Fantasy Takeaways from Week 10 Usage

By Jared Smola 9:25pm EST 11/15/22

Arizona Cardinals

RB snap rates:

James Conner - 96%
Keaontay Ingram - 7%
Eno Benjamin - 1%

Route rates:

James Conner - 55%
Keaontay Ingram - 5%
Eno Benjamin - 2%

DeAndre Hopkins - 98%
Rondale Moore - 95%
A.J. Green - 43%
Robbie Anderson - 17%
Greg Dortch - 2% (injured)

Trey McBride - 81%
Zach Ertz - 21% (injured)
Stephen Anderson - 19%

Takeaways:

  • Conner’s 96% snap rate matched a career high. Arizona surprisingly released Benjamin on Monday, so it looks like Conner will remain a true workhorse going forward.
  • Ertz drew 19% of Cardinals targets in 9 healthy games – although that dipped to 16% in 3 full games with Hopkins. There’s a big opportunity available for McBride, a 2nd-round rookie who topped 1,000 receiving yards at Colorado State last year.

Atlanta Falcons

RB snap rates:

Tyler Allgeier - 48%
Cordarrelle Patterson - 38%
Caleb Huntley - 14%
Avery Williams - 14%

Route rates:

Tyler Allgeier - 36%
Cordarrelle Patterson - 36%
Caleb Huntley - 8%
Avery Williams - 3%

Drake London - 92%
Olamide Zaccheaus - 77%
Damiere Byrd - 51%
Bryan Edwards - 13%
KhaDarel Hodge - 8%

Kyle Pitts - 90%
Parker Hesse - 15%
MyCole Pruitt - 8%

Takeaways:

  • Patterson went from a 39% snap rate and 43% RB carry share in his Week 9 return to a 38% snap rate and 23% RB carry share in this one. It’s possible that Atlanta limited him on the short week, but we should expect Patterson to remain in a committee going forward.
  • Pitts has registered an absurd 31% target share over his last 4 games. Even more absurd: He’s caught just 41% of his targets during that stretch.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens had a Week 10 bye.

Buffalo Bills

RB snap rates:

Devin Singletary - 72%
James Cook - 17%
Nyheim Hines - 8%
Duke Johnson - 7%

Routes rates:

Devin Singletary - 56%
James Cook - 10%
Nyheim Hines - 8%
Duke Johnson - 4%

Stefon Diggs - 98%
Gabriel Davis - 98%
Isaiah McKenzie - 81%
Khalil Shakir - 8%
Jake Kumerow - 6% (injured)

Dawson Knox - 81%
Quintin Morris - 21%

Takeaways:

  • The Bills activated 4 RBs, but Singletary remained the clear lead back. He’s now topped a 70% snap rate in 4 straight and 6 of the last 7 games.
  • Davis drew 21% of Bills targets in this one and has registered a 21% target share over 3 games since the bye week.

Carolina Panthers

RB snap rates:

D’Onta Foreman - 68%
Chuba Hubbard - 18%
Raheem Blackshear - 12%

Route rates:

D’Onta Foreman - 53%
Chuba Hubbard - 26%
Raheem Blackshear - 5%

D.J. Moore - 95%
Terrace Marshall - 95%
Laviska Shenault - 53%
Shi Smith - 32%

Tommy Tremble - 42%
Ian Thomas - 37%
Stephen Sullivan - 16%
Giovanni Ricci - 16%

Takeaways:

  • Despite Hubbard’s return, Foreman remained Carolina’s workhorse, handling 31 of 42 RB carries (74%).
  • Moore had little chance at a strong fantasy day with the Panthers throwing it just 16 times. But his 6 targets were a huge 38% share.

