There's no such thing as "too early" fantasy football content anymore.
We're drafting best-ball rosters for the next season around the Super Bowl, and then throughout late winter and early spring. You can find ADP numbers as early as February. And Bill O'Brien is already hard at work downgrading his roster and killing his salary cap for 2021 and beyond.
We thought the March-April turn would be a good time to gather some folks for a 2020 mock draft. Rather than invite some of our fantasy-industry friends, though, we sought from fresh perspective from other players.
This draft went 15 rounds, with a common PPR format and these lineup settings: QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE, 1 Flex.
1.01 Chris Freelund: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers
"With a better QB in Teddy I think he will still be the RB1 this year even with some regression."
1.02 Schauf: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Cowboys
"Several backs look similar to me behind McCaffrey. I'll take the reliable guy in the best offense among those."
1.03 Steven Perkins: Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants
"Jason Garrett fed Ezekiel Elliot over 300 carries and 60+Targets, on average, the last couple years. Now that Garrett is in charge of the Giants offense, I expect Barkley to have a VERY big year, if he can stay healthy. Note: Barkley had 261 carries in his rookie year, when he ran for over 1300 yards on the ground."
1.04 Jared Jiggetts: Michael Thomas, WR, Saints
1.05 Clifford Buck: Josh Jacobs, RB, Raiders
"The Raiders continue to improve under Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, which should lead to more opportunities for their star RB, in the run and pass game. With more touches, a positive regression in touchdowns would be inevitable. While this pick may seem like a reach, Jacobs was already one of the most efficient ball carriers in the league as a rookie."
1.09 Robert Tuning: Tyreek Hill, WR, Chiefs
"My WR2. As good a situation a player can have going into his prime."
1.12 Nate Wegman: Aaron Jones, RB, Packers
"I like his spot in the offense and the RB's that come next have some question marks for me."
2.01 Wegman: Julio Jones, WR, Falcons
"Didnt want to go Packer Packer so Jones it is. I know what Im getting with him even though his end is getting closer."
2.02 Leonard: Davante Adams, WR, Packers
"I think Davante Adams gets back to 2018 form. Only 27 and is one of the best red zone threats in NFL."
2.03 Krautwurst: Chris Godwin, WR, Buccaneers
2.04 Tuning: Nick Chubb, RB, Browns
"Mildly surprised he was still here. Even with Hunt, he will still be a top 10 RB."
2.05 Serrano: Austin Ekeler, RB, Chargers
2.06 Smola: Leonard Fournette, RB, Jaguars
2.07 Ripper: Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs
2.08 Buck: Kenyan Drake, RB, Cardinals
2.09 Jiggetts: Miles Sanders, RB, Eagles
2.10 Perkins: Allen Robinson, WR, Bears
"Tempting to take an elite TE, in Kittle, here...but, I’ve got a long list of TE sleepers who I want leading my squad. Going with Robinson, who had the 2nd most targets in the NFL, in 2019 with 153, or nearly 10 targets/game. In PPR leagues it’s all about volume, and Robinson is a steal at 2.10/22nd overall."
2.11 Schauf: Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers
"Really surprised I didn't get Allen Robinson here, but he and Evans both reside in what will probably be a fairly tightly packed range of WRs here when I finish my projections."
2.12 Freelund: George Kittle, TE, 49ers
"Usually don't go TE this high, but suprised Kittle is on the board. Gives an advantage on that position most games."
3.01 Freelund: Cooper Kupp, WR, Rams
"Not in love with anyone here. Kupp looked good coming off injury last year and with the Rams looking to dump Cooks, it will open up more targets."
3.02 Schauf: Jonathan Taylor, RB, ???
3.03 Perkins: Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens
"Don't draft a QB high. Don't draft a QB high. DON'T draft a QB high...I'm breaking one of the first rules of PPR drafts, as I'm getting Lamar Jackson in the 3rd round. I have Cooper and OBJ circled on my list, but WRs are deep and there's only a handful of players who can win you games, singlehandedly...and Lamar and his 7 games of 30+pts, is one of those players. Lamar is due some regression, but the Ravens have the #1 easiest SOS this season, and even at 700-800 yards rushing, and a reduction of passing TDs, Jackson is a top 12-15 player, overall."
3.04 Jiggetts: Devin Singletary, RB, Bills
"Not crazy about him but need to bolster RB with the WR in first round."
