RB Ryan Torain is fully expected to enter 2011 as the Redskins' starter.  But it sounds like he'll be sharing carries.  Citing Torain's injury history, OC Kyle Shanahan said that they'll "have to help him out with other guys."  Shanahan continued, "I think Ryan can be very good. He's a very good natural runner. His problem has always been staying healthy. That'll be the deciding factor in whether he's a solid back or a very good back.”  Keiland Williams and James Davis are currently the RBs directly behind Torain on Washington's depth chart.  They may add another piece to the puzzle this offseason through the draft or free-agency.

As expected, the Redskins have officially released RB Clinton Portis.  He was due to make a ridiculous $25 million over the next 3 seasons.  Portis finishes his career in D.C. as the team's 2nd all-time leading rusher, although he missed 28 games in 7 seasons.  Just about washed-up at 29 years old, he won't land a feature back job on the open market.  The 'Skins will move forward with Ryan Torain, Keiland Williams, and James Davis as the top-3 RBs on their depth chart.

As expected, Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) is active for today's game against the Bucs.  He'll split the workload with RBs James Davis and Keiland Williams.

Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) made it through a full week of practice and will play against the Bucs on Sunday.  But he's been out since Week 8, and HC Mike Shanahan hinted that the team won't give him a full workload.  "The longer a guy is out, the more careful you have to be," Shanny said.  Look for Torain to split carries with RBs James Davis and Keiland Williams.  Avoid the entire backfield in fantasy.

The Washington Post speculates that Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) could start Sunday's game against the Bucs.  Torain returned to a limited practice on Wednesday and seems to be close to 100%.  But this backfield is a complete guessing game with Keiland Williams and James Davis still in the picture.  Stay away.

Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) returned to practice on Friday.  He's considered a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Giants.  His return would further muddle an already-murky backfield that includes Keiland Williams and James Davis.  Avoid the entire situation until we see how the workload will be divvied up.

Redskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings.  RB Keiland Williams will start, with RB James Davis serving as his backup.

Redskins HC Mike Shanahan calls RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) a "long shot" to play this Sunday against the Vikings.  Shanny used the same words to describe RB Clinton Portis' chances of suiting up.  Look for RB Keiland Williams to start Week 12, with RB James Davis serving as his backup.

Browns RB Jerome Harrison (thigh) is inactive for today's game against the Browns.  RB Peyton Hillis will likely draw the start, but RB James Davis will also be plenty involved.  We'll be keeping a close eye on this game, but both Hillis and Davis are weak fantasy plays in a tough matchup.

Browns RB Jerome Harrison (thigh) missed his 3rd straight practice on Friday.  The team listed him as questionable, but we'd be surprised if he played against the Ravens Sunday.  RBs Peyton Hillis and James Davis will share the backfield in his place.  We'd recommend avoiding the entire Cleveland backfield this week.

Browns RB Jerome Harrison (thigh) missed practice for the 2nd straight day on Thursday.  At this point, his status for Sunday's game against the Ravens is in serious doubt.  Banged-up with a difficult matchup, Harrison should be nowhere near your starting lineup this week.  RBs Peyton Hillis and James Davis will likely see increased roles, but neither is a strong fantasy option.

The initial diagnosis on Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty’s injured knee is a torn ACL. He’ll undergo more tests later today, but it sounds like he’ll miss the entire 2010 season. It’s a tough blow as Cleveland was counting on this guy having a sizeable impact this year. RB Jerome Harrison is obviously the big winner here. He could be a 20-touch guy and is a legitimate RB2 in fantasy leagues. RBs Peyton Hillis and James Davis will also see increased roles, but neither is a fantasy option.
