Najee Harris left Sunday’s opener after rolling his ankle. Warren took over the backfield at that point, with no other RB even playing a snap.
Harris’ ankle is expected to be ready for the Week 2 clash with New England, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. If that’s not the case, though, Warren would be in line to run the backfield for an offense that would prefer fewer Mitchell Trubisky pass attempts.
Moreover, Harris has already dealt with a Lisfranc injury and this ankle tweak, and he’s just 1 game into the season. Harris’ heavy workload subjects him to a lot of hits and injury risk. Even though he checks in fairly low in risk among RBs by our Injury Guide algorithm, it’s still more likely that Harris misses at least some time this season.
With the ankle already adding early risk, get Warren stashed this week. He becomes more of a priority the greater your RB need is.