3.05 Buck: D.J. Moore, WR, Panthers
"DJ Moore really broke out last year with 1175 yards on 135 targets, all with Kyle Allen being his QB most games. Teddy Bridgewater has to be at least a slight upgrade. Moore will only be 23 years old this upcoming season, so with continued improvement and hopefully more than 4 TDs he could become a solid WR1."
3.06 Ripper: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs
3.07 Smola: Amari Cooper, WR, Cowboys
3.08 Serrano: Odell Beckham, WR, Browns
"Can’t beat this value for WR."
3.09 Tuning: Kenny Golladay, WR, Lions
"Wonder how good he will be with an actual QB throwing him the ball this year?"
3.10 Krautwurst: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Steelers
"Juju is easily a top 8 WR with a healthy NFL caliber QB."
3.11 Leonard: Mark Ingram, RB, Ravens
"I love 1200 total yards and 10 TDs at my RB2 spot."
3.12 Wegman: Adam Thielen, WR, Vikings
4.01 Wegman: Courtland Sutton, WR, Broncos
4.02 Leonard: DK Metcalf, WR, Seahawks
"Love what I saw last season and it’s only going to get better. Reach? Not in my opinion."
4.03 Krautwurst: Mark Andrews, TE, Ravens
"I'll take the MVPs #1 receiver. No value at WR here and I hate Lev Bell. Gurley knee scares me too. I'll take an elite TE."
4.04 Tuning: Zach Ertz, TE, Eagles
"Ertz is great value here in the early 4th for me. He is not done yet."
4.05 Serrano: A.J. Brown, WR, Titans
"Struggled with this a bit as far as value... so much uncertainty with the WR at this point but one thing is certain... Tannehill has a bromance with aj brown."
4.06 Smola: Todd Gurley, RB, Falcons
4.07 Ripper: Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers
4.08 Buck: Stefon Diggs, WR, Bills
"The Bills WR1 last year, John Brown, was one of the most consistent fantasy players with only two games in single digits. Diggs is the superior talent compared to Brown and will immediately take over that WR1 position. Add in another year of development from Josh Allen and Diggs should be primed for a career year."
4.09 Jiggetts: Melvin Gordon, RB, Broncos
"Should command lion share of work in this backfield, at least 60/40. Pickings are getting slim loll."
4.10 Perkins: Robert Woods, WR, Rams
"Top tier RBs are drying up, so this pick SHOULD be spent on David Johnson or Chris Carson, to balance my roster, but I'm not bullish on those guys (DJ is a hard, hard pass). Instead, I'm looking at three WRs who I think can make a difference: Woods, Lockett, and Chark. Woods' high targets #s (139 in 2019), and better game-to-game consistency, make him my pick. He was a top 15 PPR WR, in 2019, despite only having 2 TDs, and it's really hard to imagine him ending up with only 2 TDs again if he gets 130+targets for a third-year in-a-row."
4.11 Schauf: David Johnson, RB, Texans
"Man, there's a lot still left at both RB and WR here. Even I considered Bell here, Smola."
4.12 Freelund: Tyler Lockett, WR, Seahawks
"As a Hawks fan, I think they might throw it more this year. With Lockett fully healthy I expect he will have a very good year."
5.01 Freelund: David Montgomery, RB, Bears
"Hoping the Bears coaches realize how good he can be."
5.02 Schauf: T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
5.03 Perkins: De'Andre Swift, RB, ???
"It’s spring, and the PPR ADP (pre-draft) for the #2 rookie RB should be around 90-100. If you fast forward to June or July, and if that rookie RB has a good landing spot, they’ll be around 60 ADP and climbing to where they’ll settle in Sept, at a 40ish adp. As a “spring” draft pick, this is bad value...as a crystal ball pick/drafting a team in April, this is dead-on."
5.04 Jiggetts: Darren Waller, TE, Raiders
5.05 Buck: Le'Veon Bell, RB, Jets
5.06 Ripper: Marlon Mack, RB, Colts
5.07 Smola: Calvin Ridley, WR, Falcons
5.08 Serrano: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, ???
"For roster construction purposes with needing a running back it was time to break my rookie RB seal... this kid just screams PPR gold."
5.09 Tuning: DeVante Parker, WR, Dolphins
5.10 Krautwurst: J.K. Dobbins, RB, ???
"With the right location. He will be taken a few rounds earlier."
5.11 Leonard: D.J. Chark, WR, Jaguars
"As a 3rd year WR, he will build on his breakout 2019 campaign."
5.12 Wegman: Chris Carson, RB, Seahawks
"Hoping the hip and the draft are nice to him..."