Chicago Bears

RB snap rates:

David Montgomery - 66%
Khalil Herbert - 38% (injured)

Route rates:

David Montgomery - 63%
Khalil Herbert - 19% (injured)

Darnell Mooney - 96%
Equanimeous St. Brown - 56%
Dante Pettis - 48%
Byron Pringle - 41%
Chase Claypool - 30%

Cole Kmet - 78%
Trevon Wesco - 15%
Ryan Griffin - 7%

Takeaways:

  • Claypool sunk from a 40% route rate in his Bears debut to 30% in Week 10.
  • Kmet’s 4 TDs over the past 2 weeks are obviously a bit flukey. But he’s totaled 13 targets for a 27% share during that stretch. The Bears are clearly looking to get him the ball.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals had a Week 10 bye.

Cleveland Browns

RB snap rates:

Nick Chubb - 48%
Kareem Hunt - 36%
D’Ernest Johnson - 18%

Route rates:

Nick Chubb - 30%
Kareem Hunt - 26%
D’Ernest Johnson - 24%

Amari Cooper - 89%
Donovan Peoples-Jones - 89%
David Bell - 54%
Michael Woods - 24%
Anthony Schwartz - 17%

Harrison Bryant - 74%
Pharaoh Brown - 33%

Takeaways:

  • Hunt finished with fewer than 8 opportunities (carries + targets) for the 3rd time in his last 4 games. He also ran fewer routes than Chubb for the 2nd time this season.
  • Peoples-Jones led the Browns with 9 targets (26% share) in this one. He’s averaging 6.7 targets on a 20% share over his last 6 outings.
  • Cooper is averaging 7.0 targets on a 21% share over that same span.
  • Bryant posted a strong 74% route rate and delivered a TD. But he saw just 3 targets (9% share). He remains a very fringy fantasy option for as long as TE David Njoku is out.

Dallas Cowboys

RB snap rates:

Tony Pollard - 87%
Malik Davis - 13%

Route rates:

Tony Pollard - 70%
Malik Davis - 10%

CeeDee Lamb - 96%
Michael Gallup - 88%
Noah Brown - 84%
Jalen Tolbert - 4%
KaVontae Turpin - 4%

Dalton Schultz - 74%
Peyton Hendershot - 18%
Jake Ferguson - 14%
Sean McKeon - 4%

Takeaways:

  • So much for Dallas limiting Pollard to around 30 snaps. He played 72 in the overtime loss to Green Bay.
  • Schultz has averaged 6.7 targets on a 20% share over his last 3 games. He’s looking like a rock-solid TE1 going forward.

Denver Broncos

RB snap rates:

Melvin Gordon - 54%
Latavius Murray - 31%
Chase Edmonds - 19%

Route rates:

Melvin Gordon - 51%
Latavius Murray - 22%
Chase Edmonds - 15%

Courtland Sutton - 96%
Kendall Hinton - 95%
Tyrie Cleveland - 36%
Jalen Virgil - 35%
Montrell Washington - 13%
Jerry Jeudy - 2% (injured)

Greg Dulcich - 82%
Eric Saubert - 16%
Eric Tomlinson - 7%

Takeaways:

  • The Broncos emerged from their bye with Gordon as the leader of a 3-man committee backfield. Opportunities:
    • Gordon - 7 carries, 6 targets
    • Murray - 9 carries, 3 targets
    • Edmonds - 2 carries, 2 targets
  • Hinton was the Jeudy replacement, finishing with 4 catches on 5 targets (12% share) for 62 yards. He’d be a desperation Week 11 fantasy play if Jeudy is out.
  • Dulcich disappointed with a 1-11 line on 4 targets (10% share). But the 82% route rate keeps him squarely in the TE1 mix going forward.

Detroit Lions

RB snap rates:

Jamaal Williams - 40%
D’Andre Swift - 31%
Justin Jackson - 27%

Route rates:

Justin Jackson - 33%
D’Andre Swift - 30%
Jamaal Williams - 12%

Amon-Ra St. Brown - 97%
Kalif Raymond - 91%
Tom Kennedy - 70%
Trinity Benson - 18%

Brock Wright - 39%
Shane Zylstra - 30%
James Mitchell - 18%

Takeaways:

  • Swift’s snap rate climbed from last week’s 16%. But he curiously ran fewer pass routes than Jackson, who matched Swift with 3 targets.

