Week 11 IDP Free Agent Focus

By Matt Schauf 10:11pm EST 11/11/18

Cameron Heyward, DE, Steelers

Heyward owners endured 3 straight near-empty performances before Thursday night, which might have gotten him dropped in some places. If that happened in your league, then go ahead and get in on the bidding for him after a 2-sack rebound vs. the Panthers.

Heyward only needed to rebound statistically, though. He has been delivering pressure consistently all season -- including 4+ in 3 straight games and 4 of his past 5.

Markus Golden, DE, Cardinals

You might have seen Golden in this article 2 weeks ago, following a big outing against the Niners and ahead of the Week 9 bye.

Golden returned for a predictably quiet Week 10 against the Chiefs: 3 tackles, 2 solo, 1 for loss. But next comes a matchup with the wretched Raiders. And then after a negative Week 12 matchup with the Chargers comes 3 straight positive spots vs. the Packers, Lions and Falcons.

Roquan Smith, ILB, Bears

The rookie finally looks ready to deliver. Smith flashed for a 13-tackle line back in Week 6 but has otherwise posted disappointing numbers since entering the lineup. That has changed the past 2 weeks, though.

Smith racked up his 2nd straight double-digit tackle performance Sunday against the Lions, adding a sack and a pass deflection to his 10 stops (9 solo). If he’s available in your league, make sure that changes.

Jatavis Brown, LB, Chargers

We included Brown in this space last week, and then he delivered a 2nd straight 11-tackle outing in Sunday’s win over the Raiders. Brown has now posted 3 of the 4 largest fantasy scores among Chargers LBs this season, despite only topping 63% playing time once before Sunday.

We’ll see if his snap share grew against the Raiders, but Brown has shown enough -- the past 2 weeks and in previous seasons -- to be worth a shot in many leagues even if he stays in the 60-70% range.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Washington

Clinton-Dix followed a decent 7 tackles in his 1st Washington game with 8 solos and a pass breakup (plus a fumble recovery) in Sunday’s win at Tampa Bay. Tackle volume should remain for the veteran safety behind a soft LB corps and amid a secondary that allows 66.6% completions.

Shawn Williams, S, Bengals

Williams posted a 3rd straight strong fantasy line in Sunday’s loss to the Saints. This time included 10 tackles (plus a QB hit). Before the bye, he collected 20 total tackles and a pair of INTs across 2 games.

Cincinnati has dealt with multiple injuries at LB, helping present tackle opportunities to the safeties. But a new scheme has also meant more aggressiveness from the position. With 6 INTs through 9 games, Bengals DBs already sit just 2 short of the season total for last year’s group.

Eric Reid, S, Panthers

Before he got booted for hitting QB Ben Roethlisberger in the head Thursday night, Reid delivered 9 tackles. That marked his 4th straight solid fantasy outing, a stretch that included two 9-tackle games, 7 tackles and a sack in Week 8, and his 1st INT of the year in Week 9.

Prince Amukamara, CB, Bears

Amukamara has continued to have trouble staying on the field this season, but the past 4 weeks have seen him make it through a full contest each time while playing nearly every snap. Sunday also found him racking up 8 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed (including an INT) in the win over the Lions.

The next 3 weeks include a rematch with Detroit, plus offenses from the Vikings and Giants that entered Week 10 as top-10 scoring matchups for fantasy DBs.