6.01 Wegman: Michael Gallup, WR, Cowboys
6.02 Leonard: Damien Williams, RB, Chiefs
6.03 Krautwurst: Tyler Boyd, WR, Bengals
"Tough call between Connor and Boyd. But Boyd is my guyyyy. Also the need to start 3 wrs pushes the call to WR."
6.04 Tuning: James Conner, RB, Steelers
6.05 Serrano: Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks
6.06 Smola: Will Fuller, WR, Texans
6.07 Ripper: Deebo Samuel, WR, 49ers
6.08 Buck: Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington
"McLaurin had an up and down rookie season, but was arguably the most productive rookie WR considering he missed 2 games. He finished the season really strong as well, with three straight games of 15 plus fantasy points. If Dwayne Haskins can build on his strong finish to the season, McLaurin could become a pro-bowler."
6.09 Jiggetts: Kerryon Johnson, RB, Lions
6.10 Perkins: Jarvis Landry, WR, Browns
"REALLY wanted Fuller here, since he’s gone, jump ball goes to Landry, AJ Green, or Evan Engram—all 3 are coming back from injuries... going Landry as I don’t trust Engram and I want to see how that Giants offense looks, other than feeding Barkley 300 carries."
6.11 Schauf: A.J. Green, WR, Bengals
6.12 Freelund: Derrius Guice, RB, Washington
"If he can stay healthy he's an RB1. BIG if."
7.01 Freelund: Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Saints
"Brees is going to love this guy and his route running. Still alot in the tank."
7.02 Schauf: Evan Engram, TE, Giants
7.03 Perkins: Noah Fant, TE, Broncos
"With Pat Shurmur now the OC in Denver, I’m thinking he makes Fant one of the main focuses of the Broncos offense, just as he did with Engram on the Giants. TEs seem to take their biggest leaps, in Year 2 (on average), so I’m expecting big things from Fant."
7.04 Jiggetts: Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons
7.05 Buck: Kyler Murray, QB, Cardinals
"Torn between Murray and Josh Allen, I'll give the slight edge to Murray for now with Hopkins there."
7.06 Ripper: Jordan Howard, RB, Dolphins
7.07 Smola: Jared Cook, TE, Saints
7.08 Serrano: Tyler Higbee, TE, Rams
7.09 Tuning: Darrell Henderson, RB, Rams
7.10 Krautwurst: Christian Kirk, WR, Cardinals
7.11 Leonard: Kareem Hunt, RB, Browns
7.12 Wegman: Malcolm Brown, RB, Rams
8.01 Wegman: Austin Hooper, TE, Browns
8.02 Leonard: Hunter Henry, TE, Chargers
8.03 Krautwurst: CeeDee Lamb, WR, ???
8.04 Tuning: Cam Akers, RB, ???
8.05 Serrano: Jerry Jeudy, WR, ???
8.06 Smola: Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys
8.07 Ripper: Raheem Mostert, RB, 49ers
8.08 Buck: Marquise Brown, WR, Ravens
"With Henry, Hooper, and Higbee off the board I’ll wait a little while on TE and take a WR with a ton of upside. Brown spent all last offseason rehabbing from foot surgery, so he didn’t get to develop as much chemistry with his QB as a rookie should. Now he has a full offseason with the MVP while also getting stronger and refining his route running."
8.09 Jiggetts: Darius Slayton, WR, Giants
8.10 Perkins: Dallas Goedert, TE, Eagles
"I really waffled on this pick—In the end, the continual lack of receiving options in PHI makes me think that Goedert will continue to be a key weapon, for that offense. FYI—Goedert had more PPR points than OBJ, in 2019."
8.11 Schauf: Deshaun Watson, QB, Texans
8.12 Freelund: Josh Allen, QB, Bills
"With Diggs opening things up, I can see a better year coming."
9.01 Freelund: Ronald Jones, RB, Buccaneers
"Brady loves checking down to his RB's. Tampa may draft someone to beat out Jones but taking him as my RB4 here is worth it."
9.02 Schauf: James White, RB, Patriots
"Let’s see: downgrade at QB; skill-position talent sucks ... 100 catches for White?"
9.03 Perkins: Diontae Johnson, WR, Steelers
"I’m buying into the hype. I’m passing on guys like Cooks, Edelman, and John Brown for a player I think can make a huge jump, this season, with Big Ben back in the saddle for the Steelers."
9.04 Jiggetts: Robby Anderson, WR, Panthers
9.05 Buck: Sony Michel, RB, Patriots
"I expect the Pats to rely on their defense and their run game to win them games this season. Michel should play a big part in one of those things, assuming they don’t draft a running back for the third year in a row."
