The Lions have signed free-agent RBs Jerome Harrison and Mike Bell.  They'll join Maurice Morris in the competition for Detroit's #2 RB job.  Harrison is easily the most talented of the bunch, but he doesn't really fit the mold of the powerful between-the-tackles runner that the Lions are looking for.  Bell is more of a bruiser but hasn't topped 4 yards per carry since his rookie year back in 2006.  We're betting that Harrison and Morris will both see time as change-of-pace options behind Jahvid Best.  But if Best were to go down, Harrison would be the recommended fantasy play.

Although he was unable to practice all week, Browns RB Peyton Hillis (ribs) is still expected to play against the Steelers on Sunday. He’s officially listed as questionable. We’d expect Cleveland to mix in RB Mike Bell a bit more this weekend, making Hillis just a RB2.

The Browns have traded RB Jerome Harrison to the Eagles in exchange for RB Mike Bell.  Both guys were off to poor starts in 2010 and needed a change of scenery.  But we'd give the Eagles the big edge in this deal -- Harrison is a much more talented player than Bell.  In Philly, he should see a handful of touches per game as a change-of-pace guy.  He's a good fit in HC Andy Reid's offense.  Bell will play a similar role in Cleveland but won't be as successful.  Harrison is the better fantasy add, but don't go rushing to the waiver wire for either guy.

Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg confirmed that a decision regarding RB LeSean McCoy's (rib) availability for Sunday's game against the 49ers will not be made untl "very late in this week."  Translation: McCoy is a game-time decision.  And with the Eagles not playing until 8:20 ET, that's bad news for fantasy owners.  You'll probably have to bench him this week unless you were able to grab backup RB Mike Bell off the waiver wire.

The Eagles have acquired RB J.J. Arrington from the Broncos in exchange for LB Joe Mays. Arrington underwent microfracture surgery on his knee in May of 2009 and missed the entire season. He's a pure 3rd-down back, but the Eagles are already set there with prolific pass-catcher LeSean McCoy. Arrington will likely have to carve out a role on special teams to make Philadelphia's final roster. He's not a threat to McCoy or Mike Bell.
