Jaguars CB Sidney Jones (Achilles' tendon) is out for today's game against the Steelers. C.J. Henderson, Tre Herndon and D.J. Hayden look like the top 3 Jacksonville corners against Pittsburgh in a terrific matchup for the Steelers' entire offense.
The Raiders not only took CB D.J. Hayden out of the starting lineup for Sunday's win at Tennessee. They demoted him to outside the team's top 3 corners. David Amerson stepped back into the starting lineup, across from T.J. Carrie, where he had played while Carrie filled in for Nate Allen at safety. Neiko Thorpe worked as the nickel CB vs. the Titans, relegating Hayden to just 5 snaps. Go ahead and dump him in your IDP league. Amerson, meanwhile, defensed 6 passes in his return to the lineup after impressing both as a starter and in the nickel role (after Allen returned). He carries significant IDP upside the rest of the way -- especially in CB-required formats.
Raiders CB D.J. Hayden is probable for Sunday's game in Detroit despite the ankle that he hurt in last week's loss to Minnesota. Hayden remained in the starting lineup last week when S Nate Allen's return pushed T.J. Carrie back to corner and CB David Amerson out of a starting spot. Hayden will carry big IDP upside against a Lions offense that is the league's most pass-heavy.
The Raiders have activated S Nate Allen from short-term IR. He has been out since suffering a Week 1 knee injury but is expected to reclaim his starting spot next to Charles Woodson, according to Pro Football Talk. That would push T.J. Carrie back to CB, which has featured David Amerson and D.J. Hayden as starters for most of Allen's absence. We'll see how the playing time works out among this crew going forward. All make for fairly risky IDP options this week against Minnesota.
For the 1st time in more than a year, Raiders rookie CB D.J. Hayden will take part in full-contact practice Sunday. The 1st-round pick finally gained clearance after wearing a red, no-contact jersey since May surgery to remove scar tissue from his abdomen. That issue arose from the emergency heart surgery in his final college season. The Raiders could certainly use a full-strength Hayden on defense after watching CB Tracy Porter suffer a potentially serious groin injury in Friday night's matchup with New Orleans.