9.06 Ripper: Jamison Crowder, WR, Jets
9.07 Smola: Brandin Cooks, WR, Rams (now Texans)
9.08 Serrano: Phillip Lindsay, RB, Broncos
9.09 Tuning: Mike Williams, WR, Chargers
9.10 Krautwurst: Tarik Cohen, RB, Bears
9.11 Leonard: Julian Edelman, WR, Patriots
"Still an elite route runner. No matter who QB is, JE will get open and they’ll get him the ball."
9.12 Wegman: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers
10.01 Wegman: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers
10.02 Leonard: Baker Mayfield, QB, Browns
"Love getting him on the cheap this year. The offense is loaded with weapons and new HC Kevin Stefanski should be able to improve the offensive attack. Baker bounces back and delivers 30plus combined TDs in 2020."
10.03 Krautwurst: Tom Brady, QB, Patriots
"Guy will throw for 30 TDs and be a top 8 QB."
10.04 Tuning: Carson Wentz, QB, Eagles
10.05 Serrano: O.J. Howard, TE, Buccaneers
10.06 Smola: Marvin Jones, WR, Lions
10.07 Ripper: Tyrell Williams, WR, Raiders
10.08 Buck: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Lions
"If you compare two former Iowa tight ends rookie seasons, they look eerily similar. Hockenson averaged 30.6 yards per game and scored 2 touchdowns, while George Kittle averaged 34.3 yards per game and scored 2 touchdowns. I’m not trying to say Hockenson is the next Kittle, but if he can come close to Kittle’s second year leap (1,387 yards 6 TDs) than he could become an above average fantasy tight end."
10.09 Jiggetts: Jonnu Smith, TE, Titans
10.10 Perkins: A.J. Dillon, RB, ???
"After seeing the depth of QB talent going in this round (and still available, as well), I have a bit of buyer's remorse on Lamar Jackson. I still love my Lamar pick, in RD 3, but it put me in a hole on quality RBs on my roster. So, I'm picking A.J. Dillon, as I think he has all the tools (Speed, Power, Elusiveness, Good Receiver, etc) to be one of the best RBs, of this rookie class, and could have a pretty good rookie season. Landing spot will be an important component, and he'll probably start the season as a backup, but he's got a higher upside than the other "handcuffs" that are currently available to me."
10.11 Schauf: Sterling Shepard, WR, Giants
10.12 Freelund: Kenny Stills, WR, Texans
11.01 Freelund: Anthony Miller, WR, Bears
11.02 Schauf: Sammy Watkins, WR, Chiefs
11.03 Perkins: Henry Ruggs, WR, ???
"Speed kills in the NFL and Ruggs can be Tyreek Hill 2.0, if he puts in the work. Lots of speculation that the Broncos, Jets, or Dolphins might draft him... any of those spots gets him a probable #2 WR role and the targets that come with it."
11.04 Jiggetts: Breshad Perriman, WR, Jets
11.05 Buck: Chase Edmonds, RB, Cardinals
"Ruggs was going to be my pick, such a steal in the 11th compared to Lamb and Jeudy. I guess I'll make sure to lock up one of the most important handcuffs this season. Drake was good last year with Arizona but I don't fully trust him quite yet."
11.06 Ripper: N'Keal Harry, WR, Patriots
11.07 Smola: Latavius Murray, RB, Saints
11.08 Serrano: Adrian Peterson, RB, Washington
"Hard to bet against the old man considering guice can’t stay healthy... at this point it’s all eh and hail mary."
11.09 Tuning: Alshon Jeffery, WR, Eagles
11.10 Krautwurst: Alexander Mattison, RB, Vikings
"Perfect time for a league winning high end handcuff ... to someone else's RB1."
11.11 Leonard: Darwin Thompson, RB, Chiefs
(Pick made before Chiefs signed DeAndre Washington.)
11.12 Wegman: Ian Thomas, TE, Panthers
12.01 Wegman: Justice Hill, RB, Ravens
12.02 Leonard: Curtis Samuel, WR, Panthers
12.03 Krautwurst: Hayden Hurst, TE, Falcons
"Gimme the 2020 breakout TE."
