Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Jaguars expect WR Zay Jones back from his knee injury next week, ESPN's Chris Fowler said during the London game. Jones has yet to practice since hurting his knee back in Week 2. We'll track his status this coming week.
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (knee) is still "weeks away" from playing, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Murray is eligible to come off the PUP list next week but isn't ready to practice yet. Murray still "wants and plans" to play this season, but Schefter believes it will be late October, "at the earliest," before we see him. This isn't a surprise after Murray tore his ACL this past December. If you've had Murray stashed on your fantasy bench, keep stashing him. But this report does mean that Murray isn't worth adding off waiver wires for at least another few weeks.
Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday morning's game vs. the Falcons. He's yet to practice since hurting that knee in Week 2. His absence leaves a handful of targets to go around for WR Calvin Ridley, WR Christian Kirk, and TE Evan Engram.
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson called WR Zay Jones (knee) a "long shot" to play vs. the Falcons in London on Sunday morning. WR Christian Kirk got a playing-time boost with Jones out last week, running a route on 89.8% of Jacksonville's pass plays. He's a much safer fantasy play with Jones out.
Cardinals RB James Conner piled up 98 rushing yards and 1 score on 14 attempts. Surprisingly, Arizona’s O-line opened up several holes for Conner to exploit. He nearly went untouched on his goal line score from 5 yards out. The veteran has now scored in two straight, while he’s hit 15 opportunities in all three games. He’ll be tested Sunday at San Francisco, especially with the 49ers having a rest advantage.
Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Week 3 vs. the Texans. His absence should lead to greater opportunity for teammate Christian Kirk to build upon his resurgent 14-catch, 110-receiving-yard performance from last Sunday. See where Kirk lands in our current WR rankings.
Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) missed his second straight practice on Thursday. He's seemingly in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Titans. Jones' absence would boost the target projections for Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, and Evan Engram.
Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) won't practice on Wednesday, HC Doug Pederson said. Pederson labeled Jones "day-to-day." He was able to return to last weekend's loss to the Chiefs, so Jones seemingly has a shot to play vs. the Texans this weekend. But he wouldn't be a strong fantasy play at less than 100%.
The Cardinals on Monday placed S Budda Baker on IR. That means he'll miss at least another four games, on top of the loss to the Giants he already missed. K'Von Wallace played every snap in place of Baker and should be the starter while the vet is out. Wallace led Arizona in total tackles and has history with HC Jonathan Gannon from Gannon's time as Eagles DC. He's a decent addition for balanced and more tackle-heavy IDP formats.
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson labeled WR Zay Jones day-to-day with the knee injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Jones is still set for additional testing on the knee. He was able to return to the Week 2 game, so we're tentatively expecting him to be available for this weekend's game vs. the Texans. But we'll update his status when we know more.
Cardinals RB James Conner received 23 carries for 106 rushing yards and 1 TD in Sunday’s loss to the Giants. The veteran only saw a single target in Week 2 and didn’t record a catch. For the second week in a row, Conner significantly out-worked his fellow RBs with 82.7% of the backfield touch opportunities, reaffirming his status as a workhorse for fantasy managers. He’ll figure to be a quality RB2 option again in Week 3 vs. the Cowboys.
Cardinals S Budda Baker is inactive for today's game against the Giants. He suffered a hamstring injury in Friday's practice. S K'Von Wallace figures to step up after working as the third safety in Week 1.
Jaguars WR Zay Jones suffered a knee injury in the first half of Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs and is questionable to return. We'll pass along an update on his status when we learn more.
Update: Jones returned to the game.
Cardinals S Budda Bker popped up on Friday's injury report with a hamstring issue that has him questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants. Baker sustained the injury during Friday's workout. We'll see about his status Sunday ahead of the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. If we don't know about Baker heading into the early games, you might need to sit him for another option in your IDP lineup.
Cardinals RB James Conner saw 14 carries for 62 rushing yards in Sunday’s loss to the Commanders. He also caught all 5 targets for 8 receiving yards in Week 1. Those who play in PPR leagues can’t be too upset with a double-digit performance, and 73.6% of the team’s RB carries from Conner. The Cardinals' offense is likely to struggle until QB Kyler Murray returns from rehabbing his ACL. Next up for Arizona is a Week 2 game vs. the Giants.
The Cardinals will keep QB Kyler Murray on the physically unable to perform list to open the regular season, according to multiple reports. That's no surprise, as Murray continues to work back from a November ACL tear. He'll miss at least the first four games. We've had Murray projected to miss five games all along in your fantasy football rankings. The Cardinals are also releasing QB Colt McCoy. That'll mean it's either rookie Clayton Tune or newly acquired Josh Dobbs starting for Arizona over the first month. We'll see who wins that post between now and Week 1.
Cardinals RB Marlon Mack has torn his left Achilles' tendon and will miss the season. It's his second time dealing with such an injury. Mack tore the right Achilles' in Week 1 of 2020. The latest injury seems likely to end the 27-year-old's NFL career. He has logged just 44 total carries since the 2020 tear. Don't be surprised if the Cardinals look to bring in another veteran RB.
The Cardinals signed RB Marlon Mack. Since tearing his Achilles in September of 2020, Mack has totaled just 185 yards on 44 carries. Arizona has only RBs Keaontay Ingram, Corey Clement, and Ty'Son Williams behind James Conner, but Mack still isn't guaranteed a roster spot. He's not worth a roster spot in fantasy football.
Cardinals QB Kyler Murray said Saturday that he was a fan of WR Michael Wilson before the team drafted him. "I saw what he did at the Senior Bowl ... I like his releases, I liked how he moved. His one-on-ones at the Senior Bowl looked good," Murray said. "I was already fond of him before we drafted him." Wilson has gotten some buzz early in training camp and is already getting first-team reps. The rookie has a chance to be a factor this season, especially when Murray gets back on the field.
ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reports that the Cardinals have added bonus money and incentives to S Budda Baker's contract. The veteran requested a trade in the offseason. This pay increase should solve any lingering issues for 2023. His deal runs through 2024 but doesn't appear to have any guaranteed money left in that final season. We'll see whether this is Baker's final year in Arizona.
