Kyle OrtonDAL -QBsigns with Cowboys
QB Kyle Orton has agreed to a 3-year deal with the Cowboys. We're surprised he didn't seek a better opportunity for a starting job. Orton isn't a threat to QB Tony Romo but does give Dallas a high-quality insurance policy. Romo has missed 13 games over the past 4 seasons.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBactive, starting
As expected, Chiefs QB Kyle Orton (finger) is active and will start against the Packers today. He'll wear a glove on his throwing hand to protect that finger. Despite the plus matchup, we'd hesitate to use Orton in fantasy lineups in his first start with the Chiefs. But his availability should be a good thing for WR Dwayne Bowe.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBwill start Sunday
Chiefs HC Romeo Crennel said Friday that QB Kyle Orton's injured finger held up fine in practice all week and that he'll start on Sunday. Crennel immediately demoted Tyler Palko to 3rd string upon taking over for the deposed Todd Haley. Orton is not a real fantasy option at this point despite the favorable matchup with Green Bay. His health is good news for WR Dwayne Bowe, though.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBin line to start Week 15
Chiefs insider Nick Wright is hearing that, "barring an injury in practice," QB Kyle Orton will start this Sunday's game against the Packers. Orton suffered a dislocated right index finger 2 weeks ago, but we heard he was actually available for this past Sunday's game. Former HC Todd Haley decided to stick with QB Tyler Palko though. Interim HC Romeo Crennel is wisely going with Orton, who will give Kansas City a better shot to move the ball. With a plus matchup against the Packers, Orton is on the radar in 2-QB leagues.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBinactive
As expected, Chiefs QB Kyle Orton (finger) is inactive for today's game against the Jets. QB Tyler Palko gets another start but shouldn't be anywhere near your fantasy lineup.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBdoubtful for Week 14
Chiefs QB Kyle Orton (finger) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jets. He practiced a bit this week but isn't ready for game-action. QB Tyler Palko gets another start in a brutal matchup. He's hands-off in fantasy.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBlimited Wednesday
Chiefs QB Kyle Orton (finger) was able to put in a limited practice on Wednesday. It means he has a legitimate chance to be available for Sunday's game against the Jets. It's unclear if Orton or QB Tyler Palko would start though. Neither is a recommended fantasy option.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBfinger not in cast
Chiefs HC Todd Haley declined to update QB Kyle Orton's (finger) status in his Monday press conference. But Orton was spotted in the locker room with his finger bandaged but not in a cast. It at least seems possible that he'll be available for this Sunday's game against the Jets. We'll update his status throughout the week.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBhas dislocated finger
X-rays on Chiefs QB Kyle Orton's injured right (throwing) hand revealed no break but a dislocated index finger. It's unclear how long Orton will be out, but he'll likely get a shot as Kansas City's starter if he can get healthy. QB Tyler Palko "led" the Chiefs to a win on Sunday, completing just 17 of 30 passes for 157 yards and 1 TD. Neither guy is worth rostering outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues though.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBenters, leaves with finger injury
Chiefs QB Kyle Orton entered for QB Tyler Palko near the end of the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Bears. On his first play, Orton went down with a finger injury. We're hearing it's broken. Palko is back in the game.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBclaimed by Chiefs
The Chiefs have claimed QB Kyle Orton off waivers. QB Tyler Palko still figures to start Monday night's game against the Steelers, but we wouldn't be surprised if Orton was under center for Week 13. He has a brand new offense to learn but is more experienced and more talented than Palko. Still, we can't recommend him as anything more than an emergency option for fantasy leaguers down the stretch. The addition is good news for WR Dwayne Bowe though. The interesting angle here is that the Chiefs may be using this as a try-out of sorts for Orton. He'll be a free-agent this offseason, but if he plays well the rest of this year, Kansas City might look to bring him back to compete with QB Matt Cassel.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBwaived by Broncos
The Broncos have waived QB Kyle Orton. Strange timing, but it's an interesting development because of the teams that have lost their starting QBs over the past couple weeks. Houston, Chicago, or Kansas City could all be interested in bringing Orton on board for the stretch run. And he could have QB2 value with the Texans or Bears. We'll track this situation, but Orton isn't worth adding unless you have an unused roster spot laying around.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBbenched in 2nd half
Broncos QB Kyle Orton was benched in favor of QB Tim Tebow in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Chargers. Orton had completed just 6 of 13 passes for 34 yards and 1 INT, while leading the offense to just 3 points. With the Broncos staring at a 1-4 record, the move to Tebow could be permanent.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBstarting job in danger
CBS Sports' Mike Freeman hears that the Broncos are "privately softening their stance about starting Tebow at quarterback." HC John Fox has been in Kyle Orton's corner all offseason, but he's struggled early this year. Despite tossing for 273 yards and 3 TDs this past Sunday, Orton also missed a couple open deep balls and threw 3 INTs. Sitting at 1-3, it'll soon be time for this new Broncos coaching staff to see what they have in Tebow. Fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on Orton as their QB2 because he could lose his job at any time now.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBjob a little less safe
First he was booed by his home crowd. Then came the "Tebow!" chants. It wasn't a fun night for Broncos QB Kyle Orton. He completed just 24 of 46 passes and turned the ball over twice -- 1 INT and 1 fumble -- in his team's 23-20 loss to the Raiders. HC John Fox was asked after the game if he considered pulling Orton for Tebow. He ignored the question. But the cries for Tebow will only get louder unless Orton is absolutely magnificent. He's a mid-range QB2 as long as he's on the field, but Orton's starting job is far from secure.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBgood again
QB Kyle Orton went 16-of-23 on Saturday night for 236 yards, a TD and an INT. Through 3 exhibitions, Orton ranks 3rd in the league in passing yards and behind only Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers in passer rating. Orton isn't exciting as a fantasy option and carries less upside with Josh McDaniels gone. He should remain a solid backup, though, and certainly the starter ahead of Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBofficially named starter
The Broncos have officially named Kyle Orton their starting QB. It was just a formality. Orton was better than Tim Tebow last year, and has clearly out-played the former Florida Gator over the past month. That being said, we'd still bet on Tebow seeing a few starts late in the year. Denver figures to be out of playoff contention early, and the new coaching staff needs to see what it has in Tebow since Orton will be a free-agent in 2012. That -- coupled with HC John Fox's run-heavy scheme -- makes Orton just a low-end QB2.
Kyle OrtonDAL -QBlocked-in as starter
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Kyle Orton is locked-in as Denver's starting QB this year. "The Denver Broncos are not going to trade Kyle Orton," Schefter continues. "That's not going to happen." We've been hesitant to make the move, but we just adjusted our projections to reflect Orton starting the majority of Denver's games this year. Schefter is a former Broncos beat writer and has close ties to the organization. We believe him when he says that this is Orton's offense. Tebow will mix in as a rushing specialist and could still see starts down the stretch. But he can't be considered a fantasy option at this point. Meanwhile, Denver's pass-catchers get upgrades with Orton at the controls.
