Week 8 DraftKings Tournament Picks

QB

Jimmy Garoppolo ($5,400)

Jimmy rarely has ceiling games. He doesn’t use his legs and usually doesn’t have a lot of passing attempts with the 49ers traditionally having a strong defense and running game.

In this game, I expect Garoppolo to have to throw a lot going up against the elite Seattle offense as 3-point underdogs without their top RBs Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and potentially Tevin Coleman.

Kyle Shanahan is a smart coach and obviously the weakness of Seattle is their historically bad pass defense, which has given up by far the most yards in the league. That includes almost 400 to Cam Newton, who hasn’t been able to do anything since.

Garoppolo should be able to get the 300+ yard bonus — and if he throws a couple TDs he’ll easily achieve value at just $5,400 on DK this week.

I will be looking to roster Jimmy in at least 15-20% of my Week 8 DK lineups. He has easy stack options this week in Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle.

RB

Jamaal Williams ($6,100)

Williams is an elite value this week, priced as the RB14 on DK. I’m surprised they didn’t more aggressively raise his price with Aaron Jones expected to miss another game with a calf injury.

It’s a great matchup for Williams against the Vikings’ 20th ranked rush defense. He was heavily used in Week 7 against the Texans, dominating Packers RB opportunities with 24 compared to just 5 for rookie A.J. Dillon.

With the Packers favored by a TD, it should be another big game for Williams.

With heavy projected winds, Aaron Rodgers may look to check down a bit more than usual. Williams has shown a great ability to catch the ball out of the backfield with 3 games this season with 4+ catches.

WRs

Keenan Allen ($6,200)

I was shocked to see Allen’s price unmoved after another dominating 10-125 performance against the Jags in Week 7.

Allen is a phenomenal DK play. He’s been getting peppered with targets from Justin Herbert with 53 in his last 4 healthy games.

Allen will certainly be popular in Week 8 against the Broncos’ 15th ranked pass defense against opposing WRs — but he’s impossible to avoid at such a juicy price tag.

Allen projects top 2 in targets on the Week 8 slate behind only potentially Davante Adams. He’s a locked in WR1 as long as Justin Herbert is playing QB for the Chargers.

I will be playing Allen in at least 30% of my Week 8 DK GPP lineups.

Tyler Boyd ($6,600)

Boyd is quietly having a very nice year, with 48 catches, 517 yards and 2 TDs through 7 games. Boyd dominated last week with 11-101-1 against the Browns.

It’s another great matchup for Boyd this week against the Titans, who have given up the 5th most fantasy production to opposing WRs.

Boyd seems to fly under the radar every week. That could be the case again this week as he’s Joe Burrow’s favorite option in the pass game and could easily have another 30+ point DK week.

TE

George Kittle ($7,000)

Kittle has a massive ceiling this week with Deebo Samuel ruled out due to a hamstring injury and the 49ers expected to be more pass-heavy against Seattle’s terrible pass defense.

Kittle checks all the boxes. He should see an uptick in volume and could have a repeat performance like he had against the Eagles earlier this season, when he went for 15-183-1 and 43.1 DK points.

The TE position has been brutal this season and Kittle has the highest floor/ceiling combo among TEs on the Week 8 slate. I will aggressively be playing Kittle in at least 35% of my DK GPP.

DST

Browns ($2,600)

As 2.5-point home favorites against the Raiders, the Browns are simply mis-priced at just $2,600. The Raiders have had a lot of problems on the offensive line — and the Browns pass rush has been solid with 18 sacks on the season.

The Browns have been giving up a lot of points but have been opportunistic with 7 INTs and 7 forced fumbles on the season.

I expect the Raiders to score 24+ points. But if the Browns get a few sacks and force a couple turnovers, they will return value at their cheap price tag.

I will be looking to roster Cleveland in at least 10-15% of my GPP lineups.