12.04 Tuning: Tevin Coleman, RB, 49ers
12.05 Serrano: Preston Williams, WR, Dolphins
12.06 Smola: Golden Tate, WR, Giants
12.07 Ripper: John Ross, WR, Bengals
12.08 Buck: Mike Gesicki, TE, Dolphins
"Gesicki is still flying under the fantasy radar, but you may not be able to say that for much longer. After the Dolphins bye in week 5, he averaged 6.5 targets and 10.4 fantasy points per game. He also scored 5 touchdowns in the last 6 games. There’s not much risk picking Gesicki at this spot and just hope he continues to improve going into his third season."
12.09 Jiggetts: Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals
12.10 Perkins: Drew Brees, QB, Saints
"Brees as my backup QB in the 12th gives me great value...and would make an excellent trade piece (in a live league), as I have Brees as a top 10 QB (if Brees plays all 16 games)."
12.11 Schauf: DeSean Jackson, WR, Eagles
12.12 Freelund: Devin Funchess, WR, Packers
"Was going to go DeSean Jackson here but he was stolen. I think Funchess could be a steal here, had some injuries last year and just didn't get on the field. GB needs a #2 WR and I think he can fill that roll."
13.01 Freelund: Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions
"I'll take Stafford as my QB2. When NE trades for him BB will make him realize his potential."
13.02 Schauf: Blake Jarwin, TE, Cowboys
"Or did I just get THE breakout TE of 2020?"
13.03 Perkins: Nyheim Hines, RB, Colts
"With Philip Rivers now the QB for the Colts, I’m thinking Hines becomes the Ekeler type RB for that team. Hines had 81 targets when Luck was the QB and an immobile Rivers will be more reliant on him than Luck was."
13.04 Jiggetts: James Washington, WR, Steelers
13.05 Buck: Hunter Renfrow, WR, Raiders
"It’s a very small sample size, but Renfrow absolutely killed it in the two games he played after getting injured. In each game he had 9 targets, over 100 receiving yards, and scored a touchdown. Who knows, maybe Renfrow can become something close to Julian Edelman. This late in the draft there’s no risk in taking a chance."
13.06 Ripper: Eric Ebron, TE, Steelers
13.07 Smola: Jack Doyle, TE, Colts
"Jack Doyle is the potential 100+ target TE that no one is talking about."
13.08 Serrano: Kirk Cousins, QB, Vikings
13.09 Tuning: Duke Johnson, RB, Texans
13.10 Krautwurst: Boston Scott, RB, Eagles
13.11 Leonard: Michael Pittman Jr., WR, ???
13.12 Wegman: Mecole Hardman, WR, Chiefs
"A piece of KC offense this late isn't the worst thing."
14.01 Wegman: Irv Smith Jr., TE, Vikings
14.02 Leonard: Gus Edwards, RB, Ravens
14.03 Krautwurst: Miles Boykin, WR, Ravens
14.04 Tuning: Jared Goff, QB, Rams
14.05 Serrano: Justin Jefferson, WR, ???
"One of my favorite WR in this class... at this point we’re talking about upside anyways."
14.06 Smola: Jamaal Williams, RB, Packers
14.07 Ripper: Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Steelers
14.08 Buck: Tee Higgins, WR, ???
14.09 Jiggetts: Rashaad Penny, RB, Seahawks
14.10 Perkins: Tony Pollard, RB, Cowboys
"I like what I saw with Pollard, last year. When you think about RB handcuffs, you want someone with: In a good offense, has a good O-line, and has the realistic potential to start. Pollard has the first two, and while Zeke isn’t prone to injury, he’s had 3, 300+ carry seasons out of four, including two straight. That’s a lot of wear. I’m not hoping for a Zeke injury, but Pollard becomes an instant fantasy starter if Zeke does go down."
14.11 Schauf: Zack Moss, RB, ???
14.12 Freelund: Giovani Bernard, RB, Bengals
15.01 Freelund: Greg Olsen, TE, Seahawks
15.02 Schauf: Corey Davis, WR, Titans
15.03 Perkins: Laviska Shenault, WR, ???
"Jalen Reagor is still on the board, and will be drafted before Shenault (due to Shenault’s bad performance at the Combine), but I think Shenault is more dangerous and can be used in multiple ways (ala Deebo Samuel)."
15.04 Jiggetts: T.J. Yeldon, RB, Bills
15.05 Buck: Jimmy Graham, TE, Bears
15.06 Ripper: Sam Darnold, QB, Jets
15.07 Smola: Jalen Reagor, WR, ???
15.08 Serrano: Chris Herndon, TE, Jets
15.09 Tuning: Dawson Knox, TE, Bills
15.10 Krautwurst: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Panthers
15.11 Leonard: Justin Jackson, RB, Chargers
15.12 Wegman: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Titans
