The Steelers continued their veteran cap purge Friday by releasing veteran ILB James Farrior. The 37-year-old endured his worst fantasy season since 2002 last year and is unlikely to land anywhere else as a starter. His departure could clear the way for 3rd-year player Stevenson Sylvester.
Steelers ILB James Farrior returned for a full practice Wednesday after missing the past 2 games with a calf injury. That should put him on track to start Sunday against the Bengals, who allowed him 10 total tackles in each meeting last year. We'll certainly keep an eye out for any setback this week, though. Meanwhile, S Troy Polamalu missed practice Wednesday with what appears to be a minor rib injury. We expect him to play but will watch throughout the week.
The Steelers have downgraded ILB James Farrior to OUT for today's matchup with the Patriots. 2nd-year LB Stevenson Sylvester will start in his place, leaving no Pittsburgh LB as a strong fantasy option this week.
Steelers ILB James Farrior practiced on a limited basis all week and is questionable with a calf injury. A 4 p.m. kickoff Sunday means IDP owners must make sure to have an insurance policy in place in case Farrior is deactivated. If you're deciding between Farrior and an early-game player, go for the early guy.
