Titans K Ryan Succop (knee) has been activated from the IR and will kick against the Panthers on Sunday. He's not a great fantasy option on a Tennessee team sitting 24th in points and 26th in total yards. K Cody Parkey was released in a corresponding roster move.
In the same day the Dolphins claimed K Cody Parkey off waivers, they then released K Andrew Franks. Franks connected on just 78.4% of his FG attempts over the past 2 years, including only 16 of 21 last season. Parkey brings an 84.6% career success rate. He's not getting hitched to a terrific offense. Miami ranked 17th in scoring and 24th in yards last year.
The Dolphins have claimed K Cody Parkey off waivers after Cleveland waived him Saturday. That could mean they're looking to replace K Andrew Franks. The situation is suddenly at least murky enough that you shouldn't pick Franks in fantasy football drafts today.
Update: The Dolphins released Franks on September 3.
The forecast for today's Steelers-Browns game calls for a 30% chance of snow with winds of 27-29 mph and gusts up to 40. That wind is a significant concern. We'd avoid both kickers and downgrade the passing games, especially the guys who rely on downfield stuff. Bang it here for updated projections for the Steelers and Browns.
The Browns placed K Patrick Murray on IR and signed K Cody Parkey. Given the question marks with Cleveland’s offense, it's best to avoid this situation in fantasy. Parkey, however, has hit 87.5% of his FG attempts in his young career.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles will place K Cody Parkey on IR with his groin injury and sign Caleb Sturgis to replace him. The former Dolphin lost out to undrafted free agent Andrew Franks this summer after making less than 80% of his FGs each of the past 2 years. Combine that with a still-shaky Eagles offense, and you don't have the "must add" that we all might have expected for a Philly kicker as recently as a month ago.
Eagles K Cody Parkey aggravated a groin injury in Sunday's game against the Jets, according to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez. Philly will work out potential replacements this week, including Nick Novak. Parkey owners need to be looking elsewhere for a Week 4 kicker.
NJ.com reports that Eagles K Cody Parkey has beaten out incumbent Alex Henery for the job. Philly traded RB David Fluellen for Parkey earlier this month, and he hit 3-of-3 FGs Thursday night in the final preseason contest. That included boots of 53 and 54 yards. The team has yet to officially announce Henery's cut, but Parkey's former Auburn teammate Corey Lemonier -- now an OLB with the Niners -- tweeted congratulations to Parkey on making the team. If your fantasy football draft is today, assume Parkey is the Philly kicker.
Update: The Eagles have announced that they cut Henery.
