The Bengals might have opened Round 3 of the NFL Draft with their new MLB. Cincinnati picked Wyoming LB Logan Wilson, who started 52 games for the Cowboys. Wilson racked up 94+ tackles in each of his 4 seasons, tallying 34.5 tackles for loss and 7 sacks for his career. He added 14 passes defensed and 10 INTs. Wilson lands in a Cincinnati D with no proven starters at LB and finds a clear path to a starting job -- likely in the middle. Wilson looks very good for dynasty rookie drafts.
According to multiple reports, the Bengals have agreed to a 3-year deal with S Vonn Bell. The former Saint joins a secondary that returns both starters at safety: Shawn Williams and Jessie Bates. Cincinnati's primary slot CB Darqueze Dennard, however, left for Jacksonville in free agency this offseason. We'd bet on that role being at least part of the plan for Bell with the Bengals -- and perhaps his primary job. We'll keep an eye out for word from the coaches as we move into 2020 IDP rankings time.
The Bengals have ruled DE Sam Hubbard (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Bengals DT Geno Atkins (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders. He put in a full practice Wednesday before sitting out Thursday and then returning to a limited workout Friday. We'll check his status Sunday afternoon.
The Bengals have waived MLB Preston Brown. It's an overdue move on a guy who has never been particularly good. Pro Football Focus grades Brown 81st this season among 90 off-ball LBs who have played at least 140 snaps. Rookie Germaine Pratt should see more playing time going forward. We'll have to see him get enough to be IDP relevant before we can use Pratt in fantasy lineups, though. The 3rd-round pick played a season-high 49% of Cincinnati's defensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
The Bengals have deemed DE Carlos Dunlap doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jaguars with the knee injury that kept him out last week. Dunlap's replacement, Carl Lawson, has already been ruled out for the game with a hamstring injury. The matchup gets even better for Leonard Fournette and Gardner Minshew.
Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick hyperextended his left knee in Sunday's loss to the Ravens and is expected to miss "about a month," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick left Sunday's loss to the Ravens on a cart after injuring his left knee. ESPN's Ben Baby reports that he left the locker room on crutches and with a brace on the knee. It sounds like we should expect Kirkpatrick to miss at least some time. The fill-in plan could include CB B.W. Webb, who has played near full time for most of the season so far, as well as Darqueze Dennard. Dennard opened the season on the PUP, which means Cincinnati will soon need to activate him or place him on season-ending IR.
Bengals S Shawn Williams (thigh) is active for today's game against the Ravens. He barely practiced this week while dealing with the injury and carries re-injury risk into the game, but he also figures to be busy. Consider the risk-reward as you decide whether to include Williams in your IDP lineup.
Bengals S Shawn Williams (thigh) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning for a limited Friday workout. We'll check his status Sunday morning, but Williams looks risky for IDP lineups. Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports that Williams is expected to play, at least.
The Bengals have ruled DE Carlos Dunlap out for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Dunlap started the week as a full participant but then left Thursday's workout early and missed Friday with a knee injury. It'll be his first missed game since 2012. We'll watch for further details on the injury.
Bengals starting DEs Carlos Dunlap and Sam Hubbard were both removed from the week's final injury report. Dunlap (hamstring) and Hubbard (ankle) each missed practice Thursday and put in limited participation Thursday. But each guy returned to a full practice Saturday. Use them as you normally would in IDP lineups. Cincinnati will miss OLB/DE Carl Lawson, who is doubtful with a hamstring injury.
The Bengals spent a 3rd-round pick on N.C. State LB Germaine Pratt in the NFL Draft. Pratt spent just 1 year at MLB for the Wolfpack after starting out at safety, but he weighed in at 240 pounds at the Scouting Combine and delivered a 110.0 speed score. Pratt ranked 10th among Combine off-ball LBs in tackles for loss per game in 2018 (0.91) and 2nd in the group in sacks per game (0.55). Pratt should compete for the middle job in a defense that finally shed Vontaze Burfict this offseason.
Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (concussion) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. He shouldn't have been in IDP consideration anyway.
Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens after missing the past 2 games. He put in limited practices all week, and we'd bet on the veteran playing. He's still a risky fantasy option even if active, though. Burfict played just 53%, 84% and 63% of Cincinnati's defensive snaps in his 3 appearances so far this season. Burfict has also averaged just 6.6 total tackles per game since the start of last season. Cincinnati will remain without LB Nick Vigil (knee), and MLB Preston Brown (knee) has also been ruled out.
Bengals OLB Vontaze Burfict put in a limited practice Wednesday for the 1st time since suffering a hip injury back in Week 7. He missed the past 2 games but could be on track to return Sunday against the Ravens. We'll watch his status through the week. Teammate Nick Vigil remained out Wednesday with his knee injury.
The Bengals have ruled LBs Vontaze Burfict (hip) and Nick Vigil (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Saints. That makes a weak run defense even weaker and adds IDP upside to LBs Jordan Evans and Preston Brown.
The Bengals have ruled LB Vontaze Burfict (hip) out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. It's not clear exactly how the snaps will be aligned at the OLB spots. MLB Preston Brown looks like the best bet for playing time among Bengals LBs this week. He hasn't been a strong tackle producer, though, and the matchup is nothing special for LB scoring. You should look elsewhere for IDP value this week.
