Chad Ochocinco UNS -WR
released by DolphinsThe Dolphins have released WR Chad Ochocinco. He was reportedly on a "one-strike arrangement" with the team, and this weekend's domestic abuse arrest was a big one. With that black cloud hanging over his head, Ocho is unlikely to draw any interest on the open market. Meanwhile, Miami's WR corps goes from awful to hideous. Davone Bess and Legedu Naanee look like the top 2 right now, although Brian Hartline could quickly climb the depth chart once he gets over the leg injury he's been dealing with. Bess is the only guy we'd consider in fantasy drafts though -- and we'd only consider him late.

charged with domestic violenceDolphins WR Chad Ochocinco has been charged with domestic violence. He allegedly head-butted his wife during an argument and drew blood. We'll wait for more information of this incident, but this is Ocho's first arrest since entering the league. He should escape without a league suspension, but it's just another reason to avoid an aging WR on a sub-par passing game.

Miami's best WR?Dolphins insider Armando Salguero calls Chad Ochocinco the team's best WR early on in camp. That says just as much about Miami's ugly WR corps as it does Ocho's ability. Still, we're warming up to the idea of Ochocinco being in the Dolphins' Week 1 starting lineup, especially with WR Brian Hartline dealing with a leg injury. That'd at least make Ocho worth late-round consideration in fantasy drafts.

likes new fit in MiamiDolphins WR Chad Ochocinco believes he's in a much better spot now than he was last season. "The Dolphins are the right team, the right offense. I'm at the good place in my life," Ocho says. "Everything fits perfectly for me." We're skeptical considering Miami's new West Coast attack requires disciplined timing and route-running. Those have never been Chad's strengths. On top of that, his skills have eroded at 34 years old. Throw in Miami's shaky QB situation, and it's tough to expect much of a fantasy impact from Ochocinco this season.

headed to MiamiThe Dolphins have signed WR Chad Ochocinco to a 1-year deal. It was Chad’s preferred landing spot, and Miami certainly had – still has, rather – a glaring need at WR. A year after catching just 15 balls for the Patriots last season, we’re not expecting the 34-year-old to be the player he was in Cincinnati. But if he shows his early career dedication to the game, there’s no reason he can’t capture a starting gig. Brian Hartline is locked into an outside role, while Davone Bess will handle slot duties. Considering the candidates to start opposite Hartline, though – Legedu Naanee, B.J Cunningham, Clyde Gates and others – you have to like 85’s chances. Still, lackluster QB play and Ocho’s diminishing skill set leave him as just a late round flier.

released by PatriotsThe Patriots have released WR Chad Ochocinco after reportedly spending the day trying -- and failing -- to find a trade partner. No surprise on either account. Not only is Ocho over-the-hill physically at 34 years old, but he was also unable (or unwilling) to pick up New England's offense. He figures to get a crack at a roster spot elsewhere this summer, but he won't be a fantasy factor.

staying in New EnglandWR Chad Ochocinco has restructured his contract with the Patriots, lowering his 2012 salary from $3 million to $1 million. Ocho was a disaster in his first season in New England, totaling just 276 yards and 1 TD on 15 receptions. He never got comfortable in the offense and struggled to separate from defenders. That first problem can be fixed with a full offseason, but the second can't. Ochocinco isn't a good bounce-back candidate.

ruled out for Week 12Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles. There's some speculation that his roster spot is in jeopardy. Ocho has been a non-factor all season and shouldn't be on fantasy rosters.

out Friday with hamstringPatriots WR Chad Ochocinco was held out of Friday's practice with a hamstring injury. He's listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Players who don't practice on Friday rarely play for HC Bill Belichick. Of course, Ocho isn't a fantasy option anyways. WR Taylor Price would likely pick up a few extra snaps if Ocho is inactive.

