Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game against the Patriots. Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe will share TEs duties. Neither is a bankable fantasy play, especially vs. the league’s 2nd-ranked TE defense.
Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki is expected to miss at least 1 game after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, the Miami Herald reports. Gesicki's absence will leave Miami with TEs Adam Shaheen and Durham Smythe -- but neither is a bankable fantasy play.
The Dolphins acquired TE Adam Shaheen from the Bears in exchange for a conditional 7th-round pick. The 45th overall pick of the 2017 draft was a colossal bust in Chicago, mustering just 26 catches over the past 3 seasons. We'll see if he can revive his career in Miami. Shaheen is still just 26 and goes 6'7, 278 pounds with 68th percentile athleticism.
The Bears on Saturday placed TE Trey Burton on IR with his calf injury, ending a season that was injury marred from the start. Burton hit September limited by a groin issue after offseason core-muscle surgery. He totaled just 14 catches in 8 games and never topped 20 yards in a single week. He'll be just 28 at the start of the 2020 season, though, with 2 years remaining on his contract. TE Adam Shaheen is also out or Sunday night's game against the Rams, leaving Ben Braunecker as Chicago's lead TE. There will be some upside to Shaheen once he's back from his foot injury.
Bears TEs Trey Burton (calf) and Adam Shaheen (foot) are out for Sunday night’s game against the Rams. That leaves Ben Braunecker as Chicago’s top TE, but he’s still not much of a fantasy option on this struggling offense.
Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) is inactive for tonight's game against the Packers. That leaves 2017 2nd-rounder Adam Shaheen as Chicago's lead pass-catching TE. He's an interesting play on the 1-game DFS slate but shouldn't be in Week 1 season-long lineups.
Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's opener against the Packers after being limited in practice this week. We'll get his official status around 7 pm ET tomorrow, but Burton isn't a recommended fantasy play even if active. If he's out, Adam Shaheen would be the best bet to serve as Chicago's pass-catching TE but would be just a DFS flier.
Bears TE Trey Burton is dealing with a "mild" groin strain that could make him a game-time decision for Thursday night's opener against the Packers, GM Ryan Pace told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. Burton sustained the injury at some point last week and missed practice time over the weekend. He was reportedly back on the field Monday, however. Even if Burton misses the opener, this doesn't seem like a longer-term concern. Make sure that you have an insurance option for Week 1.
Bears TE Trey Burton wasn't on the field Sunday for the portion of practice open to the media. We'll see whether that changes over the next few days, when Chicago will actually have to submit injury reports. It bodes ill, though, for Burton's status Thursday night status against the Packers. The Bears have been taking it easy with Burton this summer coming off sports hernia surgery. If Burton misses the game, Adam Shaheen would be Chicago's lead TE.
Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) is inactive for today's game against the Eagles. He was added to the injury report on Saturday, but we have no further details on his status beyond this week. Burton's absence leaves Adam Shaheen as Chicago's lead pass-catching TE. Note that Philly finished 4th in Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed to TEs this season.
The Bears have placed TE Adam Shaheen (foot, ankle) on IR. GM Ryan Pace suggested that Shaheen could be designated-to-return and play later this season, but he's obviously not worth a roster spot in redraft leagues. TE Trey Burton looks set to be close to an every-down player and a big piece of Chicago's passing game.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen has been diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That's relatively good news considering the injury looked much worse when it happened in Saturday night's preseason game. Per Rapoport, Shaheen has a chance to be ready for Week 1. The 2nd-year TE was having an impressive preseason before going down. He's behind Trey Burton in the pecking order and isn't a great bet for consistent fantasy production this season. But Shaheen's return will be good news for QB Mitchell Trubisky.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen left the field on a cart Saturday night after hurting his right ankle against the Broncos. The fear is a potential fracture, though HC Matt Nagy said "I don't think so" when asked whether Shaheen had broken a bone. The 2nd-year TE is headed for more testing Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Tribune. Shaheen won't be much of a fantasy factor even if he emerges OK, but he could siphon some red-zone looks from TE Trey Burton in 2-TE alignments. We'll keep an eye on this situation.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen (chest) is inactive for today’s game against the Vikings. Dion Sims and Daniel Brown will continue to share TE duties. Neither is a fantasy option.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen (chest) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Vikings after a limited week of practice. It’s the same boat he was in last week, when he ended up inactive. Fantasy owners shouldn’t be counting on Shaheen in Week 17 lineups.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen (chest) is inactive for today’s game against the Browns. Dion Sims and Daniel Brown will handle TE duties for Chicago. Neither is a reliable fantasy option, despite the plus matchup.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen (chest) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Browns after a limited week of practice. We’ll find out his status by noon ET. Shaheen has a dream matchup vs. the league’s 31st-ranked TE defense, but the rookie is more of a DFS flier than a season-long option.
Bears TE Adam Shaheen (chest) is inactive for today's game against the Lions. He entered the day questionable.
The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs says "don't be surprised" if TE Zach Miller doesn't crack the Bears' final roster. This actually makes plenty of sense. The Bears are rebuilding on offense and might not want to give snaps to an injury-prone 32-year-old. They also gave $10 million guaranteed to TE Dion Sims in free agency and drafted TE Adam Shaheen in the 2nd round of this year's draft. The team is also high on TE Daniel Brown, according to Biggs. This is a group to stay away from in fantasy drafts right now.
The Bears nabbed Ashland TE Adam Shaheen with the 45th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Shaheen becomes the 4th player in NFL history drafted from Ashland. He dominated there, totaling 127 catches, 1,670 yards and 26 TDs over the past 2 seasons. Then he proved he belongs in the NFL by testing as a 68th percentile athlete for his position. The 6’6, 278-pounder clocked a 4.79-second 40 time — impressive for such a big dude — and was even better with a 121-inch broad jump and 7.09-second 3-cone. Shaheen joins QB Mitchell Trubisky in Chicago but is a long shot for 2017 fantasy value. We’ll see if the Bears hang on to TE Zach Miller after adding TE Dion Sims in free agency.
