The Rams have placed WR Mark Clayton on IR, ending his 2011 season.  His only 3 catches of the year came last week.  He likely suffered a setback with that bum knee.  Clayton will be a free-agent this offseason and will need to prove he's healthy if he wants to land a job.

Rams HC Steve Spagnuolo confirmed Friday that WR Mark Clayton is expected to open the regular season on the PUP list. Clayton is still working back from the knee injury that ended his 2010 early and will be ineligible for the first 6 games. After that, we'll see how things are going with a crowded pass-catching corps.

Clayton has been running routes with Bradford recently – a good sign that he’s planning on re-signing with the Rams. If he regains his pre-injury form, Clayton could be a sneaky fantasy option. He’s worth keeping a close eye on this summer.

Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha is expected to cover Rams WR Mark Clayton today.  Interesting that Oakland sees Clayton as a bigger threat than WR Laurent Robinson.  Clayton should be on your bench today.

The Rams have acquired WR Mark Clayton from Baltimore in exchange for a late-round pick.  Clayton became expendable when the Ravens signed WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh earlier this morning.  In St. Louis, Clayton could have some fantasy impact.  He had a good camp with Baltimore and immediately becomes one of the most talented WR on St. Louis' roster.  Laurent Robinson is pretty much locked into the #1 WR role, but there's no reason Clayton can't emerge as the #2 and send Danny Amendola back to the slot.  Keep an eye on him these first few weeks.
