DFS Showdown Tips: Colts-Saints

Is T.Y. Hilton gonna play?

That’s a big storyline for the Colts’ Monday night trip to New Orleans, but it might not matter a whole lot for showdown purposes.

Last time Hilton tried to return from his calf injury, he spent just 37% of the offensive snaps on the field against the Texans in Week 12. Hilton managed just 3 catches for 18 yards against 1 of the league’s weakest pass defenses.

This time around, Hilton didn’t even spend the week’s final practice day on the field with his team. He called it a scheduled day off rather than a setback. But if the team is scheduling him off days, then that means Hilton’s calf still ain’t all the way right.

A healthy Hilton would obviously carry intriguing upside. But combine the risk with still-sizable salaries, and it’s hard to view him as any more than a contrarian play here.

Let’s check the values ...

DraftKings

It’s pretty easy for Ashton Dulin and Dontrelle Inman to stand out here. We project each for some use, while their salaries befit players who are usually better bets to not see the ball.

Nyheim Hines is worth a look for his $3K salary. He drew 5 targets and caught 4 of them last week. He’ll face a Saints team that hit the week having allowed the 3rd-most RB receptions on the year. And as 10-point underdogs, the Colts look like a good bet to be trailing -- perhaps by a lot.

FanDuel

Wil Lutz hit the week tied with Kansas City’s Harrison Butker for the fantasy-point lead among kickers and coming off 5 straight double-digit outings. On FanDuel, he’s the best bet for points among players with 4-digit salaries. If you want to fit him in a lineup with New Orleans’ big 3, though, you’ll need to find a guy at $6K or less to get under the cap. Ashton Dulin is the only such player we projected for any numbers this week.

If T.Y. Hilton winds up inactive, Dontrelle Inman could be a nice cheap option for salary relief. That scenario would likely find Zach Pascal spending a lot of time with Saints CB Marshon Lattimore outside. Inman, meanwhile, looks like a strong candidate for the slot. According to Pro Football Focus, New Orleans hit Week 15 allowing the 3rd-most fantasy points to that position.

The slot-WR spot for the Colts belonged primarily to Parris Campbell and undrafted rookie Ashton Dulin last week at Tampa Bay.
