The Year of the Chalk continued last week. DeMarco Murray, Spencer Ware, Jacquizz Rodgers, Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Mike Evans and even Jack Doyle came through.
The most popular plays have been hitting at an abnormally high rate this season. It won’t last. We’re due for 1 of those wacky weeks that makes us reconsider everything we thought we knew about fantasy football.
But that doesn’t mean you should avoid the chalk. They’re chalk for a reason — because they’re the best plays.
You shouldn’t be concerned with ownership percentages at all in cash games (50/50s, doubleups and head-to-heads). Even in tournaments, it should only be part of your decision-making process. You can win tourneys with chalk plays. And you should only fade those guys if you have a legitimately good reason. “Because his ownership is gonna be too high” is not a legitimate reason.
