placed on IRThe Rams have placed WR Mark Clayton on IR, ending his 2011 season. His only 3 catches of the year came last week. He likely suffered a setback with that bum knee. Clayton will be a free-agent this offseason and will need to prove he's healthy if he wants to land a job.

activeRams WR Mark Clayton (knee) will make his 2011 debut against the Browns today. According to the Rams' official Twitter feed, Clayton will play "a lot." We'd still consider him far too risky to use in fantasy lineups, but Clayton is definitely worth monitoring -- and even adding right now in deeper leagues.

activated from PUPThe Rams have activated WR Mark Clayton (knee) from the PUP list. He's been practicing for a few weeks and is expected to play against the Browns this Sunday. Don't count on an immediate impact, but Clayton could start pushing for the #2 WR spot over the next few weeks. He's worth adding in deeper leagues.

won't play Week 7Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) won't be ready to make his 2011 debut this weekend. He's eligible to come off the PUP list -- and he got on the practice field this week -- but he's still not ready for game action after tearing his patellar tendon last season. Clayton isn't likely to make a fantasy impact until late in the year -- if at all. He's only worth stashing in deep leagues.

expects to play Week 7Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) will be activated from the PUP list this week and expects to make his season debut against the Cowboys on Sunday. He's attempting to return from a torn patellar tendon -- no easy task. Remember that Clayton had racked up 22 catches for 300 yards and 2 TDs in the 4 games before going down though. If he's truly back to 100%, he could work his way back into the starting lineup. But for now, he figures to be St. Louis' 5th WR behind Brandon Lloyd, Danario Alexander, Brandon Gibson, and Greg Salas. Clayton is only worth an add in deeper leagues. We wouldn't expect an impact until November at the earliest.

likely headed for PUPRams HC Steve Spagnuolo confirmed Friday that WR Mark Clayton is expected to open the regular season on the PUP list. Clayton is still working back from the knee injury that ended his 2010 early and will be ineligible for the first 6 games. After that, we'll see how things are going with a crowded pass-catching corps.

re-signs with RamsThe Rams have re-signed WR Mark Clayton. This was expected all along, but it took longer than expected because Clayton is struggling to return from last year's torn patellar tendon. All reports indicate that he's still not close to 100%. Throw in a crowded Rams WR corps, and Clayton isn't an option in fantasy drafts.
Update: Clayton has been placed on the active PUP list, meaning he won't start practicing yet. And Rams insider Howard Balzer reports that Clayton may be transferred to the reserve PUP, which would knock him out for the first 6 weeks of the season.

not close to returningRams beat writer Jim Thomas reports that WR Mark Clayton is still "a ways away from being considered healthy enough to play." He's still rehabbing from last year's torn patellar tendon. Clayton remains a good bet to return to St. Louis, but it's looking more and more doubtful that he'll make an early-season impact.

knee still not 100%Rams HC Steve Spagnuolo says WR Mark Clayton's surgically-repaired knee is still "not ready yet." Clayton tore his patellar tendon in Week 5 last year. He was expected to re-sign with the Rams but is still a free-agent. It doesn't look like he'll be making an impact early on this season.

healthy, wants back with the RamsFree-agent WR Mark Clayton says his surgically-repaired knee feels “wonderful” and emphasized his desire to return to St. Louis. "I love playing with [QB] Sam Bradford. The organization is great. Coach 'Spags' (Steve Spagnuolo), I love him. I love his passion. He's a real fiery dude. He's a defensive guy and I play offense. Opposites attract, I guess." Clayton tore up his knee in Week 5 last season, but lit up the league prior to that. He racked up 23 grabs for 306 yards and 2 scores, enough to place him 10th among WRs in fantasy points. Clayton has been running routes with Bradford recently – a good sign that he’s planning on re-signing with the Rams. If he regains his pre-injury form, Clayton could be a sneaky fantasy option. He’s worth keeping a close eye on this summer.

likely to stay in St. LouisThe Rams and pending free-agent WR Mark Clayton have been in "steady dialogue" about a new contract. "He's certainly a candidate to get an extension done before the [March 4th] deadline," Rams VP of football operations Kevin Demoff said. "But if he doesn't, that wouldn't change our opinion on wanting him back." Before tearing his patellar tendon in Week 5, Clayton was St. Louis' top WR, racking up 306 yards and 2 TDs. Ideally, he'd return as the team's #2 WR.

has torn patellar tendonThe official diagnosis on Rams WR Mark Clayton's injured knee is a torn patellar tendon. He's done for the season, and his availability for 2011 training camp is in doubt. Tough break for a guy who had seemed to finally figure it out.

done for seasonRams WR Mark Clayton admitted the knee injury he suffered in today’s game is season ending. It’s an unfortunate event for a guy that was in the process of turning his career around. Brandon Gibson, Laurent Robinson, and Danny Ammendola will pick up snaps in his absence.

suffers knee injuryRams WR Mark Clayton was carted off the field with a knee injury. We’ll update his status when it becomes available.
UPDATE: Clayton has been ruled out for the remainder of today’s game.

will be covered by Nnamdi AsomughaRaiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha is expected to cover Rams WR Mark Clayton today. Interesting that Oakland sees Clayton as a bigger threat than WR Laurent Robinson. Clayton should be on your bench today.

traded to RamsThe Rams have acquired WR Mark Clayton from Baltimore in exchange for a late-round pick. Clayton became expendable when the Ravens signed WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh earlier this morning. In St. Louis, Clayton could have some fantasy impact. He had a good camp with Baltimore and immediately becomes one of the most talented WR on St. Louis' roster. Laurent Robinson is pretty much locked into the #1 WR role, but there's no reason Clayton can't emerge as the #2 and send Danny Amendola back to the slot. Keep an eye on him these first few weeks.