Green Bay Packers

RB snap rates:

Aaron Jones - 70%
A.J. Dillon - 38%

Route rates:

Aaron Jones - 48%
A.J. Dillon - 20%

Allen Lazard - 100%
Christian Watson - 88%
Sammy Watkins - 36%
Samori Toure - 32%

Robert Tonyan - 60%
Marcedes Lewis - 28%
Josiah Deguara - 12%
Tyler Davis - 4%

Takeaways:

  • Jones has played 67+% of Green Bay’s offensive snaps in 3 of the last 4 games. Dillon has been under 43% in 3 of the last 4.
  • Watson’s breakout game came with strong peripherals: an 88% route rate and 40% target share. Buy.

Houston Texans

RB snap rates:

Dameon Pierce - 72%
Rex Burkhead - 25%
Dare Ogunbowale - 6%

Route rates:

Dameon Pierce - 40%
Rex Burkhead - 20%
Dare Ogunbowale - 7%

Nico Collins - 82%
Brandin Cooks - 62%
Chris Moore - 60%
Phillip Dorsett - 49%

Jordan Akins - 53%
O.J. Howard - 22%
Teagan Quitoriano - 9%

Takeaways:

  • Cooks returned to a scaled-back role, posting a season-low 62% route rate. He drew 7 targets for a 19% share.

Indianapolis Colts

RB snap rates:

Jonathan Taylor - 94%
Jordan Wilkins - 5%
Zack Moss - 2%

Route rates:

Jonathan Taylor - 85%
Jordan Wilkins - 0%
Zack Moss - 0%

Michael Pittman - 100%
Parris Campbell - 88%
Alec Pierce - 65%
Ashton Dulin - 26%
Keke Coutee - 3%

Kylen Granson - 53%
Mo Alie-Cox - 50%

Takeaways:

  • Guess we don’t need to worry about Taylor’s ankle going forward. A 94% snap rate and 85% route rate is unheard of nowadays. It’s worth noting that RB Deon Jackson missed this game, but Taylor is clearly set up for workhorse usage the rest of the way.
  • Campbell came back to life with QB Matt Ryan under center, posting a 7-76-1 line on 9 targets (32% share). He’s averaged 10.7 targets, 8.0 catches, 68 yards and 1 TD in his last 3 games with Ryan.

Jacksonville Jaguars

RB snap rates:

Travis Etienne - 78%
JaMycal Hasty - 22%

Route rates:

Travis Etienne - 61%
JaMycal Hasty - 18%

Zay Jones - 96%
Christian Kirk - 94%
Marvin Jones - 71%
Jamal Agnew - 12%
Tim Jones - 6%

Evan Engram - 84%
Chris Manhertz - 16%
Dan Arnold - 12%

Takeaways:

  • Etienne continued to underwhelm in the passing game, drawing just 3 targets for an 8% share. He has a 9% target share over the past 4 weeks.
  • Engram tallied just 4 targets for a 10% share. But his route rate remained strong – and he had a TD called back by an illegal man downfield penalty.

Kansas City Chiefs

RB snap rates:

Isiah Pacheco - 56%
Jerick McKinnon - 38%
Clyde Edwards-Helaire - 6%

Route rates:

Jerick McKinnon - 46%
Isiah Pacheco - 37%
Clyde Edwards-Helaire - 7%

Marquez Valdes-Scantling - 85%
Justin Watson - 73%
Kadarius Toney - 41%
JuJu Smith-Schuster - 39% (injured)
Skyy Moore - 27%

Travis Kelce - 73%
Noah Gray - 32%
Jody Fortson - 10%

Takeaways:

  • This was easily a season high in snap rate for Pacheco, who handled 16 of 17 RB carries. Pacheco wasn’t targeted, but if he continues posting route rates in this 37% range, he won’t be a zero in the passing game.
  • Edwards-Helaire is just a handcuff on fantasy rosters at this point. Completely unstartable.
  • Toney made a big jump from his 9% route rate last week – likely in part because of Mecole Hardman’s absence and Smith-Schuster’s concussion. Toney’s playing time should continue to grow, though. And he’s been targeted on 7 of 25 routes (28%) over the last 2 weeks.

