You should go into every fantasy draft with a general plan of attack.
Of course, you’ll need to be able to adjust throughout the draft and pounce on value wherever it presents itself. That’s where the dynamic MVP Board with Suggested Picks comes in.
But building a round-by-round strategy beforehand certainly helps. That’s exactly what we’re doing with the Perfect Draft series — using the MVP Board and ADP to get an idea of where the value will be in each round.
This is the 12-Team PPR Perfect Draft. Each strategy guide assumes 16-round drafts and starting lineups of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K and 1 DEF. The MVP Board will help you adjust your strategy if your league settings are different.
Note: August 30 updates are in bold.
Pick 1, 2, 3 or 4
RBs: Todd Gurley, Le’Veon Bell, David Johnson, Ezekiel Elliott
Don’t get cute here. This is your chance to lock up an elite RB.
Gurley is the safest bet, recently passing holdout Bell for the #1 spot in our rankings.
Johnson re-passed Elliott in our PPR rankings with some injury issues on Dallas' offensive line.
RBs: Joe Mixon, Devonta Freeman, Jerick McKinnon, Jordan Howard
WRs: A.J. Green, Mike Evans
TEs: Rob Gronkowski
You’ll likely see Gronk as the top Suggested Pick here. He still provides a big weekly advantage, out-scoring the #2 TE (Travis Kelce) by 1.6 PPR points per game last year.
We've removed Christian McCaffrey, whose ADP has climbed into the early 2nd round. He's been replaced by Freeman, who passed McKinnon in the rankings.
McKinnon's ADP has sunk to 3.04, so he's a better target with your next pick.
Howard is an option here now after an encouraging preseason.
At WR, Evans replaces Doug Baldwin, who remains sidelined with his knee issue.
