Torrey SmithBAL -WRJets-Ravens weather update
The forecast for today's Jets-Ravens game is 31 degrees, 19 mph winds and a chance of snow showers. The wind figures to make downfield passing a bit tougher, which could be bad news for QB Joe Flacco and WR Torrey Smith. Flacco isn't a recommended fantasy starter today. We still like Smith as a WR2 against a burnable Jets secondary. New York's passing game is best off avoided in fantasy. Expect a big workload for RB Chris Ivory.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRRavens-Bears weather update
The forecast for today's Ravens-Bears game calls for a 70% chance of rain with 25-35 mph winds. "Damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado with some storms," the weather.com forecast says. The passing games will definitely be impacted. Expect a run-heavy game plan from both teams and shorts throws when they do take to the air. We just adjusted our projections for this game. Storms are also expected for the Jets-Bills, Lions-Steelers and Browns-Bengals games, but the conditions won't be bad enough to impact our rankings. You can use the weather as a tiebreaker if you're deciding between 2 players.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRSmith staying cool amidst rising expecations
Ravens WR Torrey Smith knows he's being counted on more than ever before in 2013. But he's staying cool following the trade of WR Anquan Boldin and the season-ending injury to TE Dennis Pitta. “No, I never feel pressure at all,” Smith told the Baltimore Sun. “My job doesn't change.
Obviously, I expect more out of myself performance-wise whether they
were there or not." Smith was already poised for a possible breakout season before Pitta went down. He'll have to overcome lots of increased coverage, but the 3rd-year man looks like a capable fantasy WR2 as the team's primary pass-catcher.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRactive
As expected, Ravens WR Torrey Smith (concussion) is active for today's game against the Giants. Although he's caught just 5 balls in his last 3 games, Smith has plenty of upside vs. the league's 29th-ranked WR defense.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRcleared to play Week 16
Pro Football Talk reports that Ravens WR Torrey Smithh (concussion) has been cleared to play in today's game against the Giants. He put in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Although he's been ice cold lately, Smith always carries WR1 upside. And he has a plus matchup against the league's 29th-ranked WR defense. He's a classic boom/bust fantasy option.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRquestionable for Week 16
Ravens WR Torrey Smith (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Giants. He put in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. It's unclear if Smith has been cleared for game action, but HC John Harbaugh said Friday afternoon that he's "encouraged" by Smith's progress. We're expecting him to play, but owners planning on using him should add WR Jacoby Jones (or another late-game WR) as a handcuff.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRback at practice Thursday
Ravens WR Torrey Smith (concussion) returned to practice on Thursday. It puts him on track to play against the Giants this weekend. Although Smith has totaled just 5 catches and 68 yards over the past 3 weeks, he'll carry plenty of upside vs. the league's 29th-ranked WR defense.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRunable to practice Wednesday
Ravens WR Torrey Smith (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He's yet to receive medical clearance. Owners shouldn't be counting on having Smith available for Week 16. WR Jacoby Jones would replace Smith in the starting lineup against the Giants, but he'd only be a desperation fantasy option.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRhas a concussion
The Baltimore Sun confirms that Ravens WR Torrey Smith sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. He never returned after slamming his head on the turf in the 3rd quarter. He reportedly "seemed fine" afterwards, joking that he couldn't remember the game. It looks like Smith avoided a serious head injury, but he's still in a race to get cleared ahead of this coming Sunday's game against the Giants. WR Jacoby Jones would move into the starting lineup if Smith can't go.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRout with head injury
Ravens WR Torrey Smith suffered a head injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday’s game against the Broncos. His head slammed against the turf after going up for a high pass. Smith was obviously woozy as he walked off the field. He went back to the locker room – presumably for concussion testing – and appears to be done for the day.
Torrey SmithBAL -WRactive
Ravens WR Torrey Smith (ankle) is active for today's game against the Chiefs. The ankle isn't a concern. Use Smith as you normally would.
