The Eagles shuffled their defensive lineup yet again on Wednesday. They replaced WLB Casey Matthews with fellow rookie Brian Rolle. Matthews was just a week removed from sliding out of the MLB role and will now work primarily on special teams. Rolle had been a sub-package replacement for pass defense since late in the preseason and has impressed coaches with his range. At just 5'10 and 229 pounds, though, it remains to be seen how Rolle will hold up in run D. Also on Wednesday, Philly replaced S Kurt Coleman with Nate Allen. You may remember Coleman for his Reggie Nelson impression on Victor Cruz's 1st TD last Sunday. Allen was a 2nd-round pick last year and starter until a patellar tendon tear ended his season. Jarrad Page remains the most interesting IDP possibility back there. It's noteworthy that 2011 2nd-rounder Jaiquawn Jarrett remains out of the picture. He has yet to be active for a game.

The Eagles shuffled their LBs on Wednesday to start the practice week. Jamar Chaney slides from SLB to the MLB slot at which he made a splash late last year as a rookie. 2011 rookie Casey Matthews gets pushed to WLB, while Moise Fokou shifts back to the SLB position he manned in 2010. The most significant fantasy move here is obviously Chaney's. Matthews looked overmatched from the 2nd preseason week and hasn't even delivered downfield tackles. He gets blocked out of way too many running plays and has gotten caught overpursuing. Chaney will still play behind a different line scheme than existed last year. These Eagles use wide splits up front and send the DEs after the QB, which can make it easier for blockers to reach the 2nd level. Still, Chaney is stouter at the point of attack and at least slightly more experienced. He was also already Philly's primary passing-down LB. He becomes IDP starting material right away.
