Washington WR Pierre Garcon drew a team-high 6 targets in Sunday's win over the Eagles, catching 5 of them for 59 yards and a TD. Garcon has proved to be the best bet for consistent volume, especially with TE Jordan Reed limited or out. He'll remain a solid PPR play the rest of the way in fantasy football lineups.

ESPN's Britt McHenry hears that the Redskins are "doing more to incorporate" WR Pierre Garcon into the offense this season.  Garcon led the team with 105 targets and 68 catches last year, but those marks were way down from his 113 grabs on 184 looks the previous season.  The big change in 2014 was the arrival of DeSean Jackson, who garnered 94 targets.  D-Jax is still around, so don't expect Garcon to approach his big 2013 totals.  But his volume could grow a bit, and he's capable of improving upon last year's 11.1 yards per catch and 3 TDs.  Garcon is a fine value at his current 10th-round ADP.

Washington WR Pierre Garcon returned to the field Saturday after missing the previous 2 workouts and the preseason opener against the Patriots.  Garcon has been dealing with a hamstring strain but has downplayed the injury.  The relatively quick return this last time seems to indicate that he should be fine for the regular season -- barring re-injury at any point, of course.  We're not adjusting Garcon's fantasy outlook at this point.  Draft him as you planned to before any hamstring trouble set in.

Redskins WR Pierre Garcon will miss Thursday's preseason game against New England with a hamstring injury. HC Jay Gruden called his injury “minor,” so there’s no cause for concern. DeSean Jackson is unlikely to play in the Thursday night tilt as well after tweaking his ankle in Wednesday’s practice. The 2014 fantasy outlook for both players remains unaffected.

Washington WR Pierre Garcon sat out Tuesday's joint practice with the Patriots to rest his sore hamstring.  He originally suffered the injury July 28 and missed a few days of workouts but had returned before Tuesday.  “Just being precautious,” Garcon said (making up a word), via CSNWashington.com. “If it was a game today, I would have been able to play.”  No word yet on whether Garcon will play in Thursday's preseason opener against New England.  We'll be keeping an eye on his hammy situation, but it doesn't seem like an issue that should push him down your fantasy football draft board at this point.

Injury Predictor

Drafting Garcon in fantasy has been unexciting for a while. This season, it looks downright risky. Besides his own limitations and the crowd listed above, Garcon heads into the final year of his contract and will turn 30 in early August. Washington has more reason to try to phase him out and work in the younger guys -- as long as they prove ready -- than it does to try to keep featuring Garcon on offense. He’ll need to reach WR5 range to make much sense in your draft.
