Earl BennettCHI -WRINACTIVE
Bears WR Earl Bennett (hand) is inactive for today’s game against Jacksonville. A true game-time decision, Bennett wouldn’t have been a viable fantasy option even if he suited up.
Bears WR Earl Bennett (hand) is inactive for tonight's game against the Cowboys. Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and Devin Hester will operate as Chicago's top 3 WRs.
Earl BennettCHI -WRquestionable for Week 4
Bears WR Earl Bennett (hand) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game against the Cowboys. He was limited in practice all week. We're expecting him to play, but with just 6 catches in 3 games, Bennett isn't a recommended fantasy starter.
Earl BennettCHI -WRimpressive in return
Bears WR Earl Bennett returned for Monday night's game against the Eagles after missing the past 5 with a chest injury. He immediately re-emerged as QB Jay Cutler's go-to target, hauling in all 5 of his looks for 95 yards. That included a game-winning 4th-quarter TD. Bennett also lined up as a Wildcat QB on a 1st half play. It's clear the Bears want the ball in this guy's hands, and his chemistry with Cutler hasn't disappeared. Bennett could be a PPR asset down the stretch.
Earl BennettCHI -WRback for Week 9
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) has been medically-cleared and will play against the Eagles this Monday night. He's been out since Week 2 but has actually been practicing for the past couple weeks. Bennett is expected to step back in as Chicago's slot receiver, pushing rookie Dane Sanzenbacher down the depth chart. Bennett is worth monitoring as a potential PPR league asset.
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) is inactive for today's game against the Bucs. He put in a full week of practice, but the team is playing it safe and holding him out through the Week 8 bye. Dane Sanzenbacher gets another game as Chicago's slot receiver.
Earl BennettCHI -WRprobable, but not expected to play
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) put in a full week of practice and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Bucs. However, team insiders expect Bennett to be held out. Chicago has a Week 8 bye, so it sounds like they'll give him a couple more weeks to get completely healthy. Look for WR Dane Sanzenbacher to get another game as the slot receiver.
Earl BennettCHI -WRwon't play Week 7?
Bears beat writer Vaughn McClure expects the team to hold WR Earl Bennett (chest) out of this week's game against the Bucs. Bennett has been practicing in full this week, but it sounds like Chicago will play it safe and hold him out through the Week 8 bye. It means that Dane Sanzenbacher will get another game as the slot receiver.
Earl BennettCHI -WRputs in full practice on Wednesday
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) returned to a full practice on Wednesday. He's been out since Week 2 but is expected back for Sunday's game against the Bucs. It sounds like he'll get his slot job back, although WR Dane Sanzenbacher could steal snaps. Neither guy is a fantasy option right now.
As expected, Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) is inactive for tonight's game against the Vikings. WR Dane Sanzenbacher will handle slot duties again.
Earl BennettCHI -WRquestionable for Week 6
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) returned to a limited practice this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Vikings. He's not expected to play but is definitely getting close. Dane Sanzenbacher will serve as Chicago's slot receiver again this week.
Earl BennettCHI -WRout "a few more weeks"
Bears GM Jerry Angelo says WR Earl Bennett (chest) will be out "a few more weeks." We received a similar timetable a couple weeks ago, so we're not holding our breath here. Even when Bennett is ready to get back on the field, he'll have to get his job back from WR Dane Sanzenbacher. Bennett isn't worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues.
Earl BennettCHI -WRruled out for Week 5
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Lions. WR Dane Sanzenbacher will start again in his place. The rookie has caught just 9 passes for 76 yards the past 3 weeks and is only a desperation option for deep PPR leaguers.
Earl BennettCHI -WRruled out for Week 4
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers. Dane Sanzenbacher gets another start in his place after hauling in 5 balls last weekend. He can be used as an emergency starter in PPR leagues.
Earl BennettCHI -WRruled out for Week 3
Bears WR Earl Bennett (chest) has officially been ruled out for Week 3. No timetable has been set for his return. Rookie WR Dane Sanzenbacher (a Jon Gruden favorite) will take over as Chicago's primary slot man. He's worth tracking but isn't a fantasy option yet.
Earl BennettCHI -WRnot expected to play Week 3
ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson hears from a league source that WR Earl Bennett (chest) is not expected to play against the Packers this Sunday. The injury isn't believed to be serious, so we'll stop short of ruling Bennett out for sure. He shouldn't be in fantasy lineups though. Rookie WR Dane Sanzenbacher would step into the slot role if Bennett misses the game.
Earl BennettCHI -WRinjury doesn't look serious
It looks like Bears WR Earl Bennett avoided a serious injury when he took a big hit in Sunday's game against the Saints. The team is calling it a bruised chest. Bennett's status for Week 3 is still unclear, but it doesn't seem like he'll miss much time.
Earl BennettCHI -WRsuffers chest injury
Bears WR Earl Bennett left Sunday's game with a chest injury after taking a big hit over the middle of the field. His return is considered questionable.
Earl BennettCHI -WRstands out among Bears WRs
Bears QB Jay Cutler had this to say about WR Earl Bennett after Saturday's game: "I just feel comfortable with him out there. In a couple of words, he's just a football player. We need more of them in the locker room." It's tough to ask your QB to compliment you much better. The Bears' offense presents a confusing jumble at WR for fantasy owners this year, but Bennett might just be the closest thing to a beacon. He remains a potential steal in drafts right now, with an ADP so low that it doesn't even register in most rankings. Bennett leads the Bears with 10 catches this preseason. RB Khalil Bell, rookie WR Dane Sanzenbacher and RB Marion Barber sit behind him with 6 each. WR Devin Hester leads the "starters" with 5.
Earl BennettCHI -WRrole will increase in 2011
Bears OC Mike Martz has vowed to get WR Earl Bennett more involved in the offense this year. “We didn’t throw it to him enough,” Martz admitted. “That will be remedied. He will figure in a much larger role than he did last year. He came to us late. He was injured. I wasn’t really sure where he was with all the stuff. But he established himself as a guy who needs to get a lot more balls than he did. He’s extremely reliable." After being inactive for Week 1, Bennett ended up 3rd on the team in catches (46) and 2nd in receiving yards (561). We're expecting this Bears passing game to take a step forward in their 2nd season in Martz's system, and Bennett should be a big part of that.
