Vikings K Dan Bailey (back) got in just 1 limited practice this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions. Look elsewhere for your fantasy kicker.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) took 1st-team reps in Thursday's practice. He was listed as limited but seems on track to play in Sunday night's must-win game vs. the Eagles.
Texans RB Duke Johnson (neck) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday. If he's able to return for Sunday's finale vs. the Titans, he'd figure to steal a handful of touches from RB David Johnson.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Washington QB Alex Smith appears on track to return from his calf injury and start Sunday night's finale against the Eagles. If he can't go, Taylor Heinicke would step in.
Titans K Stephen Gostkowski has been placed on the COVID list. If he tested positive, he'll miss Sunday's game vs. the Texans. If he was merely a close contact, he'll be eligible to play in that one if he continues to test negative.
The Patriots aren't expected to activate WR Julian Edelman for tonight's game against the Bills, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's "unlikely" he returns for Week 17. We'll see whether that means the end of the 34-year-old's career. New England will close out the year with Jakobi Meyers, Damiere Byrd and N'Keal Harry as its top 3 wideouts.
Jets RB Frank Gore will miss the regular-season finale against the Patriots because of a lung contusion he suffered in Sunday's win over the Browns, according to Eric Allen of Jets 360. His absence leaves the backfield to rookie La'Mical Perine and Ty Johnson. Neither will be an exciting option, but it's an upside matchup against a New England D that has struggled vs. the run all year.
Saints LB Kwon Alexander tore the Achilles' tendon in his right leg in Friday's win over the Vikings. That obviously ends his season, and the late-December timing figures to threaten his start to 2021. The final 2 years remaining on his contract look expensive and cuttable. So we'll see what the offseason holds for this 26-year-old, whom the Saints acquired via trade in November. LB Alex Anzalone replaced Alexander against Minnesota and figures to return to the starting lineup the rest of the way.
Jets RB Frank Gore left in the 4th quarter of Sunday's win over the Browns with a chest injury. We'll see about the severity this week. Rookie La'Mical Perine handled the team's final 4 RB carries after Gore left. Perine drew just 2 first-half carries in his return from a high-ankle sprain, vs. Ty Johnson's 2 and Gore's 6. Johnson and Perine would likely split work if Gore can't go in Week 17. Even if Gore returns, the Jets might elect to take a better look at the rookie in the regular-season finale.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. QB Dwayne Haskins gets another start but is well off the fantasy radar.
Texans RB C.J. Prosise is inactive for today's game vs. the Bengals. He was left off the final injury report, so he looks like a healthy scratch. With RB Duke Johnson also out, David Johnson will dominate backfield work for Houston again today.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweets that "optimism is waning" about Washington QB Alex Smith's availability for today's game vs. the Panthers. Smith put in a full practice on Friday, but it sounds like he was sore the next day. QB Dwayne Haskins is in line for another start.
The Seahawks have activated TE Greg Olsen from IR. He missed the past 4 games after rupturing the plantar fascia in his left foot. Olsen returns to an offense that has been running a TE committee both with and without him. It’s not an attractive fantasy situation, especially for a matchup with 1 of the league’s top defenses
Texans RB Duke Johnson (neck) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. Houston will get RB C.J. Prosise back for this one, but RB David Johnson handle the vast majority of the backfield work.
Washington QB Alex Smith (calf) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. He was listed as a full participant and reportedly took most of the 1st-team reps in Friday's practice, so we're expecting him to get the start. Smith isn't much of a fantasy option but brings more stability to the offense than QB Dwayne Haskins.
Texans RB Duke Johnson (neck) remained sidelined on Wednesday. With Duke out last week, RB David Johnson played 80% of Houston's offensive snaps and racked up 8 carries and 11 targets. He gets a big boost with Duke misses Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Browns DT Sheldon Richardson left Sunday night's win over the Giants with a neck injury. X-rays came back negative, according to Andrew Gribble of the team website. We'll see about Richardson's status heading into next Sunday's matchup with the Jets, Richardson's original team.
Saints QB Drew Brees (ribs) is officially active for today’s game against the Chiefs. He’s historically been great at home and figures to find himself in a shootout vs. Patrick Mahomes. But Brees also carries elevated risk in his 1st game back from injury and without WR Michael Thomas. Consider him a risk/reward QB1 option.
Seahawks DE Carlos Dunlap (foot) is active for today's game against Washington. He managed only a single limited practice Friday, though, and saw his snaps limited the last time he played through this foot issue 2 weeks ago. There's upside to Dunlap's matchup, but he's a risky IDP option. He's more worth a shot in sack-heavy scoring than in formats that lean toward tackle scoring.
Texans RBs Duke Johnson (neck) and C.J. Prosise (ankle) have been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Colts. David Johnson is now a candidate to handle 100% of Houston's RB touches. The matchup isn't ideal, but Johnson is a volume-based RB2 candidate.
