DFS Showdown Tips: Bills-Chiefs
You’re gonna want to latch on to some low-priced options for tonight’s showdown.
Barring injury to either guy, it’s tough to imagine a big-money lineup for the Chiefs-Bills showdown not including both QBs. Both sit the top 3 in our Week 5 QB rankings. Both have obviously shown us high fantasy ceilings.
Patrick Mahomes gets a much tougher matchup. Buffalo arrives as Football Outsiders’ #1 overall DVOA defense: #1 vs. the pass, #2 vs. the run. The Bills have allowed a league-low 4.0 yards per play.
The Chiefs, on the other hand, have been the league’s worst defense by DVOA through 4 weeks. The biggest question for Josh Allen might be how the Bills score their TDs.
Let’s get to the value charts …
Josh Gordon didn’t make our chart because we didn’t project anything for him this week. Who the heck knows what we can expect? He’s $1,800 on DK … though he’s also bound to be more popular than your average sub-$2K wideout with no targets on the season.
Gordon’s arrival might overshadow Byron Pringle, who has seen 2+ targets in each game -- but more than 2 targets in just a single contest.
Our chart exaggerates the gap between Allen and Mahomes. We have Allen projected for a week-high 314 yards, which adds the 3-point DK bonus to his fantasy-point projection. But our 295-yard projection for Mahomes obviously shows we believe he’s plenty capable of hitting the bonus as well.
Play around with lineup configurations to see which pass-catchers you can fit together around those QBs. Submitting multiple entries might be even more attractive than usual to get exposure to all the key pieces.
Starting your lineup with Mahomes and Allen over here leaves an average of $8,833 per spot for your other 3 choices. Choose among the 3 cheapest players on our FD chart, and you can keep $20,000 around for those final 2 positions. Just like on DK, this will still take some playing around to find your best configuration.