Las Vegas Raiders

RB snap rates:

Josh Jacobs - 79%
Ameer Abdullah - 21%
Zamir White - 3%

Route rates:

Josh Jacobs - 66%
Ameer Abdullah - 34%
Zamir White - 0%

Davante Adams - 98%
Mack Hollins - 98%
Keelan Cole - 84%
D.J. Turner - 2%

Foster Moreau - 93%
Jesper Horsted - 5%

Takeaways:

  • Adams racked up 14 targets for a huge 37% target share in his 1st game of the season without both TE Darren Waller and WR Hunter Renfrow. Those guys will remain out for at least the next 3 games.
  • Moreau has registered elite 95%, 88% and 93% route rates over the last 3 weeks. He’s averaged 6.0 targets on a 16% target share across those games.

Los Angeles Chargers

RB snap rates:

Austin Ekeler - 69%
Isaiah Spiller - 17%
Sony Michel - 14%

Route rates:

Austin Ekeler - 73%
Sony Michel - 11%
Isaiah Spiller - 5%

Josh Palmer - 100%
DeAndre Carter - 98%
Michael Bandy - 86%
Jason Moore - 2%

Tre McKitty - 70%
Gerald Everett - 16% (injured)
Richard Rodgers - 9%

Takeaways:

  • Ekeler is up to 82 targets – which ranks 9th league wide.
  • McKitty stepped in for the injured Everett, drawing 6 targets for a 16% share. He’d be a desperation fantasy shot if Everett misses Week 11.

Los Angeles Rams

RB snap rates:

Darrell Henderson - 57%
Kyren Williams - 26%
Cam Akers - 16%

Route rates:

Darrell Henderson - 54%
Kyren Williams - 24%
Cam Akers - 7%

Ben Skowronek - 98%
Allen Robinson - 90%
Cooper Kupp - 61% (injured)
Van Jefferson - 34%
Lance McCutcheon - 7%
Brandon Powell - 7%

Tyler Higbee - 63%
Brycen Hopkins - 24%

Takeaways:

  • Henderson has led this backfield in snaps and routes in all 3 games since the Week 7 bye. It’s resulted in 118 total yards and 1 TD.
  • 11 of Williams’ 16 snaps were passing plays, so it looks like that’s the role the Rams see him in for now.
  • Kupp leaves behind a whopping 10.9 targets per game (30% share). These other pieces will certainly pick up extra volume for however long Kupp is out, but this Rams offense could be a total disaster.

Miami Dolphins

RB snap rates:

Jeff Wilson - 61%
Raheem Mostert - 28%
Salvon Ahmed - 10%

Route rates:

Jeff Wilson - 53%
Raheem Mostert - 25%
Salvon Ahmed - 0%

Jaylen Waddle - 89%
Tyreek Hill - 83%
Trent Sherfield - 64%
Cedrick Wilson - 22%

Mike Gesicki - 58%
Durham Smythe - 19%

Takeaways:

  • After a near 50/50 split in his Dolphins debut, Wilson took control of the backfield in this one. He out-carried Mostert 17 to 8 and out-targeted him 5 to 4.
  • This was easily a season-low snap rate for Mostert, who had played 42+% of Miami’s offensive snaps in each of the first 9 games.

Minnesota Vikings

RB snap rates:

Dalvin Cook - 84%
Alexander Mattison - 16%

Route rates:

Dalvin Cook - 73%
Alexander Mattison - 10%

Justin Jefferson - 100%
Adam Thielen - 97%
K.J. Osborn - 90%

T.J. Hockenson - 87%
Johnny Mundt - 83%

Takeaways:

  • Hockenson followed an 84% route rate and 22% target share in his Vikings debut with an 87% route rate and 20% target share in this one. He’s a good bet for top-5 TE production the rest of the way if this level of usage keeps up.

