Dante Fowler Fantasy Football News 2019

The Rams have reached a 1-year, $14.5 million deal with OLB Dante Fowler to keep the 24-year-old off the open market. It's an interesting contract. On one hand, it's a surprisingly large salary for a former #3 overall pick with just 16 total sacks through 3 seasons. (Fowler missed his rookie campaign with an ACL tear.) The money indicates that both sides expected Fowler to garner at least solid interest on the open market. At the same time, the fact that Fowler went for just a 1-year offer on the verge of his age-25 season points to it being somewhat of a "prove it" contract. Fowler contributed just 2 sacks in his 8 games with the Rams in 2018. Pro Football Focus rated the Rams version of Fowler just tied for 110th among edge players in pass-rushing productivity. (The 2018 Jaguars version tied for 28th.) IDP owners shouldn't pay Fowler much attention yet, especially because sticking with L.A. makes him a LB rather than a DE.

The Jaguars on Sunday announced team suspensions for CB Jalen Ramsey and DE Dante Fowler. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the moves come as a result of "violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars football player." Fowler reportedly got into multiple scuffles with teammate DE Yannick Ngakoue in practice, while Ramsey's misstep appears to have been his actions toward the media following the practice fights. The 2 have reportedly been suspended for a week, which could include the 2nd preseason game. The situations likely won't affect either's standing for the regular season or the team's defense on whole. It is just the latest issue for Fowler, though, who has already been suspended for Week 1 by the league and only came off the PUP list Saturday. The former early 1st-round pick already saw the team refuse the 5th-year option (for 2019) on his rookie contract.

The NFL has suspended Jaguars DE Dante Fowler for Week 1 of 2018 for violating the personal-conduct policy. The suspension stems from a 2017 arrest. Fowler has been a disappointing contributor since arriving in Jacksonville as a 1st-round pick in 2016 and doesn't sit high in our 2018 IDP rankings anyway.

Jaguars DE Dante Fowler tore his left ACL in Friday's 1st practice of rookie minicamp. The relative good news for Jacksonville is that veteran Chris Clemons -- who started every 2014 game at "Leo" and led the team with 8.5 sacks -- remains on board. And Andre Branch and Ryan Davis add talented depth. Losing Fowler doesn't necessarily crush a Jaguars D that has seemed to be moving in the right direction, but it's certainly disheartening for a franchise that has struggled for a while. Dynasty players in IDP leagues might want to move Fowler slightly down the board -- at least behind Vikings LB Eric Kendricks -- but ACL injuries don't necessarily alter careers anymore. We'll see how Fowler progresses through his rehab and how early he takes the field next offseason.

The Jaguars spent the 3rd pick of the 2015 NFL Draft on DE Dante Fowler. The former Gator seemed to have his sack production limited a bit by his role in college but flashed plenty of pass-rushing potential and looks like a 3-down player. He should slot into a high-ceiling sack role under HC Gus Bradley, who ran the Seattle defense during DE Chris Clemons' best years there. Fowler's landing at 4-3 DE rather than 3-4 OLB boosts his IDP value quite a bit.