role will change by the weekPatriots OC Bill O'Brien says that WR Chad Ochocinco's playing time will change from "week-to-week." He added that "Chad has worked hard to improve every week." This doesn't tell us much besides the fact that Ocho's role in the offense will depend on the matchup and gameplan. That, in turn, will make him a risky fantasy play. Until he gets more comfortable in New England's offense -- and finds his groove with QB Tom Brady -- Ocho needs to be planted firmly on your bench.

throws up a dudOn a night when QB Tom Brady threw for an otherworldly 517 yards and 4 TDs, WR Chad Ochocinco was nearly shut out. He caught just 1 of 3 targets for 14 yards. Tough to find a more disappointing Week 1 performance. Even more damning is the fact that Ocho was on the field for just 18 of New England's 80 offensive snaps. Deion Branch, meanwhile, played 62 snaps. Ochocinco clearly isn't comfortable in the offense yet. He needs to be on fantasy benches until he starts to show signs of life.

not as same page as BradyPatriots WR Chad Ochocinco went catchless on 4 targets in Saturday night's preseason game against the Lions. One of those passes was picked off. It's clear that Ocho and QB Tom Brady aren't entirely on the same page yet. Expect the two veterans to get things clicking soon, although it wouldn't be a surprise to see Ochocinco get off to a slow start this season.

struggling with new offensePatriots beat writer Greg Bedard reports that WR Chad Ochocinco "has had a bit of a rough time picking up the Patriots offense, which requires much more on-the-fly interpretation from the quarterback and receiver than what he ran with the Bengals." In Thursday night's preseason game, Ocho was targeted 5 times, hauling in 2 balls for 14 yards and a score. He's only been working with QB Tom Brady for 2 weeks now, so it's not surprising they're still a little out of sync. We're expecting them to be just fine by the time Week 1 rolls around.

traded to New EnglandThe Bengals have traded WR Chad Ochocinco to the Patriots in exchange for a couple of late-round draft picks -- one in 2012 and one in 2013. Ocho has also agreed to a new 3-year deal. This move has been rumored to be in the works for awhile now, and we like the fit. If anyone can keep Ocho's ego in check, it's the tag-team of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. On the field, Ocho isn't as physically dominant as he once was. But he's an excellent route-runner with reliable hands. On a top-notch Patriots offense, we like him as a WR2 in 2011 fantasy leagues. Deion Branch revived his career when he came to New England, and Ochocinco is much more talented. Speaking of Branch, he'll move to #3 on the depth chart. While he'll still see a fair amount of action, there's no way he can be considered a weekly fantasy starter anymore. Meanwhile in Cincinnati, A.J. Green and Jerome Simpson look like the Week 1 starters. Neither guy is lacking in the talent department, but on an offense led by either Bruce Gradkowski or Andy Dalton, they're WR3s at best.

willing to stay with BengalsEarlier this offseason, WR Chad Ochocinco seemed unwilling to return to Cincinnati. But he’s changed his tune since then. “I would love to still be here, and I have no problem,” said Ocho. “I can't control the situation as a whole; I can only control me. And what I've done is I've been at peace for a while now. For a while now, you haven't heard a peep out of me as far as being a problem or saying things out of context, I'm just really supporting the Bengals' organization and the city." Maybe Ocho is finally realizing that there won’t be a whole lot of interest in a declining 33-year-old WR on the open market. His best bet is to play out the final year of his contract with the Bengals for $6 million. Then again, Cincinnati seems ready to go with a youth movement at WR with A.J. Green and Jerome Simpson. Ocho might get cut this summer regardless of whether or not he wants to stay with the Bengals.

Bengals career likely overWR Chad Ochocinco concedes that his Bengals career is likely over. "I've done all I can," Ocho tweeted. "My time is up." Of course, there's no guarantee that owner Mike Brown will be willing to trade Ocho. He's signed in Cincinnati for $6 million in 2011. We should get a better idea of the Bengals' plans on Thursday night. If they go with Georgia WR A.J. Green with the 4th overall pick, Ocho can probably start packing his bags.
