You should go into every fantasy draft with a general plan of attack.
Of course, you’ll need to be able to adjust throughout the draft and pounce on value wherever it presents itself. That’s where the dynamic MVP Board with Suggested Picks comes in.
But building a round-by-round strategy beforehand certainly helps. That’s exactly what we’re doing with the Perfect Draft series — using the MVP Board and ADP to get an idea of where the value will be in each round.
This is the 14-Team Non-PPR Perfect Draft. Each strategy guide assumes 16-round drafts and starting lineups of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K and 1 DEF. The MVP Board will help you adjust your strategy if your league settings are different.
Note: August 29 updates in bold.
RB: Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffrey
Elliott — who’s reportedly “likely” to end his holdout before Week 1 — still sits #2 in our non-PPR rankings. If you want to play it safer, though, feel free to pass on Zeke for another stud back in Kamara or McCaffrey.
Zeke still sits 2nd in our rankings as of August 29. But he'll move down if he doesn't show by September 2, the Monday before the season opener.
RB: Devonta Freeman, Kerryon Johnson, Aaron Jones
WR: Mike Evans
TE: Travis Kelce
The MVP Board will likely recommend taking another RB in Round 2.
You might need to decide if you’re willing to gamble on Gordon here. There’s a real chance his holdout runs into the regular season — although we still think he’s much more likely than not to be on the field come Week 1.
Johnson and Jones are safer picks.
Melvin Gordon is no longer an option this early. Freeman has moved ahead of Johnson and Jones in our rankings.
