Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is active for today's game against the Eagles. It'll mark his 1st game back since the preseason ankle injury. Davis carries risk for your IDP lineup, but he did enter each of the 1st 2 games questionable and on limited practices. There's upside to Davis as well.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis (ankle) is inactive for the 2nd straight week. He increased his practice work in Week 2, though, and appears to be trending toward a return soon from his preseason ankle injury. We'll see about his status for Week 3. Rookie Jahlani Tavai will remain in Davis' starting spot against the Chargers.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is once again questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. He turned up inactive after a "questionable" tag in Week 1 and is still working back from his preseason ankle injury. The Detroit News reports that Davis was "more active" in practice this week, but he remained limited in every session. IDP owners should probably wait until we get at least a full game from Davis before popping him back into fantasy football lineups.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is inactive for today's game against the Cardinals. The fact that he was even questionable after the nasty-looking ankle injury he suffered in the preseason is good news for his overall fantasy outlook, though. Rookie Jahlani Tavai carries some deep-sleeper appeal in Davis' absence.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is officially questionable for Sunday's opener against the Cardinals with the ankle injury that looked like a potential season-ender when he suffered it. Davis managed to put in limited practices all week, but mLive's Kyle Meinke says he "sure doesn’t look like a guy who is ready to play in Arizona." We'd try to not use Davis even if he's active for Week 1 -- especially because the late Sunday afternoon kickoff makes him tough to wait for. But Davis looks like he'll return to the lineup soon.
Lions HC Matt Patricia told reporters on a conference call Saturday that MLB Jarrad Davis' ankle injury will not end his season, according to multiple outlets. The coach also reportedly said that Davis isn't even a candidate for short-term IR. Patricia apparently didn't give any further details on the injury, though, and put no timetable on the LB's return. We've added Davis back into the LB rankings with a 10-game projection. He's still not worth drafting in most IDP leagues.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis went down with a non-contact leg injury in Friday night's preseason game against the Bills. Davis then left the field with help, putting absolutely no pressure on his right leg. And he left the sideline on a cart after a brief examination. This has the look of a potential season-ender. Rookie Jahlani Tavai took over for Davis. We've removed Davis from our LB rankings for now.
Update: ESPN reports that Davis has a foot injury and will have an MRI Saturday. Ian Rapoport called it an ankle injury.
The Lions spent a 2nd-round pick on LB Jahlani Tavai. The Hawaii product posted just an 89.6 speed score even with the generally favorable conditions of running his 40-yard dash at his pro day. Tavai fared better in production, though, tallying 13% of Hawaii's solo tackles in 2018 and 17.6% of the total tackles. The latter number ranked 2nd in the class. We'll see whether Detroit likes Tavai in the middle or on the outside. Either way, he faces opportunity in a weak LB corps that has seen 1st-round pick Jarrad Davis disappoint.
Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah (shoulder) is inactive once again for today's game against the Seahawks. He still has not played since suffering the injury back in Week 1. MLB Jarrad Davis is active, however after entering the day questionable with a calf injury. He's good to go in a positive matchup for IDP lineups.
Lions LB Jarrad Davis (calf) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Davis missed Wednesday's practice but then returned for limited work the other 2 days. We'll check his status Sunday morning.
Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah is out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He clearly suffered a setback with his injured shoulder, which cost him the entire practice week. MLB Jarrad Davis (knee) is active after showing up questionable on Friday's injury report with a knee issue. He's an OK IDP option.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis returned to practice Wednesday after missing Week 3 with a concussion. That indicates we can expect him to return for Sunday's game against the Vikings. When both were healthy for the Week 1 win over the Cardinals, Davis played 100% of the defensive snaps, while OLB Tahir Whitehead played just 68% (51 of 75). So Davis' return adds risk to Whitehead for IDP owners who might have used Whitehead when he filled in for Davis last week.
The Lions have ruled LB Jarrad Davis (concussion) and S Tavon Wilson (shoulder) out for Sunday's game against the Falcons. That's a couple of significant losses for an already soft defense. DE Ezekiel Ansah (ankle) is also questionable for the game after putting in limited practices all week. But he has played through questionable tags the 1st 2 weeks. We'll check his status Sunday morning.
Lions MLB Jarrad Davis left Monday night's win over the Giants with a concussion. The shorter turnaround for Week 3 makes it likely that he'll miss at least 1 game. Detroit shifted Tahir Whitehead over to the middle after Davis left and inserted rookie Jalen Reeves-Maybin on the weak side. Whitehead would be a solid IDP option against the Falcons in Week 3 if Davis remains out.
The Lions plan to play 1st-round LB Jarrad Davis in the middle "we hope for many years to come," GM Bob Quinn told the Detroit Free Press. But Davis will have to compete with others in the corps before settling into his spot. "He's a guy that we feel that can play mike (middle) and will (weak-side) so we’re going to put him in the mix with all the guys we have on the roster and just kind of figure out what’s the best way to use him," Quinn said. "But he definitely has position flexibility." Davis should quickly emerge as the top player in the group, however, and lock down a starting job either on the middle or the weak side. Meanwhile, Tahir Whitehead is no lock to remain in the lineup after a breakthrough fantasy season in 2016, which particularly found him struggling in coverage. Free-agent addition Paul Worrilow will also compete, along with 4th-round rookie Jalen Reeves-Maybin. Quinn said the team likes Reeves-Maybin on the weak side. The whole competition will be interesting to watch for IDP owners.
