Steelers OC Bruce Arians doesn't expect to have WR Emmanuel Sanders (knee) available for Thursday night's game against the Browns.  He's managed just 3 catches for 31 yards over the last 2 weeks.  His absence will mean a few extra snaps for WRs Hines Ward and Jerricho Cotchery, but neither guy is a fantasy option.  WRs Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown will continue to dominate targets.

According to Steelers beat writer Mike Bires, WR Emmanuel Sanders -- not WR Antonio Brown -- will start against the Patriots on Sunday if WR Hines Ward (ankle) can't.  The news isn't as big of a deal as it sounds.  Sanders and Brown will split snaps, and will likely both be on the field together quite a bit.  Sanders actually played more snaps than Brown last week, but Brown was more productive.  That's been the case all season, and Brown remains the superior fantasy play this week.  Sanders still makes for a high-upside WR3 option though -- assuming Ward is out.

Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders is expected to miss the next 3 weeks of training camp and preseason action.  He underwent surgeries on both feet this offseason, and it sounds like he suffered a setback.  He's currently in a walking boot.  The 3-week timetable means Sanders would have just a week-and-a-half to get ready for Pittsburgh's season-opener.  There's obviously no way he'll be passing Hines Ward on the depth chart before then, and we'd bet against Sanders making an early-season fantasy impact.

Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders is completely recovered from the 2 foot surgeries he underwent this offseason.  After a strong finish to the 2010 season, he's primed to push Hines Ward for the team's #2 WR spot this year.

Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson believes that Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders will pass Hines Ward on the depth chart at some point this season.  We've been leaning that way all offseason and actually have Sanders ranked higher than Ward in our preseason projections. In fact, Sanders was just about as productive as Ward during the 2nd half of last season.  Over the final 8 weeks, Sanders racked up 300 yards and 2 TDs on 24 catches. Ward caught 29 balls for 380 yards and 1 TD. Both guys were targeted 45 times over that span. Expect that split to favor Sanders in 2011.  He's one of our favorite late-round WR picks.

Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette chose WR Emmanuel Sanders when asked to name a player he thinks is ready to breakout in 2011.  Sanders came on during the 2nd half of his rookie season, racking up 23 catches, 300 yards, and 2 scores over Pittsburgh's final 8 games.  A speedster in the mold of teammate Mike Wallace, we're expecting Sanders to steal even more targets from WR Hines Ward this year.
