Vontaze Burfict, LB, Bengals
I left him out of last week’s waiver-wire write-up because sometimes I just get caught in a deeper-league bubble.
Burfict should have already been owned in any IDP league of decent depth heading into Week 3. Now that he’s ready to return from suspension, Burfict should be owned in every IDP league.
Before his initial suspension, I had Burfict projected #2 among all LBs in our default scoring system. No. 3, Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander, has since tweaked the hamstring that disrupted his August.
Burfict will open his season with an upside matchup at the Browns. Vincent Rey, by the way, figures to head back to the sideline.
Demario Davis, LB, Jets
With 1 game left in Week 3 as of this writing, Davis sits tied for 2nd in the league in tackles. He jumped to that spot with 12 stops in Sunday’s win over the Dolphins, including 11 solos.
That came 2 weeks after Davis notched 14 tackles (8 solo) at Buffalo in the opener. He looks clearly ahead of 2nd-year LB Darron Lee.
Next Sunday will find another upside matchup in the Jaguars coming to town.
