The Patriots have signed QB Brian Hoyer to a 1-year, $2 million deal. The 34-year-old made 1 start for the Colts last season, completing just 46% of his passes for 204 yards, 1 TD and 3 INTs in a loss to the Dolphins. Hoyer does have experience with New England, playing there for his first 3 NFL seasons and then again in 2017 and 2018. We imagine the Patriots would like to see 2019 4th-rounder Jarrett Stidham win the starting job, but Hoyer will be around as insurance. New England could also still add a rookie QB to the mix.
Colts QB Jacoby Brissett will miss Sunday’s game against Miami. Brian Hoyer will make the start while Brissett rests an MCL sprain. Hoyer’s a risky fantasy option, but a matchup with the Dolphins puts him on the deep league radar.
Colts QB Jacoby Brissett (knee) is a game-time decision for this weekend’s tilt with the Dolphins, HC Frank Reich said Friday. Brissett got in 3 limited practices this week. Colts-Fins doesn’t kick off until 4:05 pm ET, so hopefully we get an update on this situation on Sunday morning. QB Brian Hoyer will draw the start if Brissett is out.
Colts QB Jacoby Brissett has a "chance" to play against the Dolphins this weekend, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The MRI on the injured left knee confirmed an MCL sprain. We'll keep a close eye on Brissett's status throughout this week, but it at least looks like he avoided a multi-week injury. QB Brian Hoyer will start vs. Miami if Brissett can't.
Colts QB Jacoby Brissett injured his left foot or ankle in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game in Pittsburgh. He was able to get off the field under his own power and is being looked at by trainers on the sidelines. QB Brian Hoyer is in for Indianapolis. We'll update Brissett's status when we learn more.
Update: The Colts announced that Brissett has a knee injury and is questionable to return.
The Colts have reached agreement with QB Brian Hoyer on a 3-year deal with $9 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports. Hoyer will back up Jacoby Brissett and could present some upside as a cheap DFS play if the starter goes down.
The Patriots and QB Brian Hoyer have agreed to a 3-year deal. He slides back in as QB Tom Brady's backup, a role he served from 2009 to 2011. Hoyer, of course, remains off the fantasy radar.
The 49ers have released QB Brian Hoyer. He was 3rd on the depth chart after the big trade for QB Jimmy Garoppolo. Hoyer might latch on with the Patriots, who need a backup QB after shipping away both Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett this year. Hoyer spent the first 3 seasons of his career in New England.
49ers QB Brian Hoyer was benched in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game in Washington. He completed just 4 of 11 for 34 yards before getting yanked. Rookie QB C.J. Beathard has entered the game for San Francisco. He could get a long look with the 'Niners trending toward 0-6.
The 49ers have agreed to a 2-year deal with QB Brian Hoyer, a source tells NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hoyer played reasonably well for Chicago last year, completing 67% of his passes with 6 TDs and 0 INTs in 6 appearances. He's also familiar with HC Kyle Shanahan's offense, having played in it in Cleveland back in 2013. Of course, the 31-year-old isn't San Francisco's long-term answer. This signing makes the 49ers a strong bet to draft a QB this spring. If it's a 1st-rounder, Hoyer might quickly fall to #2 on the depth chart.
Bears QB Brian Hoyer is expected to miss 6 weeks after undergoing surgery to fix his broken forearm. That timetable would put him back on the field for Week 14. It's unclear whether the starting job would be waiting for Hoyer at that point, though. He's not worth stashing on fantasy rosters. We'll see whether QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is ready for next Monday night's game against the Vikings. If not, QB Matt Barkley will get the start.
Bears QB Brian Hoyer broke his left arm in Thursday night's game against the Packers. That'll cost him an extended period of time, and possibly the rest of the season. Hoyer can be dropped in all fantasy leagues. Now we'll see if QB Jay Cutler truly remains injured, or if Chicago was just riding with Hoyer. QB Matt Barkley will start against the Vikings (gulp!) next week if Cutler can't.
Bears QB Brian Hoyer injured his left (non-throwing) arm in the 2nd quarter of Thursday night's game against the Packers. He headed back to the locker room with trainers. QB Matt Barkley is Chicago's backup tonight. QB Jay Cutler (thumb) has yet to resume practicing and has no timetable for return. We'll update Hoyer's status when we learn more.
Update: Hoyer has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
The Packers on Wednesday placed #1 CB Sam Shields on IR as he continues to try to work through a concussion. They have also ruled out CBs Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins, who both have groin injuries. That certainly doesn't hurt the fantasy outlook for Bears QB Brian Hoyer, who has already delivered 4 straight games of 300+ passing yards, with 2 TDs in 3 of those.
Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is inactive for today’s game against the Jaguars. QB Brian Hoyer gets another start and is a low-end QB1 in fantasy football.
Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) sat out practice all week and is again listed as doubtful. QB Brian Hoyer will get another start on Sunday against the Jaguars. He’s chucked for 300+ yards with 2 TDs in 3 straight games.
Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is officially inactive for today’s game against the Colts. QB Brian Hoyer gets the start and is on the streaming radar vs. the league’s 24th-ranked QB defense.
Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) didn’t practice all week and is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Colts. QB Brian Hoyer gets another start after finished as a top 9 fantasy QB in both of the past 2 weeks. The Colts rank 24th in fantasy points allowed to QBs.
Bears HC John Fox suggested Monday that the team will stick with QB Brian Hoyer even when QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is medically cleared. "Anybody's that performing well, I don't think we're going to be likely to change," were Fox's exact words. Hoyer has completed 68% of his passes for 619 yards, 4 TDs and 0 INTs over the past 2 weeks. That's come against a couple of poor defenses in the Cowboys and Lions. But Hoyer gets another 1 this Sunday when he travels to Indianapolis.
Bears QB Jay Cutler (thumb) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. Brian Hoyer draws the start vs. the league’s 32nd-ranked QB defense.
