Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks (hip) and S Harrison Smith (ankle) are active for today's game against the Lions after entering the day questionable. They'll carry a bit more risk than usual but are OK to use as you normally would. (Check our Week 12 rankings.) CB Captain Munnerlyn (ankle) is also active despite coming in questionable. CB Terence Newman (neck) is out, as expected. He entered Sunday doubtful. Minnesota will also miss usual punt returner CB Marcus Sherels (ribs), who is inactive.
Vikings S Harrison Smith (ankle), MLB Eric Kendricks (hip) and CB Captain Munnerlyn (ankle) are questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions. HC Mike Zimmer said Wednesday that he expects Munnerlyn and Smith to play, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. That indicates Kendricks' status is more in question, despite his return to action in Week 11. We'll see about their statuses Thursday morning. CB Terence Newman is doubtful for the game.
Vikings DT Linval Joseph (shoulder) is active for today's game against Washington. He's a risky IDP play after missing the 1st 2 days of practice this week and putting in only a limited workout Friday. The defense will miss slot CB Captain Munnerlyn (ankle) who's inactive.
The Vikings reached deals Thursday with 2 veteran NFL CBs. First, former Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn joined up on a 3-year deal that could be worth $15 million. Then came former Chargers and Jaguars CB Derek Cox. Munnerlyn's a fiery player who delivered solid play in Carolina as a starter for most of the past 3 years. Cox built a strong reputation for his coverage in Jacksonville but then busted as a free-agent signee in San Diego. Considering the weakness of Minnesota's corners, both could be upgrades for the Vikes. The team also returns 2013 first-rounder Xavier Rhodes. Neither Munnerlyn nor Cox will sit prominently in our 2014 IDP rankings.
