Quick recap of last week’s picks in this space:
I’m done with Kyle Allen as a fantasy QB. Noah Fant looks like a weekly starting option going forward. And I either overrated the Washington defense or underrated the Jets’ offense. That distinction could prove important for our Week 12 selections.
The Falcons defense suddenly turned into a bully coming out of the Week 9 bye. First, it went to New Orleans and limited the Saints to 9 points while sacking Drew Brees 5 times. Then it went to Carolina, sacked Allen 5 times and picked him 4 other times.
We’ll see about Atlanta. A positive home matchup with the Buccaneers makes the Falcons an attractive Week 12 D. As for Allen, that makes 10 turnovers for his offense over the past 4 games -- 3 of which have included 16 points or fewer. If you’re hard up for a Week 13 QB, then maybe Allen can pull it together for a home date with Washington. But don’t expect to find him among our top 12 QBs even for that week.
The Washington defense, of course, just allowed 400 yards, 34 points and 4 TD passes to the Jets last weekend. It got to Sam Darnold for just 2 sacks and 4 total QB hits. The matchups won’t get much better than that. Can Darnold repeat in a positive matchup with the Raiders this week? We’ll see.
As for Fant, the rookie TE has now seen 26% of Denver’s targets in the 3 games since the Emmanuel Sanders trade. That included a season-high 11 looks at Minnesota last Sunday and a then season-high 9 at Indy 2 weeks prior.
Let’s get to the picks for Week 12 ...
