Panthers CB Rasul Douglas (ankle) is active for today's game against the Lions. With CB Donte Jackson out, that leaves Douglas, Corn Elder and Troy Pride Jr. as the top 3 corners vs. a Lions WR corps down Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola.
The Panthers will start QB P.J. Walker today against the Lions. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Carolina decided to deactivate Teddy Bridgewater after initially saying he'd be on the active roster for the game. Walker is an intriguing dual-threat athlete but shouldn't be used outside DFS and deep multi-QB leagues.
Panthers CB Rasul Douglas (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions. He landed on the injury report as a limited participant Friday after opening the week not listed. We'll check his status Sunday. The team will likely miss CB Donte Jackson (toe), who is doubtful.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is out for Sunday’s game against the Lions. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 12, but it’s worth noting that Carolina has a Week 13 bye. Don’t be surprised if CMC is held out until Week 14. RB Mike Davis has struggled as the Panthers’ lead back lately but gets Detroit’s 32nd-ranked RB defense on Sunday.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is "unlikely" to play against the Lions on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It's worth noting that Carolina still has a bye coming up in Week 13, so it's possible McCaffrey is held out through that. He's obviously still worth stashing on fantasy benches. RB Mike Davis has floundered over his last 4 starts, totaling just 212 yards and 1 TD.
Panthers S Jeremy Chinn is active for today's game against the Buccaneers. Chinn missed last week with a knee injury but should be back in IDP lineups today. CB Donte Jackson (toe) is also active. He hit the day questionable.
Panthers S Jeremy Chinn is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Chinn closed out the week with a full Friday practice, so he seems likely to return after missing Week 8. We'll check his status Sunday, though.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. He reportedly has a good chance to return for Week 11. Mike Davis gets another game as Carolina’s feature back but is more of a RB2 in fantasy lineups in a negative matchup.
Panthers DE Brian Burns turned up on Thursday's injury report with a groin issue that limited his participation. HC Matt Rhule said Burns "tweaked" his groin in Wednesday's practice, according to the team website. So the fact that he was practicing at all on Thursday seems like a good sign. Rhule reportedly said he's confident that Burns will play Sunday against the Bucs.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that there's a "realistic chance" Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is able to play against the Lions next weekend. It sounds like the 2nd opinion on that injured shoulder came back favorable. We'll keep an eye on McCaffrey next week. RB Mike Davis gets another start vs. the Bucs this Sunday.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) is not expected to play against the Bucs on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. McCaffrey is getting a 2nd opinion on the right shoulder and is now considered "week to week." So Mike Davis will slide back into the lead back role for at least Week 10. After a hot start in that role, Davis seemed to run low on gas over his final 3 starts, averaging just 56 total yards per game. This is also a rough matchup vs. Tampa Bay, so consider Davis more of a RB2 for Week 10.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule deemed RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) "day to day" at his press conference on Monday. But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reiterates that McCaffrey's availability for this weekend's game against the Bucs is "very much in doubt." We'll be tracking his status throughout this week.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said Monday he hopes to have S Jeremy Chinn back in the lineup for Week 10. Chinn missed Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a knee injury but managed 2 limited practices and hit the weekend questionable. We'll watch his participation this week, leading up to Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's return at Kansas City. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that "his status this week is very much in doubt" pending further tests on the joint. Keep Mike Davis at the ready (and get him off waivers if he's been dropped). We'll certainly track this situation closely.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey appeared to injure his right shoulder late in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. He returned after missing just a few plays but was clearly in pain. We'll look for an update on CMC tomorrow and monitor his practice participation throughout the week. As we've been saying, RB Mike Davis should remain stashed on fantasy benches.
Panthers S Jeremy Chinn (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Chiefs.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is officially active for today’s game against the Chiefs. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that he’s expected to "rotate series" with RB Mike Davis, but McCaffrey is still a must-start in season-long leagues.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to "rotate series" with RB Mike Davis against the Chiefs today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The plan is to have neither of these guys play too many plays in a row to make sure they're fresh," Rapoports adds, comparing the situation to how the Saints use Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray. We're still expecting McCaffrey to lead the backfield in touches today, but don't expect a monster workload. Davis is a RB3 or flex option if we can get 10+ touches out of him.
The Jets don't expect QB Sam Darnold to play Monday night against the Patriots after he aggravated his right shoulder injury in practice this week. That will mean a 3rd start for Joe Flacco, who managed 195 yards against the Cardinals in Week 5 and 186 against the Dolphins in Week 6. For the season, Flacco is averaging just 5.0 yards per pass attempt. He's not a significant downgrade vs. Darnold, though, if you're considering any Jets wideout for your lineup this weekend.
The Panthers have officially activated RB Christian McCaffrey from IR. He, of course, has been out since Week 2 with a high-ankle sprain. Fire him up, but keep Mike Davis around if you can.
