DFS Showdown Tips: 49ers-Seahawks

By Matt Schauf 4:12pm EST 12/29/19

The final Sunday night game of the regular season gives us a battle for the division and a 1st-round playoff bye. It also gives us a matchup that produced 51 points back in November.

That matchup found 49ers WR Deebo Samuel racking up an 8-112 receiving line in a game Emmanuel Sanders left early with a rib injury.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson rushed 25 times for 89 yards and a TD. He won’t be involved this time around. Nor will Rashaad Penny, the only other Seattle RB to touch the ball in that game.

Three San Francisco RBs carried at least 6 times in that Seattle victory. Raheem Mostert fell 3rd in the pecking order that time around. Now, he’s the committee leader.

Oh, and George Kittle’s around for this meeting. So don’t bet on Ross Dwelley getting another 7 targets.

What can we bet on?

DraftKings

Matt Breida stands out as a salary-relief option … if he gets the ball at all. He didn’t play an offensive snap last week, though, and took the field for just 12 in each of the 2 games before. That makes 24 total snaps in 3 games since his return from a multi-week injury.

Russell Wilson probably belongs in your showdown lineups, especially after 4 straight QBs topped 21 fantasy points against the 49ers. Seven of the past 8 scored 19.9 points or more (by our default -- fairly typical -- scoring system). That low mark came from Wilson, though, and he has produced 14.1 points or fewer in 3 of 5 appearances since.

Jimmy Garoppolo has also checked in short of 15 fantasy points in 3 of his past 4 outings. And he scored only 13.5 points in the first meeting with Seattle, his 4th-lowest score of the year. Seattle has allowed just 19 TD passes on the year (1.3 per contest). Including Garoppolo in the 1st meeting, 4 of the past 6 QBs to face Seattle have tossed just 1 TD pass.

FanDuel

As usual, the 2 QBs flash highly on FanDuel, with the pricing that takes much of the challenge out and increases the role of luck.

Hollister is interesting. The matchup with San Francisco isn’t good. But his 1st meeting included season highs in targets (10) and receptions (8), for 62 yards and the last TD he has scored to this point.
