Play of the Week: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ($6,100)
His price climbed just $100 from last week, despite a big 28.3-point outing in the opener. Mahomes is sitting 11th among main-slate QBs in DraftKings salary (not including Carson Wentz) and is 3rd in our Week 2 Rankings.
That big Week 1 performance came on just 27 pass attempts, as the Chiefs played with the lead throughout. Expect significantly more volume this Sunday in Pittsburgh, where the Steelers offense always puts up points. The Chiefs are currently 4-point underdogs in a game with the week’s highest over/under at 53.
Pay Up For and Tournament Target: Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers ($6,900)
I’m hoping folks flock to Drew Brees at the top of the QB board after his huge Week 1. Roethlisberger, on the other hand, struggled in the opener. No surprise considering he was on the road.
Now he’s back at home, where he averaged 336 yards and 2.6 TDs per game last season (including playoffs). Dating back over the past 3 years, Roethlisberger has chucked 3+ scores in 12 of 23 games (52.2%) at Heinz Field. He should always be in your tournament pool when he’s at home.
I might just use him in 100% of my tournament lineups this week. He gets a Chiefs pass defense that looked like 1 of the worst in the league heading into the season — and then coughed up 424 yards and 3 scores to Philip Rivers in the opener.