New England Patriots

The Patriots had a Week 10 bye.

New Orleans Saints

RB snap rates:

Alvin Kamara - 78%
Dwayne Washington - 9%
Jordan Howard - 6%

Route rates:

Alvin Kamara - 76%
Dwayne Washington - 6%
Jordan Howard - 6%

Chris Olave - 88%
Jarvis Landry - 82%
Kevin White - 67%
Rashid Shaheed - 15%
Tre’Quan Smith - 3%

Juwan Johnson - 67%
Taysom Hill - 39%
Adam Trautman - 27%

Takeaways:

  • The Saints ran just 45 offensive plays in this one, muting everyone’s fantasy production.
  • Landry returned to a significant role, posting an 82% route rate and 21% target share (6 targets).
  • Olave seemingly felt the impact of Landry’s return, drawing just 5 targets for an 18% share.
  • Johnson matched a season high with 7 targets. He’s averaging 4.8 targets on a 14% share over his last 5 games.
  • Hill is running more routes lately. He ran a season-high 13 in this one and has hit double digits in 4 straight. He didn’t top 8 routes in any of his first 5 games.

New York Giants

RB snap rates:

Saquon Barkley - 80%
Matt Breida - 20%

Route rates:

Saquon Barkley - 54%
Matt Breida - 21%

Wan’Dale Robinson - 83%
Darius Slayton - 75%
Isaiah Hodgins - 63%
Kenny Golladay - 54%
Marcus Johnson - 8%

Tanner Hudson - 38%
Lawrence Cager - 33%
Chris Myarick - 8%

Takeaways:

  • Robinson has topped an 80% route rate in 2 straight but been targeted on just 9% of those routes. By comparison, he was targeted on 26% of his routes over the previous 2 games. That target-per-route rate will settle in between those 2 marks going forward.

New York Jets

The Jets had a Week 10 bye.

Philadelphia Eagles

RB snap rates:

Miles Sanders- 58%
Kenneth Gainwell - 32%
Boston Scott - 10%

Route rates:

Miles Sanders- 52%
Kenneth Gainwell - 38%
Boston Scott - 3%

DeVonta Smith - 83%
A.J. Brown - 72%
Quez Watkins - 62%
Zach Pascal - 41%

Dallas Goedert - 100% (injured)
Jack Stoll - 17%
Grant Calcaterra - 14%

Takeaways:

  • Goedert has drawn 20% of Eagles targets and leads both Brown and Smith in yards per target (10.3). He’s a huge loss for Philadelphia and fantasy owners.
  • Stoll is 2nd among Eagles TEs in routes (81) and targets (7) through 9 games. But Calcaterra is the more intriguing pass-catching prospect. We’ll see how the position shakes out in Week 11, but neither guy is likely to be a reliable fantasy play.

Pittsburgh Steelers

RB snap rates:

Najee Harris - 60%
Jaylen Warren - 43%

Route rates:

Najee Harris - 40%
Jaylen Warren - 31%

Diontae Johnson - 96%
George Pickens - 96%
Steven Sims - 33%
Gunner Olszewski - 29%
Miles Boykin - 7%

Pat Freiermuth - 89%
Zach Gentry - 29%
Connor Heyward - 11%

Takeaways:

  • This was Harris’ 2nd lowest snap rate of the season – behind only Week 1, when he was injured, and Week 5, a blowout loss to Buffalo.
  • It was Warren’s 2nd highest snap rate of the season.
  • Target shares in Pittsburgh’s 1st game without WR Chase Claypool:
    • Freiermuth - 23%
    • Johnson - 17%
    • Pickens - 13%
  • Freiermuth is now averaging 7.6 targets on a 22% share in 7 healthy games this season.

