

Next stop of the Dan Carpenter Tour: New York.  The Jets signed Carpenter after he was released by the Dolphins and then the Cardinals over the past week.  In New York, Carpenter will compete with Nick Folk for the starting job.  It's a situation to stay far, far away from in fantasy drafts.

The Cardinals released K Dan Carpenter.  His stay in Arizona lasted less than 1 week, as the team will now roll with 37 year-old Jay Feely.  He’s not a recommended fantasy option.

The Cardinals have signed K Dan Carpenter, who was released by the Dolphins last week.  Carpenter will compete with Jay Feely for the starting job in Arizona -- the same guy he beat out for the gig in Miami back in 2008.  Since that time, Carpenter has connected on 81.9% of his FG tries.  Feely has a 85.3% conversion rate.  This 1 could go either way.  Avoid the situation in fantasy drafts.

The Dolphins have released K Dan Carpenter.  He never had much of a chance after Miami added Caleb Sturgis in the 5th round of April's draft.  Carpenter has connected on 81.9% of his FG tries over 5 seasons with the Fins.  He could get a shot to win a job elsewhere.  Sturgis, meanwhile, isn't a recommended fantasy option on Miami's still-unproven offense.

The Palm Beach Post considers Caleb Sturgis Miami’s likely Week 1 kicker.  The rookie has struggled in camp thus far and is reportedly dealing with a groin injury.  That might force Miami to keep 2 kickers heading into the season opener.  Still, he will receive every chance to win the job as incumbent Dan Carpenter is due a hefty $2.7 million salary.  We’re avoiding this situation in 2013 fantasy drafts.

The Dolphins placed K Dan Carpenter (groin) on IR. It's unclear when the injury occurred, but he's done for the year. Miami has signed K Nate Kaeding for the season's final 2 games. He owns an impressive 87% career FG conversion rate but isn't a recommended fantasy option on the league's 25th-ranked scoring offense.

Dolphins K Dan Carpenter (groin) is active for today's game against the Raiders.  He's just a mediocre fantasy option.

Dolphins K Dan Carpenter (groin) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.  Shayne Graham kicks again in his place.

Dolphins K Dan Carpenter (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.  The Fins have signed Shayne Graham to kick in his place.  Graham nailed all 12 of his FGs for the Patriots last season and is a fine fantasy fill-in for Carpenter owners.

Dolphins K Dan Carpenter (groin) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bills after being limited in Friday’s practice. We don’t know much about the injury, but we do know that Miami tried out a handful of free-agent kickers on Friday. It means Carpenter is in danger of missing this weekend’s game. We'll have a better idea of his status based on whether or not the Fins sign a guy Friday or Saturday, but Carpenter is too risky to use in fantasy lineups regardless.
