Jaguars CB Sidney Jones (Achilles' tendon) is out for today's game against the Steelers. C.J. Henderson, Tre Herndon and D.J. Hayden look like the top 3 Jacksonville corners against Pittsburgh in a terrific matchup for the Steelers' entire offense.
Jaguars CB Sidney Jones is questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers. He put in limited workouts Wednesday and Thursday because of an Achilles' tendon injury. Jones then sat out Friday altogether. That certainly doesn't seem to bode well for his Sunday participation. We'll check his status on game day, though.
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Monday that RB Carlos Hyde (hamstring) is ahead of RB Chris Carson (foot) in their rehabs. "I expect Carlos to make it for this week," Carroll said. And of Carson: "Chris is working to get back. He's trying to make it." We'll keep an eye on the situation over the next few days, but it sounds like there's a chance that Hyde is Seattle's lead back vs. the Cardinals on Thursday night.
Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. The rookie seems to at least have a chance to play against the Packers this weekend after getting knocked out of last Sunday's game after just 10 snaps. Check back tomorrow for another update.
Jaguars HC Doug Marrone said Monday that QB Jake Luton will "likely" start against the Packers this weekend. QB Gardner Minshew is expected to remain sidelined with his thumb injury. Luton flashed in his debut yesterday, notably on a 73-yard TD strike to WR D.J. Chark. But he graded out just 21st among QBs on the week, according to Pro Football Focus. Luton remains just a lower-end QB2 for Week 10.
Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault (hamstring) got "good news" on his MRI and "has a chance" to play against the Packers on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We'll monitor the rookie's practice participation this week, although he probably shouldn't be in your Week 10 fantasy plans coming off this injury.
Jaguars K Josh Lambo is likely to miss the rest of the season after aggravating his "gluteus medius" injury on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We'll see what Jacksonville's plan is to replace him, but Lambo owners will need to be in the market for a new K this week.
Jaguars HC Doug Marrone confirmed on Monday that QB Gardner Minshew (thumb) is out for Sunday's game against the Texans. Marrone also said that QB Jake Luton will take most of the starter reps in practice this week. That obviously makes him the favorite to start over QB Mike Glennon. Luton is a 6th-round rookie out Oregon State who posted a mediocre 62% completion rate and 7.6 yards per attempt in his lone full season as starter last year. Luton did at least toss 28 TDs vs. 3 INTs. He doesn't bring any rushing upside, though, and won't be a Week 9 fantasy option.
Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew (thumb) is not expected to play against the Texans next Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Veteran Mike Glennon and rookie Jake Luton will reportedly compete for the Week 9 starting job in practice. Neither guy will be a bankable fantasy play, despite the plus matchup. It's unclear if Jacksonville will go back to Minshew once he's healthy.
The Seahawks' final Week 8 injury report lists RB Carlos Hyde (hamstring) as doubtful and RBs Chris Carson (foot) and Travis Homer (knee) as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Hyde and Carson were unable to practice all week, while Homer only got in a limited practice on Friday. HC Pete Carroll said they'll go "all the way to game time'' before making a decision on these 3 guys. Hyde is obviously unlikely to play, and we're betting against Carson suiting up after he was labeled "week to week" by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Monday. We'll see about Homer. Rookie DeeJay Dallas is Seattle's only healthy RB and at this point looks like the favorite to lead the backfield in touches on Sunday. 49ers-Seahawks doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm ET, but hopefully we'll get an update on this backfield on Sunday morning.
Seahawks RBs Chris Carson (foot), Carlos Hyde (hamstring) and Travis Homer (knee) all remained sidelined on Thursday. We're getting closer to rookie DeeJay Dallas serving as Seattle's lead back vs. the 49ers on Sunday. Check back tomorrow for another update.
X-rays this week revealed that Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew has multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right (throwing) thumb, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Minshew has reportedly been experiencing discomfort in that thumb since the Texans game back in Week 5. That at least partially explains his uneven play over the last 3 games. Minshew has a Week 8 bye, but it's unclear if he'll be able to play come Week 9. If not, Jacksonville would turn to either veteran Mike Glennon or 6th-round rookie Jake Luton.
Seahawks RBs Chris Carson (foot), Carlos Hyde (hamstring) and Travis Homer (knee) all missed Wednesday's practice. That left DeeJay Dallas, who's on the injury report with an arm but put in a full practice, as Seattle's only RB. Carson isn't expected to play vs. the 49ers this weekend, while Hyde and Homer are uncertain. We'll continue to monitor the situation but recommend stashing Dallas in the meantime.
Chris Carson isn't the only Seahawks RB dealing with an injury. HC Pete Carroll said Monday that RB Carlos Hyde has tightness in his hamstring, and RB Travis Homer has a knee bruise. That leaves rookie DeeJay Dallas as the only healthy RB on the roster. Carson will miss Sunday's game against the 49ers, but we'll have to see about Hyde and Homer. Dallas is worth a wait-and-see stash in the meantime.
Seahawks CB Shaq Griffin officially left Sunday night's loss to the Cardinals early with a concussion. He'll need to pass through the league protocol before returning from that. But 950 KJR in Seattle reports that Griffin is also dealing with a hamstring injury. It seems we should at least expect Griffin to miss next Sunday's matchup with the 49ers.
Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew could be benched as early as today's game against the Chargers if he continues to struggle, NFL Network reports. Minshew has completed 67.5% of his passes and tossed 11 TDs through 6 games. But he's also been picked off 5 times in his last 5 -- and the Jags have lost all 5 of those games. We'll see if Minshew can save his job today, but he's obviously a risky fantasy play. QB Mike Glennon is Jacksonville's backup.