San Francisco 49ers

RB snap rates:

Christian McCaffrey - 65%
Elijah Mitchell - 35%

Route rates:

Christian McCaffrey - 73%
Elijah Mitchell - 20%

Brandon Aiyuk - 100%
Deebo Samuel - 87%
Jauan Jennings - 60%
Ray-Ray McCloud - 13%

George Kittle - 93%
Tyler Kroft - 10%
Charlie Woerner - 3%

Takeaways:

  • This was certainly more than I expected Mitchell to play, but McCaffrey remained in a very fantasy friendly role, tallying 14 carries and 6 targets (21% share). By comparison, Austin Ekeler has posted a 63% snap rate and 59% route rate this season.
  • Targets in their last 5 games together:
    • Samuel - 39
    • Aiyuk - 37
    • Kittle - 31

Seattle Seahawks

RB snap rates:

Ken Walker - 87%
Travis Homer - 15%

Route rates:

Ken Walker - 74%
Travis Homer - 14%

D.K. Metcalf - 90%
Tyler Lockett - 90%
Marquise Goodwin - 81%
Dareke Young - 10%
Penny Hart - 7%

Noah Fant - 50%
Will Dissly - 36%
Colby Parkinson - 21%

Takeaways:

  • Walker didn’t post a huge fantasy line, but it was an extremely encouraging outing in negative game script. He set season highs in snap rate, route rate and targets (8). The rookie is officially game-script proof.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

RB snap rates:

Rachaad White - 64%
Leonard Fournette - 29% (injured)
Ke’Shawn Vaughn - 7%

Route rates:

Rachaad White - 52%
Leonard Fournette - 26% (injured)
Ke’Shawn Vaughn - 10%

Chris Godwin - 90%
Mike Evans - 87%
Julio Jones - 74%
Breshad Perriman - 26%
Scotty Miller - 16%

Cameron Brate - 52%
Cade Otton - 32%

Takeaways:

  • White started over Fournette in this one. When Fournette left with his hip injury, he’d tallied 14 carries and 1 target to White’s 11 carries and 0 targets.
  • Brate returned as Tampa’s lead TE. Neither he nor Otton is a reliable fantasy play going forward.

Tennessee Titans

RB snap rates:

Derrick Henry - 58%
Dontrell Hilliard - 42%
Hassan Haskins - 3%

Route rates:

Dontrell Hilliard - 48%
Derrick Henry - 35%
Hassan Haskins - 3%

Robert Woods - 95%
Treylon Burks - 75%
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine - 75%
Cody Hollister - 13%

Austin Hooper - 68%
Chigo Okonkwo - 23%
Geoff Swaim - 15%
Kevin Rader - 8%

Takeaways:

  • Henry has posted 2 of his 3 lowest snap rates of the season over the last 2 weeks. He’s averaged 18.0 carries across those 2 games vs. 23.7 over the first 7.
  • Burks returned to a solid 75% route rate and 17% target share. Encouraging, but I’m not sure there’s enough passing volume in Tennessee to make the rookie a reliable fantasy play.
  • Don’t chase Westbrook-Ikhine’s big Week 10. He didn’t top 4 targets in any of Tennessee’s first 8 games.

Washington Commanders

RB snap rates:

Brian Robinson - 52%
Antonio Gibson - 48%

Route rates:

Antonio Gibson - 54%
Brian Robinson - 29%

Terry McLaurin - 97%
Curtis Samuel - 77%
Jahan Dotson - 49%
Dyami Brown - 29%
Cam Sims - 20%

Logan Thomas - 77%
John Bates - 11%
Armani Rogers - 11%

Takeaways:

  • A massive 38% target share for McLaurin, who’s now averaging 9.0 targets on a 30% share over the past 4 weeks with QB Taylor Heinicke.
  • Dotson’s role should grow from here, but he can’t be trusted in Week 11 fantasy lineups.
  • Thomas didn’t do much in the box score in a game when Washington threw just 29 times, but a 77% route rate and 14% target share at least has him back on the fantasy radar.
