WEEK 3 INJURY SUMMARY & VIDEOS

Week three was quite exciting. There were so many injuries in week two that I am happy to announce they were not as many significant injuries in week three. With many of the top players already banged up including Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Michael Thomas, Chris Godwin, Devante Adams, and Julio Jones dealing with injuries over the past 10 days.
They were a couple of concussions to two wide receivers that ended their day’s early, including Diontae Johnson of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Russell Gage of the Atlanta Falcons.
The largest injury of the day appears to be a torn ACL for the recently extended Chicago Bears running back to Tarik Cohen. An MRI in the morning should confirm the unfortunate season ending injury.
The injuries continue to mount for the Philadelphia Eagles, already struggling with rookie Jalen Reagor‘s recent thumb injury, add in some miss time with Miles Sanders, a soon to return Alshon Jeffery and now add Dallas Goedert, who is dealing with a foot/ankle injury that could sign Hiren him a couple weeks depending on the imaging. DeSean Jackson also left the game early with a hamstring injury which I believe he was already dealing with but we aggravated.
The only team probably hurting more than the Eagles, besides maybe the Broncos is the San Francisco 49ers. Already without star tight end George Kittle who is likely to return in week four, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who is dealing with a high ankle sprain, running back Raheem Mostert who should miss a couple weeks with an MCL injury and Tevin Coleman who is dealing with a knee injury of his own. Add in Deebo Samuel who is likely to return the next two weeks.
Replacement tight end Jordan Reed suffered an ankle injury today that needs to be monitored. Third string running back Jerick McKinnon suffered a rib injury today that could potentially hold him out of Week 4 depending on the severity.
Colts rookie wide receiver Michael Pittman suffered an ankle injury but was able to return to the game. Fellow wide receiver Paris Campbell was recently placed on IR after suffering both a PCL and MCL injury to his knee last week.
The Bills, who stormed back to beat the Rams and secure a 3-0 start. John Brown, who had been recently dealing with a foot injury, left the game early with a calf injury. These have a tendency to linger and usually will keep him out at least a couple weeks.
The Chargers Mike Williams, who suffered a grade 3 AC/shoulder sprain in training, camp re-injured his shoulder today. New should clarify the extent of his current injury. He returned much faster than traditional protocols so maybe he can repeat his magic again. Rookie Justin Herbert was in at QB for the chargers, after Tyrod Taylor who had been dealing with a rib fracture, received an injection before Week 3’s game which unfortunately punctured his lung, causing a pneumothorax. I expect him to miss a couple more weeks.
In a thrilling shoot out, Seahawks running back Chris Carson suffered a left knee sprain after a defender twisted his knee at the end of a play. Depending on the severity of the damage this could range from 1 to 4 weeks.
The Buccaneers wide receivers have struggled to stay healthy through the first three weeks of the season. Initially Mike Evans was dealing with a hamstring strain and then Chris Godwin suffered a concussion in Week 1, which kept him out of week two. Now Godwin strained his hamstring and it remains to be seen how long he’s going to miss now.
In the Sunday night game, New Orleans Saints, who should get Michael Thomas back in Week 4, potentially lost another receiving option, as tight end Jared Cook suffered a groin strain. These traditionally take about two weeks to heal, but can be much longer if it is a sports hernia.
I discussed the majority of these injuries today, find the links below.
