The Dolphins have coaxed QB Jay Cutler out of retirement with a 1-year, $10 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The move is a sure sign that the team has elected to have QB Ryan Tannehill undergo season-ending surgery on his ACL. Cutler's 2016 season ended with a torn labrum, and he finished with a 59.1% completion rate, 4 TDs and 5 INTs in 5 appearances. The year prior, though, he connected on 64.4% of his attempts with 21 TDs and 11 INTs. That season came under OC Adam Gase, who is now HC of the Dolphins. That experience in the offense will help Cutler get ready with Week 1 just 5 weeks away. Cutler will be piloting a run-heavy offense and is no more than a lower-end QB2 in fantasy. But he'll keep this offense on schedule. We're not moving any Miami skill-position players down the rankings.

QB Jay Cutler announced his retirement on Friday. The enigmatic 34-year-old sat on the free-agent market all offseason without generating much interest. There was a time when teams were willing to put up with his attitude in exchange for his big arm, but his skills have deteriorated over the past few years. Cutler has signed on with FOX to work the broadcast booth, although we're guessing he'd un-retire if a team came calling at some point during the season. For now, Cutler hangs up the cleats with 32,467 passing yards, 208 TDs and 146 INTs in 11 NFL seasons.

Bears insider Adam Hoge reports that "there's a strong belief" at this week's NFL owners meeting that QB Jay Cutler won't play in 2017. He reportedly drew some interest from the Jets before they signed QB Josh McCown, but Cutler's market has otherwise been quiet. Considering he turns 34 in April, it'd be tough to see him reemerging as a starter if he sits out this season. Cutler's dynasty value is just about nil.

The Bears will release QB Jay Cutler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Chicago tried to trade the 33-year-old but found no takers. Cutler has a chance to land a starting job on the open market, though, perhaps with the Jets. His 2016 season ended with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder that he's still rehabbing.

Bears QB Jay Cutler will undergo season-ending surgery on Saturday to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, HC John Fox announced. That might be the end of his Chicago career considering he's owed $15 million in 2017. Cutler turns 34 in April.
