Stock Up/Stock Down Report (8-29 through 9-4)

By Jared Smola 9:09pm EDT 9/4/20

Stock Up: These players have moved up the Draft Sharks rankings over the past week.

Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington

It sounds like Gibson’s performance in training camp played a big part in Washington’s decision to release Adrian Peterson. The rookie figures to open the season with significant roles in the running and passing games. Consider him a RB3 with upside.

Sony Michel, RB, Patriots

He’s back on the rise with RB Damien Harris likely out for the opener after pinky surgery. It’s unclear how big a role Michel will be ready for after missing most of the summer, but he has a chance to build some momentum in a nice spot against the Dolphins.

Devine Ozigbo and Chris Thompson, RBs, Jaguars

With Leonard Fournette gone and Ryquell Armstead on the COVID list (again), Ozigbo and Thompson will likely open the season atop Jacksonville’s depth chart. Look for Ozigbo to handle most of the early-down work and Thompson the passing downs. Undrafted rookie RB James Robinson might also be involved.

Bryce Love, RB, Washington

He moved down then back up our rankings this week. The Athletic's Ben Standig reported on Wednesday that Love “isn’t a threat for work initially.” That was before Adrian Peterson’s release. We’re still not expecting Love to be a fantasy option early on this season. But his path to a role is easier now.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Eagles

Jalen Reagor’s shoulder injury locks Arcega-Whiteside into a starting role for at least Week 1. He’s an intriguing late-round flier in deeper fantasy drafts.

Scotty Miller, WR, Bucs

He emerged as 1 of QB Tom Brady’s favorite targets in camp and looks set to enter the season as Tampa’s #3 WR. That probably won’t be enough to make him a fantasy factor —but an injury to Mike Evans or Chris Godwin would change that.

Josh Gordon, WR, Seahawks

He re-signed with Seattle on Thursday. Gordon is still waiting to hear back from the league on his application for reinstatement, so it's unclear when he'll actually be available. And he caught just 7 balls on 11 targets in 5 games with the Seahawks last season. He’s not draft-worthy.

Ryan Succop, K, Bucs

He beat out Matt Gay for the starting job and is a viable fantasy option kicking for what should be a high-scoring Bucs offense.

Stephen Gostkowski, K, Titans

He was signed by the Titans on Thursday. Gostkowski figures to be a spot-start option throughout the season.

Stock Down: These players have moved down the Draft Sharks rankings over the past week.

Leonard Fournette, RB, Bucs

Well, at least he has a team. Fournette was dumped by the Jaguars on Monday and signed by the Bucs on Wednesday. That’s obviously a big upgrade in offense, but Fournette is a long shot for the type of volume fantasy drafters were expecting in Jacksonville. In fact, we expect him to start behind Ronald Jones on the depth chart. Consider Fournette a RB4 in fantasy drafts.

Ronald Jones, RB, Bucs

HC Bruce Arians says Jones is still “our guy.” But the addition of Fournette is certainly a threat. At minimum, Jones will be on a short leash if he struggles out of the gate. He moved down into low-end RB3 territory in the rankings.

Damien Harris, RB, Patriots

He had surgery on his pinky finger this week, and his availability for Week 1 is now "in question,” according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. That halts a buzzy summer for the 2nd-year back and gives RB Sony Michel a shot to reclaim the lead job.

Justin Jackson, RB, Chargers

He’s sidelined with a foot injury, leaving his Week 1 availability in doubt. Jackson might be 3rd on the Chargers’ depth chart when he returns, behind Austin Ekeler and rookie Joshua Kelley.

Adrian Peterson, RB, free agent

He was dumped by Washington on Friday. Peterson reportedly wants to continue playing. We’ll see if another team scoops him up, but he’s not worth a roster spot in fantasy right now.

Dare Ogunbowale, RB, free agent

He was released following the Bucs’ addition of Leonard Fournette.

Jalen Reagor, WR, Eagles

He hurt his shoulder in Sunday’s practice and is expected to miss about 4 weeks. That figures to cost Reagor the first 2 or 3 games of the season. He should return to a significant role, though, so he remains a nice bench stash.

Breshad Perriman, WR, Jets

He’s been sidelined for nearly 2 weeks now with what the team is calling knee swelling. Perriman won’t be an early-season fantasy option.

Tyrell Williams, WR, Raiders

He was placed on season-ending IR with a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Mohamed Sanu, WR, free agent

He was released by the Patriots on Wednesday. Sanu figures to latch on elsewhere but is off the fantasy radar for now.

Ian Thomas, TE, Panthers

He’s been sidelined with a hyperextended toe, according to The Athletic's Joseph Person. HC Matt Rhule expects Thomas back “pretty soon,” but his availability for Week 1 is uncertain.

Trey Burton, TE, Colts

He suffered a calf injury in practice last Saturday that’s expected to cost him the first 2 games of the season. That knocks Burton out of draft consideration — although we’ll be keeping a close eye on his role when he returns.

Matt Gay, K, free agent

Gay was released by the Bucs after struggling throughout camp.

Greg Joseph, K, free agent

He was released by the Titans on Thursday.
