The Panthers have hired Norv Turner as their new OC. He brings 26 years of experience as either an NFL HC or OC but is a questionable fit in Carolina. Turner's offense is catered to pocket QBs, rather than dual-threats like Cam Newton. And he favors bell-cow ball-carriers. As talented as RB Christian McCaffrey is, a bell cow he is not. We'll see how successfully Turner is able to morph his offense to fit his personnel in Carolina.

The Panthers have fired OC Mike Shula. He's been with the team since 2011, spending the past 5 seasons as OC. Carolina ranked in the top half of the league in total yards in just 2 of those 5 years, including 19th-place finishes the past 2 seasons. We'll see who the Panthers tab to replace Shula. We're especially curious to see what kind of role the new guy envisions for RB Christian McCaffrey, who caught 80 balls but carried just 117 times as a rookie.

As expected, Panthers WR Devin Funchess is active for today's playoff game against the Saints. He missed Wednesday and Thursday practices before returning to a limited Friday workout because of a shoulder issue. Combine that with Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, and Funchess carries a rough outlook into the Wild Card round. But he's at least available for fantasy football use.

Panthers S Kurt Coleman has put in 2 full practices this week after sitting out Week 17 with an ankle injury. That should mean he's ready for full duty in Sunday's playoff game against the Saints. We've added him to the playoff IDP rankings -- though Coleman remains a weak option, given that we don't expect Carolina to make it past Round 1.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (back) put in a full practice on Thursday. He was a surprise inactive after his back tightened up last weekend but is on track to play against the Saints on Sunday. Stewart totaled 23 carries for 102 yards (4.4 YPC) in 2 regular-season games vs. New Orleans.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart is inactive for today's game against the Falcons after his back tightened up on him this morning, according to the team's official website. The report adds that Carolina "will likely split carries" between Christian McCaffrey and Cameron Artis-Payne. McCaffrey will obviously dominate the pass-catching work.

Panthers S Kurt Coleman (ankle) is inactive for today’s game against the Falcons

Panthers S Kurt Coleman (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons. He put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. The 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff makes it tougher to wait on Coleman, so you might need to go a different direction in your IDP lineup. We'll confirm his status around 3 p.m. ET when the late-game inactives come out.

Panthers DE Mario Addison (hip) is active for today's game against the Buccaneers. He put in just a limited practice Friday after sitting out the previous 2 days, but his playing time didn't suffer last week, when the injury occurred. Addison will be worth using in an upside matchup in most cases.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is active for today’s game against the Bucs. He got in just a limited practice on Friday after aggravating that shoulder injury last week. Funchess is a risk/reward WR2 vs. Tampa’s 32nd-ranked WR defense.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is expected to play against the Bucs today. He's been battling this shoulder injury for a few weeks now and aggravated it in last Sunday's win over the Packers. He got in just 1 limited practice this week. It adds some risk to Funchess' Week 16 profile, but he also has plenty of upside vs. Tampa's 32nd-ranked WR defense.

Panthers DE Mario Addison is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with a hip injury. Addison missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before putting in a limited workout Friday. We'll check on his status Sunday morning. Carolina, of course, will definitely go without OLB Thomas Davis, who was suspended 1 game for an illegal hit that left Packers WR Davante Adams concussed.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bucs. He’s fully expected to play but isn’t at 100% after putting in just a limited practice on Friday. Funchess is a risk/reward WR2 vs. Tampa’s 32nd-ranked WR defense.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. He's been battling that shoulder injury for a while now and aggravated it last week. We haven't heard that Funchess is in danger of missing this weekend's game against the Bucs, but check back tomorrow for another update.

Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) is active for today’s game against the Vikings. He put in 3 full practices this week, and HC Ron Rivera said Olsen won’t be on a snap count. Still, he remains a risky fantasy play after failing to make it through the entire game last time out. Minnesota also ranks 6th in fantasy points allowed to TEs.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is active for today’s game against the Vikings. It doesn’t sound like the shoulder will be a major issue, but shadow coverage from CB Xavier Rhodes certainly is. Funchess is a low-end WR3 in this matchup.

Panthers WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Vikings. He put in full practices on Wednesday and Thursday but was sidelined on Friday. ESPN's David Newton reports that Funchess was "held out as a precaution" and is "likely" to play. We'll find out for sure by noon ET on Sunday. But Funchess is a shaky Week 14 fantasy play at less than 100% in a matchup against Minnesota CB Xavier Rhodes.

The Panthers listed TE Greg Olsen (foot) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. But he put in 3 full practices this week and will play. HC Ron Rivera even said that Olsen won't be on a snap count. He remains a risky fantasy bet, though, after failing to make it through the entire game last time out. Minnesota also ranks 6th in fantasy points allowed to TEs.

Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) returned to practice on Wednesday. That puts him on track to play against the Vikings as long as that foot holds up throughout the week. Olsen will be extremely tough to trust in fantasy lineups, though, after lasting just a little more than 1 half last time out.

Panthers LBs Thomas Davis (hamstring) and Shaq Thompson (foot) are active for today's game against the Saints. Both defenders entered the day questionable. Davis has been a mediocre IDP option even when healthy and playing full time this year, so don't expect either to be much of an IDP factor. There is tackle upside, at least, against this year's run-driven Saints offense.
