needs to improve handsBroncos insider Jeff Legwold believes WR Eric Decker must eliminate drops in order to “take the next step.” According to Pro Football Focus, Decker whiffed on 12 of 97 catchable balls, leading to a 12.37% drop rate. While owners still enjoyed a top 10 fantasy season, there's still room for even more production going forward. A full offseason with Peyton Manning and some extra time with the Jugs machine should cure his ills.

knee not an issueBroncos WR Eric Decker confirmed that the knee injury he suffered in last season's playoff win over the Steelers isn't any issue heading into 2012. “I feel great," he said. "It took me probably about a month after the MCL sprain to get back and then it was just conditioning, getting in the weight room and then really taking care of my body... This is the best I’ve felt going into training camp and I think I’m looking forward to having a big year.” Decker also revealed that he's been working out at Larry Fitzgerald's camp over the past few weeks. Participation there has preceeded breakout seasons for plenty of WRs in recent years. Decker is fully capable of joining that group in 2012. We're all over him at his current 6th-round ADP.

praised by Peyton ManningAt a press conference on Tuesday, Broncos QB Peyton Manning heaped praise on WR Eric Decker. Manning called him the "veteran" of the receiver group and revealed that the coaching staff is planning on moving Decker around the field more in 2012. Manning and Decker have been working out together since Manning signed with the Broncos, and there's clearly some chemistry being built here. While Demaryius Thomas is clearly the most talented WR in Denver, Decker could finish with the better numbers this season.

has a fan in Peyton ManningESPN's Chris Mortensen mentioned on SportsCenter Tuesday that new Broncos QB Peyton Manning is a fan of WR Eric Decker. Manning reportedly watched film on Decker prior to the 2010 draft and came away impressed. Although Demaryius Thomas is the most talented receiver on the Broncos' roster, Decker is the better route-runner. That'll certainly endear him to Manning. Decker finished 36th among WRs in 2011 but could easily vault into the top-25 with Peyton under center this year.

ruled out for Divisional RoundBroncos WR Eric Decker (knee) has officially been ruled out for Saturday night's game against the Patriots. He sprained his MCL last week and is unlikely to play again this season, regardless of how long Denver's miraculous run lasts. WR Eddie Royal will move into the starting lineup in Decker's place. He's not a reliable fantasy option, but he does come with some upside this weekend against New England's leaky secondary.

has "no chance" to play this weekNFL.com's Jeff Darlington confirms that Broncos WR Eric Decker (knee) has "no chance" to play against the Patriots this weekend. He has a sprained MCL, which is usually a 3-4 week injury. Decker's season is almost certainly over -- even if Denver beats New England on Saturday night. Eddie Royal will take over as the Broncos' #2 WR.

only has sprained MCLGood news and bad news for Broncos WR Eric Decker. It turns out he only suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday' game against the Steelers, avoiding any damage to his ACL. It means he'll be ready for all offseason activities. But it'll also knock him out for the remainder of the playoffs. WR Eddie Royal will start in his place against the Patriots this Saturday night.
Update: The Broncos have not ruled Decker out for this weekend's game. We'd still bet against him playing, but we'll update his status throughout the week.

likely has torn ACLThe Denver Post reports that Broncos WR Eric Decker suffered a "serious" ACL injury in Sunday's win over the Steelers. Decker took a hit straight to the knee in the 2nd quarter and was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game. It's likely a torn ACL, and we should get confirmation tomorrow. WR Eddie Royal will start in Decker's place against the Patriots this Saturday.

starting job in danger? When the Broncos return from their Week 6 bye, WRs Eddie Royal (groin) and Demaryius Thomas (Achilles, finger) are expected to be ready to return to action. That has WR Eric Decker's status in flux. The Minnesota product has been a pleasant surprise so far, compiling 266 yards and 4 TDs through 5 games. Royal shouldn't be a threat to his playing time. But Thomas, if healthy, is undoubtedly more talented than Decker and could steal snaps and targets. It'll be something to monitor over the next few weeks. Of course, if QB Tim Tebow is at the controls, Brandon Lloyd will likely be the only Denver WR worth starting on a weekly basis.

shining in campBroncos WR Eric Decker has been the star of training camp so far. "You could see as [last] season went on he got a lot of production, and now he has just taken off," HC John Fox said. "I'm expecting big things from him." As a rookie last year, Decker went catch-less through the first 10 games. He hauled in 6 balls for 106 yards and a score in the final 6. He reportedly spent extra time this offseason working with QB Kyle Orton, and it seems to be paying off. Decker has been lining up both in the slot and on the outside in camp. We like him to eventually pass WR Eddie Royal in the pecking order this season. For more on Decker, check out our Sleepers article.

running with 1sWR Eric Decker has been running with the 1st team as Z receiver for the past week while Eddie Royal sits out. Royal is out with soreness in the hip that didn't require off-season surgery. He's expected back this week -- before the 2nd exhibition game. Still, extra time with the starters can only help Decker's case for playing time. The hip, of course, is a worrisome spot for Royal in light of last year's injury. That led to problems with his groin and thigh. Neither is tremendously appealing in fantasy right now, but Decker seems the more-attractive late-round shot.

explodes for 10 catchesBroncos rookie WR Eric Decker posted a whopping 10 catches for 114 yards in the team's preseason finale on Thursday night. It caps off an impressive exhibition campaign, but Decker will still enter Week 1 as the 4th WR on the depth chart. That being said, he's capable of quickly moving up the ranks. He's a better option in keeper leagues, but we did just add him to our 2010 rankings.

could miss extended timeBroncos rookie WR Eric Decker suffered a left foot sprain at practice yesterday. At first, not much was thought of the injury. But doctors found a pre-existing high ankle sprain to go along with this new injury. Decker is expected to have an MRI done later today to determine whether or not the foot sprain has any relation to the Lisfranc fracture he suffered not long ago. If the two are related, Decker could miss substantial time. Decker wasn't a fantasy option outside of keeper leagues anyways.
