Jets CB Darryl Roberts (calf) and DE Henry Anderson (shoulder) are active for today's game against the Bengals. The matchup gives upside to Anderson for deep IDP leagues. He's still a low-floor option. Roberts returns after losing 3 games to a calf injury. He remained limited in practice all week, and the Jets improved in coverage with an altered CB lineup against the Raiders last Sunday. It's not clear whether Roberts will regain his starting gig. You should avoid him in IDP lineups this week.
The Jets have re-signed DE Henry Anderson for 3 years at $25 million. It's not a surprising move after Anderson delivered 7 sacks and deflected 4 passes in his 4th NFL season and 1st with the Jets. The money suggests the team envisions more of the same -- and perhaps more. Anderson ranked 2nd among Jets in total pressures in his 1st season of more than 11 games. He looks like an upside DL3 for IDP owners in 2019.
The Colts defense got good news and very bad news on Monday. The good: DE Henry Anderson got activated from the PUP and will rejoin the team for the 1st time since suffering an ACL tear to end his rookie season. The bad: Top CB Vontae Davis is expected to miss at least the 1st month of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Davis suffered a medial ankle sprain in practice last Thursday and has ligament damage. We'll see whether that will cost him more than the 1st 4 games. Indy signed free-agent CB Antonio Cromartie on Monday to fill in. Cromartie has had terrific seasons in the league, but it's also telling that he sat available this far into the offseason. We'll see how he looks. The secondary has also been operating without presumed starting FS Clayton Geathers throughout camp (foot) but expects to get him back at practice this week. All told, there's not much to get excited about in an already shaky defense.
The Colts on Monday placed rookie DE Henry Anderson on IR with what the team believes to be a torn ACL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That doesn't hurt IDP owners much for this year, because Anderson's production had already petered out after an encouraging start. But the injury could affect his quickness off the ball next season and hurt the rookie's 2016 fantasy upside. We'll see how his recovery goes. Kendall Langford is the only Colts D-lineman worth IDP attention the rest of the way.
Colts S Mike Adams left Sunday's win over the Broncos with an ankle injury after intercepting a Peyton Manning pass. He did not return, and HC Chuck Pagano said after the game that Adams will get an MRI on Monday. DE Henry Anderson also left the game with a sprained knee, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. According to multiple reports, Pagano called it a "pretty significant" injury after the game. The rookie figures to miss at least a couple of games, though Indy at least gets a Week 11 bye to give guys some time to heal.
The Colts will have all 3 questionable defensive starters tonight against the Texans. CB Vontae Davis is active despite a foot injury that kept him out of practice all week. DE Henry Anderson will play despite his own foot injury, and S Mike Adams will play through the neck trouble that limited him early in the practice week. Adams put in a full workout Wednesday, though. He and Anderson should be ready for your IDP lineup. Davis isn't much of an IDP option but could significantly alter Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins' night if he plays near 100%.
Three Colts defensive starters are questionable for Thursday night's game in Houston. S Mike Adams (neck), DE Henry Anderson (foot) and CB Vontae Davis (foot) all stand as question marks. Adams put in a full practice Wednesday and might be good to go. Anderson returned to a limited practice after missing the previous 2 days. Both make for decent IDP options if they're ready to play. Davis missed Wednesday's practice and looks quite iffy. He's not much of a fantasy option, but his presence or absence will alter the outlook for Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins. We'll update their statuses when the inactives come out Thursday evening.
