Monday night’s game got at least a little less interesting when Sam Darnold came down with mono.
Now instead of matching up last year’s top pick vs. the #3 pick, Browns-Jets features Baker Mayfield vs. Trevor Siemian, a name that sounds as boring as he is.
The matchup also will sport some key inactives: Jets ILB C.J. Mosley, Jets DT Quinnen Williams, Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard, Browns S Damarious Randall -- and potentially Browns WR Rashard Higgins. (He’s questionable after a week of limited practices with a knee issue.)
Hilliard’s absence removes the guy who vultured a TD from Chubb in Week 1 and leaves D’Ernest Johnson as the #2 back. We didn’t bother projecting stats for Johnson this week, because he won’t be in use anywhere outside of this format. But he sits at the $200 minimum salary for a DK showdown. Johnson seems likely to touch the ball at least a couple of times and is expected to fill in for Hilliard on returns. That puts him in play for showdown lineups. Let’s see if we need him.
