Late-August ADP Risers and Fallers

By Jared Smola 8:08am EDT 8/30/17

With another big draft weekend coming up, let’s take 1 more look at the ADP landscape.

All ADP data is taken from drafts on and examined using our ADP Explorer Tool.

DeShone Kizer, QB, Browns

Mid-August ADP: 231

Late-August ADP: 210

Kizer was officially named Cleveland’s starter on Sunday. The rookie figures to be volatile but will present weekly upside with his big arm and rushing ability.

Trevor Siemian, QB, Broncos

Mid-August ADP: 236

Late-August ADP: 225

Siemian was selected in only about one-third of mid-August drafts. He’s being picked in about half of drafts over the past few days. He holds value as a QB3 in 2-QB and best-ball drafts.

Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings

Mid-August ADP: 37

Late-August ADP: 32

Cook’s summer-long rise has continued over the 2nd half of August, moving him all the way into the middle of Round 3. He’s RB14 in ADP now and is threatening to move past fellow rookies Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette. Cook sits 18th in our PPR RB rankings.

Kareem Hunt, RB, Chiefs

Mid-August ADP: 97

Late-August ADP: 48

Wondering where you’ll need to pull the trigger on Hunt? In 118 drafts since RB Spencer Ware’s knee injury, Hunt has gone 48th overall — or the last pick in the 4th round of 12-team drafts. There’s still value to squeeze out there. Hunt is RB21 in ADP but RB17 in our PPR rankings.

Doug Martin, RB, Bucs

Mid-August ADP: 82

Late-August ADP: 69

Martin has looked excellent this preseason — and folks have taken notice. His price tag has climbed into the late 6th round as the 28th RB off the board. That’s still 6 spots lower than he sits in our rankings.

Darren McFadden, RB, Cowboys

Mid-August ADP: 115

Late-August ADP: 99

McFadden jumped into the mid-10th round immediately after Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension was announced. Now he’s climbed into early 9th. The RBs directly in front of and behind him in ADP: Frank Gore, Terrance West, Rob Kelley and Eddie Lacy.

Rex Burkhead, RB, Patriots

Mid-August ADP: 165

Late-August ADP: 139

Burkhead’s ADP has unsurprisingly climbed after a buzzy August. But he’s still well worth a shot at his current 12th-round and RB49 ADP.

Dion Lewis, RB, Patriots

Mid-August ADP: 196

Late-August ADP: 182

Basically every Patriot has seen their ADP rise since Julian Edelman’s injury, including Lewis. He’s climbed over a round but is still plenty cheap at his 16th-round price tag. Lewis has been busy this preseason, carrying 18 times and catching 5 balls.

Wendell Smallwood, RB, Eagles

Mid-August ADP: 238

Late-August ADP: 187

Smallwood has made a massive jump from basically undrafted to 16th-rounder. He out-snapped LeGarrette Blount 11 to 8 with the 1st-team offense in the 3rd preseason game. Darren Sproles will make this a 3-headed committee to start the season, but Smallwood is an intriguing shot to take in best-ball leagues.

Chris Carson, RB, Seahawks

Mid-August ADP: 241

Late-August ADP: 209

Carson was picked in only 4 of nearly 200 drafts between August 14 and 16. Now he’s being picked in virtually all of them — although his ADP still sits in the 18th round. The rookie has looked like Seattle’s best RB this preseason and is a great late-round flier.

DeVante Parker, WR, Dolphins

Mid-August ADP: 76

Late-August ADP: 61

Parker seems to have a budding bromance with QB Jay Cutler. Cutler targeted Parker 4 times in only 2 drives in his 1st preseason action. And in last week’s 3rd exhibition, the duo hooked up for a huge 72-yard gain. Cutler’s arrival has seemingly boosted Parker’s breakout chances. But you’ll now need to spend a 6th-round pick to land him.

Chris Hogan, WR, Patriots

Mid-August ADP: 217

Late-August ADP: 106

Anyone who took Hogan as a late-round flier prior to this past Friday is sittin’ pretty now. Julian Edelman’s season-ending injury leaves him as the likely #2 WR in 1 of the top passing attacks in the league. He’s still a nice pick at his new WR46 ADP.

Zay Jones, WR, Bills

Mid-August ADP: 142

Late-August ADP: 125

The rookie has seen a boatload of targets open up with the departures of Sammy Watkins and Anquan Boldin. Jones is now WR52 in ADP — 2 spots higher than he sits in our rankings.

Robby Anderson, WR, Jets

Mid-August ADP: 146

Late-August ADP: 140

The Jets’ presumed #1 WR has climbed a tad but remains a fine value at his WR56 ADP. Josh McCown at least gives Anderson a veteran presence at QB.

Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams

Mid-August ADP: 193

Late-August ADP: 148

The rookie has zoomed by teammate Robert Woods in ADP. Kupp was targeted on 7 of QB Jared Goff’s 20 pass attempts in the 2nd preseason game.

Torrey Smith, WR, Eagles

Mid-August ADP: 217

Late-August ADP: 198

Here’s what a 50-yard TD in preseason will do to a guy’s price tag. Smith is still a nice late-round target in best-ball leagues.

Danny Amendola, WR, Patriots

Mid-August ADP: 241

Late-August ADP: 207

Amendola was picked in exactly 1 draft between August 14 and 16. That dude knew what he was doing. Amendola is now being selected in virtually every draft — although his ADP is still sitting in the 18th round.

Charles Clay, TE, Bills

Mid-August ADP: 197

Late-August ADP: 188

Folks are starting to wake up to Clay, but he’s still a big value at his current TE24 ADP. He’s ranked 16th and 17th, respectively, the past 2 seasons. And he’s a good bet for more volume in 2017 considering Buffalo’s shaky WR corps.

Andrew Luck, QB, Colts

Mid-August ADP: 80

Late-August ADP: 91

Luck has dropped 11 spots over the past 2 weeks. He's now QB7 in ADP -- but just 7 picks ahead of QB11.

Tyrod Taylor, QB, Bills

Mid-August ADP: 135

Late-August ADP: 148

It’s been a brutal August for Taylor. He lost Sammy Watkins, Anquan Boldin — and then suffered a concussion in the 3rd preseason game. We’ll see if he can get cleared in time for Week 1, but he’s just a low-end QB2 at this point.

Blake Bortles, QB, Jaguars

Mid-August ADP: 153

Late-August ADP: 211

Bortles seemingly lost the starting job, then regained it over the past couple of weeks. He figures to be at risk of an in-game benching throughout the season. But he’s worth rostering in best-ball leagues. Don’t forget that Bortles has finished as a top 10 QB both of the last 2 years.

Eddie Lacy, RB, Seahawks

Mid-August ADP: 91

Late-August ADP: 104

Lacy has mustered just 3.6 yards per carry on 14 preseason totes. Chris Carson has looked like Seattle’s best RB. This backfield might use as many as 4 guys on opening day.

LeGarrette Blount, RB, Eagles

Mid-August ADP: 89

Late-August ADP: 108

Blount was out-snapped 11 to 8 by Wendell Smallwood in Philly’s 3rd preseason game. That followed rumors that he could be a cut candidate. We’re expecting Blount to stick, but it’s clear he won’t be the early-down workhorse some thought he’d be.

Jamaal Charles, RB, Broncos

Mid-August ADP: 157

Late-August ADP: 173

This move came before Denver’s 3rd preseason game. Charles flashed in that one, so we’re curious to see where his price goes now. He’s worth a shot in the double-digit rounds of drafts.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts

Mid-August ADP: 18

Late-August ADP: 24

Hilton has sunk from a mid-2nd to late-2nd rounder just over the last 2 weeks. Folks are finally starting to factor in the possibility of QB Andrew Luck missing multiple games. Hilton’s current WR13 ADP is a spot lower than he sits in our rankings, but he’s still not a guy we’d recommend aggressively pursuing.

Allen Robinson, WR, Jaguars

Mid-August ADP: 34

Late-August ADP: 44

Like Hilton, Robinson has QB issues. He’s now going 21st among WRs, which is exactly where we have him ranked.

Sammy Watkins, WR, Rams

Mid-August ADP: 43

Late-August ADP: 53

Watkins’ ADP sunk almost immediately from the mid-3rd to mid-4th after his trade to Los Angeles. It’s continued to fall in the couple of weeks since. Watkins is now a mid-5th rounder as the 26th WR off the board.

Donte Moncrief, WR, Colts

Mid-August ADP: 77

Late-August ADP: 86

Moncrief continues to feel the affects of QB Andrew Luck’s absence. He’s dropped 9 spots over the past couple of weeks and 20 spots over the past month.

John Brown, WR, Cardinals

Mid-August ADP: 100

Late-August ADP: 113

There was a pocket of value on Brown over the past couple of weeks. That might disappear now, though, after he scored twice in Arizona’s 3rd preseason game.

Breshad Perriman, WR, Ravens

Mid-August ADP: 174

Late-August ADP: 210

Perriman has missed all of August with a hamstring injury. He’s not worth drafting in standard lineup-setting leagues and certainly isn’t a priority late-round target in best ball.

Robert Woods, WR, Rams

Mid-August ADP: 187

Late-August ADP: 226

Over the past month, Woods has gone from the Rams’ likely target leader to possibly 3rd in the pecking order behind Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp. He’s an unexciting fantasy pick, even at his depressed price tag.
